I’m surprised Steeldive sd1953 isn’t in here, that’s the best you can get at $100 mark. Sapphire crystal, great lume, 316L steel, 30 bar, great ceramic bezel with no back play.
I'll be honest Jody I don't really like the Submariner look and its homages but I'm here because I just enjoy listening to you talking about watches, not matter what kind they are
I owned the 43mm Pagani Sub. Besides being too big I just found the design somewhat boring. I do really love the Pagani 'Yachtmaster' (grey sunburst dial, silver bezel) though which borrows quite a bit from the Sub.
@Sleve McDichael didn't infer that it was sleve, simply expressing my own opinion, sub homages boring 10 x even worse, each to their own though, but not for me.
I've had an Invicta pro diver for over 10 years and still enjoy it. I'm not out to impress anyone, I like the look, and it still tells time accurately. I watched this video out of curiosity, and I honestly don't see any reason to go out and spend more money; on the other hand, I'm not knocking anyone who has the money and wants to go high end. Whatever makes each person happy is the big thing.
INVICTA Pro Diver all the way!! Mine with the NH35A movement is running 3.5 seconds slow per day after some patient adjustment. Impressive. I just got it a few days ago. Cost me €120.00 including shipping to Europe. I'm very happy with it.
You're bang on about the San Martin, for mine I spent 1 hour buffing out the sharp edges of the bezel with green compound for stainless steel, and went over the case edges at the lugs and clasp with a file. The Loreo will die due to movement failure at 10 months or less, as the makers said to me - and I quote " you got enough use of the watch, no warranty"
Oh boy! I think that customer service should be one of the most important criteria of a purchase like this. If you are going to copy an original, you'd better stand out at customer service!
Thanks for remembering Tisell. I have two of the non-vintage versions (one black, one green-no date) and I absolutely love them. The glide lock clasp is an definite game changer and makes it hard to wear anything else. The Tisells tick all the boxes.
I'm surprised the Steeldive didn't make the list yet the Pagani and the Guanqin did. The only weak point on the Steeldive is the bracelet. It's by far the best Sub homage at $100 or lower. Not to mention its lume is leagues better than anything else below $100.
The Cronos SW200 does indeed now come with a Glide Clasp so they're obviously paying attention Jody. Full Lume version is $419 so well worth a punt. Great Video as always.
14:05 Can confirm. I have a sterile version of the Cronos and I absolutely LOVE the thing. I was actually complimented on it by a gentleman wearing a subbie who sold Rolex for a living. He guessed I paid 5 or 600 for it rather than the 230ish I paid. I felt pretty good
Been wearing a Cheronometer (NH35 version) since last November. No problems at all. Comfortable to wear. The lume on mine is actually pretty good. I still smile everytime I see the typos!
I'd like to add to one of my comments on a previous video; thanks to this channel I have Steeldive 1970, a Casio Duro, an Invicta 8926ob and now have a Vostok Amphibia on its way to me!
I'm glad you pointed out San Martin's sharp finishing. That's been one of my problems with them. The bracelet link edges, clasps and crown are too sharp.
I have got this picture in my head that there must be a warehouse somewhere with pallet racking stacked to the hilt with nh35 movements and a machine pumping thousands a day out and the obvious high reach fork lift truck? If in fact I hear nh 35 mentioned again I might start walking like John Cleese in that ministry on your t shirt!
I will say that Pagani Design seem to improve on their QC issues continuously: The PD1661 I bought for a friend two months ago has San Martin level of bezel action (literally no backplay whatsoever) and the fold over clasp is much easier to operate than on my slightly older PD1662 GMT-Master homage.
I got the 007 Seamaster homage a month ago and the bezel is pretty awful. Bracelet not great either even though they had apparently improved it after initial complaints.
Gotta say, I bought the Pagani 1661 a little while ago and I love it. I wear it confidently knowing that it’s easily replaced, as it serves as my vacation watch. I bought the one with the James Cameron deep sea dial, and it looks far more expensive than it is. Awesome video, as always.
Three years ago I bought a Revue Thommen Diver, stainless steel, black dial, black bezel, sapphire, screw down crown, 300M, SW200 movement, clasp with 4 micro adjustments and a divers extension, all for US$300 new. It's my daily wear and is fantastic.
Invicta is the best looking one in my opinion. Invicta wings on seconds hand and applied logo on the beautiful glossy dial makes the watch for me. It looks good even under the macro lens. And option with scalp bezel looks better then coin edge because scalp one is wider and does not look like a straight up Rolex copy. Love my Invicta. I wear PD1661 mostly because of its robustness (sapphire + ceramic), but Invicta is always on the display under my monitor :)
The Cronos SW200 is C$ 438.46. Jomashop has the Swiss Made MATHEY-TISSOT Automatic Black Dial Men's Watch H9010ATN for C$ 360.01. The movement is reported an STP 1-11 which is a clone like the Sw200 of the ETA 2824-2.

I"m happy with the San Martin, very well made case, dial and bracelet. The bezel action is by far the best I had on a watch of this price. No QC issues. Yes the edges are a bit sharp but it's not an issue on wrist.
Couldn't agree more JRG, nothing about the San Martin feels rough to me when wearing the watch. I find the green gorgeous and the bracelet/clasp are excellent in my opinion.
My San Martin has the sharp edges; however, I love how it feels on wrist. I was able to trade another watch that I found too large, which I received at the end of a trade. So, it's all positive for me.
I have a Invicta pro diver that was a gift. the stem is broken and it seems impossible to find out what size the replacement stem should be. The problem is the stem itself if broken so I dont know how long it needs to be. I watched plenty of videos on youtube to learn how to take apart and remove, but cannot find ANYWHERE what the stem size would be for a invicta model # 23671. Any help on finding a correct size would be truly appreciated!!
If I had to get a Sub homage, I'd get a Steinhart. I've had two and they were well-made watches for the price. They have a mixed reputation among watch fans because of their homages, but they're good value and you get a decent Swiss movement inside it.
Agreed, and they have actual customer service, swiss made certifications and a somehow more original design. Tho buyers beware the caseback is slightly too bulky, and the finishing of the watch head is akin to squale, but seems to be off the standard of the chronos
I also love that they have both a 42mm and a 39mm size for those who want a bigger or smaller sub. In addition it tends to also be thinner than most homages due to the ETA/Sallita movement being thinner than the NH36 and Miyota movements that most homages use.
I've owned 7 Steinies all in all and am currently down to 5 (4x 39mm O1s plus the Paul Newman Panda homage). And I couldn't agree more. Can't compare it to the Cronos (never held one), but I find Steinhart's finish and build quality excellent. Plus it's Swiss Made (FWIW), very well regulated (all of mine run close to or within COSC) and the customer service is indeed pretty excellent. One word of advice for those with average to small-ish wrists: The 39mm variants look and wear way better (IMO) - especially the vintage models.
Agreed. Myself not a fan of hommages, but Steinharts are great watches on their own for sheer bang for the buck. Sellitas élaborés in a sub 1k swiss watch is nice in any case, and their 39s are wonderfully wearable.
I have a Citizen Ecodrive BM0560-57E styled after the Submariner, would it be considered an homage? What about the Citizen Promasters? Not an homage if it's not automatic?
Cronos are a great brand. Fantastic quality and a company that seems to want to keep on improving the quality of their watches. However my favourite one is the Tisell. Love the vintage look.
Still no steeldive on the list. $100 bucks for sapphire crystal, 300m water resistance, screw down crown, ceramic 120 click rotating bezel, and a seiko nh35 movement, and Swiss BGW9 super luminous, blue night light, date function w/cyclops.Such a bargain for such a spec monster!!
Hey Jody, no idea if you're gonna read this, i really like the narrow lugs of the Tisell, which the modern version also has. Additionally the glidelock-clasp is very nice. However im worried that it might wear big because of the male end links (17cm/6.75 inch wrist). What do you think?
Yes. Do a search for "glide lock clasp" and it should come up. I just picked one up. "Logo" or "R" versions have the Rolex crown. They are sized via the width of the center link and the combined width the outer links. So a 9x9mm is 18mm wide with a 9mm wide center link. They are available as all brushed, brushed/polished center, black, rose gold, gold, gold and silver.
I love the comparison Jody and I just worked out what the t shirt is. It is of course John Cleese from Monty Python and his skit, ""The Minster for Funny walks ""
The sharp edges and generic clasp are my only marks against the San Martin. I like how short the end links are. And honestly, I found my Tisell Marine Diver a bit disappointing in comparison. The end links protruded a bit too much, and the bezel was hard to grip at times. That said, I'd get the Cronos if they upgrade to a true glide lock mechanism and shorten their end links.
@@stephenb7528 Yep, search for Parnis Root beer GMT and you will see a handful of them. Although I couldn't find a few for the Rose gold one which is my absolute favourite. Edit: Rose gold bezel, crown and middle links for the bracelet, not the full on rose gold plating on the whole thing.

I agree. Also if interested I bought the bracelet off the Pagani Design Aquaracer homage, it is an excellent bracelet & fits the watch real well, makes it feel really nice to wear.
I bought a PD-1661 a couple of weeks ago. I'd like to make mention to just be aware although I ordered it with the Seiko NH35A movement (which I thought was pretty much standard with Pagani's) they swapped with a Miyota movement in it instead. I contacted the seller (Pagani Design AliExpress-Official Store) and they said both movements are the same (BS!). I would advise if you buy from this store to make sure you ask about which movement they're going to put in the watch before purchasing. They are now ignoring my messages. Thought by commenting on JOMW channel it would have more effect.

Have the San Martin Blue Water Ghost the bronze one. Really good watch and the bronze just looks so different.
I don't care much for Submariner homages, but I'm here for YOU! You make everything awesome!
Thanks mate!
This watch would be a good Review to do.......Casio MTD-1010 Diver Watch or can the Duro get a hand "Mod" and it will look very similar ?
I have no idea whether your watch channel is the best. But it's the one I like the best!
9:06. I have this watch... what is a "fine spring bar remover" or more importantly, where do I get one?

The cronos at number 1 has a Swiss movement too
I have a Citizen Ecodrive BM0560-57E styled after the Submariner, would it be considered an homage? What about the Citizen Promasters? Not an homage if it's not automatic?
Cronos are a great brand. Fantastic quality and a company that seems to want to keep on improving the quality of their watches. However my favourite one is the Tisell. Love the vintage look.
is there a homage of Omega aquaterra newer version?
Still no steeldive on the list. $100 bucks for sapphire crystal, 300m water resistance, screw down crown, ceramic 120 click rotating bezel, and a seiko nh35 movement, and Swiss BGW9 super luminous, blue night light, date function w/cyclops.Such a bargain for such a spec monster!!
I don't like Submariner Homages, I'm here for the T-Shirt! 😆
Ministry of Silly Walks!
MPFC 😜
Here for the "helloooooooo..."
You didn't win it though right?!
@@SuccessShared nope! 😀
I picked up the Pagani pd 1651 because of your videos. Thanks for the recommendation I love it.
Could you give your advice on the steinhart submariner homage that costs $490?
Stay tuned......
Hey Jody, no idea if you're gonna read this, i really like the narrow lugs of the Tisell, which the modern version also has. Additionally the glidelock-clasp is very nice. However im worried that it might wear big because of the male end links (17cm/6.75 inch wrist). What do you think?
aswell as the lower quality bracelet and finishing
Is there an aftermarket, solid screw link glide lock bracelet on Ali?
Any plans to review the new Pagani root beer homage?
Check out the Parnis, it looks better IMO.
@@vamheredur413 any reviews you'd recommend?
@@stephenb7528 Yep, search for Parnis Root beer GMT and you will see a handful of them. Although I couldn't find a few for the Rose gold one which is my absolute favourite.
Edit: Rose gold bezel, crown and middle links for the bracelet, not the full on rose gold plating on the whole thing.
Jody, you should try the Steeldive SD 1954. Best homage i´ve had so far. Great specs and with a new clasp, unbeatable!
Bought one, wore it 3-4 times, flipped it on ebay. Every edge and corner on this watch is uncomfortably sharp, and the bracelet is heinous.
@@mathieut3197 you probably got a pourly made one. That happens. Are you sure you got the 1954? I´ve heard that the SD 1953 isnt very good. I have no complains what so ever about the watch. Beats a loreo, invicta and pagani every day (owned all of them).
How is the bezel action on the Guanny? Neither of your videos show it! I just ordered one for a beater and want to know what I'm in for!
I have a Submariner (no date); it's my favorite watch. Recently I bought an Invicta Pro Diver in black & gold. Great watch; I love it !
I have to ask, which movement is the better really in the chronology? I’ve read reports that the Swiss movement have reported breakages of teeth on movement wheels.. and reports that the Chinese move is very good and more accurate?
Geoff
Hey Jodie.
I have a Heimdallr Monster if you’d like to review it?
I just got the Invicta and I'm very happy with it.
What about the steeldive homage i have one that i hot used in mint condition for about 90$
The tisell has a brushed ceramic bezel. I know because I have one.
Great video as usual Jody. Love the homage show downs.
I got the Phoibos PY007 a little over a year ago based on your prior review. It was a little tough to find and had to pay a slight premium above the $299 US and I love it. I usually wear a nicer watch to work, perhaps an Omega or Tudor, but almost always switch to this when I get home!
Wearing mine (black version) as we speak.... Worn it on leather, nato, back to steel now, anything goes, strap monster. Them subbie hommages are the shit (would never spend 10K on a watch), a diversified collection needs one. And I think we got the best ;-)
I love my Invictas. Even the logo on the case. Cool.
Love that Tisell, that sweet spot of price, quality and a little bit of a change from the usual. Very nice round up!
I just wanted to say that I recently purchased the 2021 PG Design version and the Bezel action is 100% improved no wobble and the click sound is very refined. I bought it from the most reliable store on aliexpress they delivered in 10 days to the US.
How did #1 do on lume and accuracy?
Hello, quick question. Have you reviewed the stealdive homage? best wishes
Great intro Jody. Well said 👏👏👏
I have the cronos sw200, the Invicta and I have the Squale 1545. I’ve had this since 2015 and runs +2sec year ETA 2824-2
My favorite Submariner homage far and away is the Casio Duro
I agree. Also if interested I bought the bracelet off the Pagani Design Aquaracer homage, it is an excellent bracelet & fits the watch real well, makes it feel really nice to wear.
I remember the invicta pro diver for sale for £25-30 in the shops here in brum
Good review. But SW200 + Swiss made about $400 USD can buy Steinhart watch with 2 years warranty
Does the stienheart compare to the cronos? They look good but I've not handled one.
The Tisel looks incredible. It wins because of omitting of the date.
I wish you had a addies / steel dive in your test. Thank you for another great comparison video. Cheers
Ok you showed an Invicta.....but the wrong one! The 9937OB can be sheaper then the Cronos with the same movement!
No, that is the 9937OB!
Thanks for your research mate. Can you suggest upgrade glide-lock clasp for the Nr.1 Cronos. Just to take it to next level...
What about Sugess (?) I saw they had a submariner homage for 169USD and they claim to use 904L steel. Would love to see one on the channel
What about the phylida pt5000 sub homage? How does it stack up to the cronos? I can't buy an affordable watch Jody hasn't reviewed
Why are you here, why did you click on the video 🤣🤣 laughed out loud at that!
I’m surprised you didn’t cover the Invicta 9937with the Selita movement.
Jody: Please, just one more video on homage Rolex Master GMTs. I seem to be unable to find a quality/affordable Rolex Master GMT, two-tone (Stainless and Yellow Gold) homage. Steinhart comes close, but their pink gold and chocolate versions are not appealing to me. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Jody, who has the best two-tone (black bezel) sub homage? (Not at 43mm like Pagani)
I enjoy these videos but I'm also suffering from submariner fatigue! Great job as usual J. JWMW is definitely comfort food for the soul.
It's a shame you didn't add the San Martin SN019, it's fantastic and knocks my SN017 out of the park!
I have the 17 version 3 which i think is great. apart from the movement whats the difference please to make someone get the 19 as well. Just better quality ?
Hey Jody, I’m looking for a Rolex hulk homage for around $100, willing to go to $250 if it’s Swiss. Any recommendations?
Many thanks for this very interesting video. I've just received my order of an Invicta pro diver. What a marvelous watch regarding to the price ! I am really happy with its design and the mixed brushed/ polished aspect of the bracelet. Thank you again for letting us discover your top10 of all these brands / models ! I could offer myself number10 and i really appreciate, so i guess that other models are fantatisc too !
Why no Steeldive here?
Surprised the San Martin 1953 homage didn't make the list.
Yikes to polished middle links on Submariner homages! I have one watch with a PT5000 movement, a San Martin BB58 homage and I must say it perfoms exceptionally well.
New outro very cool. I know that the only reason the tissel is not #1 is cause the Swiss movement in the back of the cronos. I would be taking the nh35 everytime over the sw200. My watchmaker friend loathes selita
How is the loreo now? I have roughly 70 dollars to buy a new watch. What you will suggest me right now. Please reply.
brilliant countdown. thanks for the up
Great show Jody very helpful as I'm looking for something in the dive watch I really like the cronas
You can never make this video enough. Love it.
