Such an incredibly creative project! I've seen other people make pallet furniture before but nothing like this - so unique and cool. And your filming and editing of the video make this really interesting to watch. Love!
Another UA-cam woodworking channel I watch stated something to the effect of "You only really learn when you go outside your comfort zone" as well as "That's when you get your greatest sense of achievement". Very, very nicely done desk. Such a gorgeous birthday gift.
You are the first person I ever saw who went to salvage the wood, brought it home, removed all the nails, tore it up, torched it, and then made the most beautiful desk out it! Genius!
whenever you do those little pov shots from the shelves, i think to myself “oh, to be a piece of rescued wood in this guy’s shop, waiting to be turned into a new beautiful piece, all the while getting to watch him work on his projects” 😌 your editing as always, was super nice and the whole video was a pleasure to watch. i especially loved the transition of the boards with the torch, it was very smooth and almost star wars like hehe. the finished desk looks absolutely gorgeous!
The desk is a masterpiece. I've never been much for the whole epoxy trend that's going around on UA-cam, but I love charred wood, and the fake "amber" you made just did something to this table that made me LOVE IT. You did it so tastefully, so many others just pour gallons after gallons of either epoxy with color in it, or just clear epoxy - and the epoxy just shows too much. You used it to make a table useful, you shaved down the epoxy as close to the wood as possible which made the wood the focal point, not the epoxy - which is what most people on UA-cam just do not do. I really loved the result. It's *gorgeous* - but what else could I expect from you? You're a wizard when it comes to making furniture!
The desk looks fab. The scorched look is something people either love or hate, and I love it. It's an amazing birthday present, but it's not just the money spent on the products but the time and effort you put into this project that also needs to be appreciated. I hope you got more than a pair of socks for your birthday 🤣.
My dad passed away this year. He was a carpenter. Watching your videos reminds me of him and the good moments I was a kid and he teached me the things he knew. Amazing job. Such a beautiful desk.
bro imagine how nice it must be to receive this on your birthday. the thought, time, and effort put into this are huge gifts on their own and then it's actually crazy useful????? happy late birthday to your brother!!
I have to be honest, I'm not a fan of the scorched look, however, your final product was extremely well done, the epoxy was crazy but turned out incredible for the results. I loved the amber veining you worked into the top. As always your dedication to detail, and showing all your steps you did were worth the end result. Thanks for sharing! Keep up the good work!
Are you an engineer by day? You have quite the imagination and are so truly talented. I’m betting on that your brother is gonna be very shocked and pleased with his birthday gift. I absolutely LOVE your sense of humor too. Thank you for the quality of filming and editing you put into your videos. I always look forward to your post. ❤️👍🏼🇺🇸
The anxiety that I got with shavings going everywhere!!! You did a fabulous job, and it looks perfect with all its imperfections. We can always do things differently and better, but this is perfect for a first time project of this magnitude! Excellent job! Success isn't measured by perfection but by starting something imperfectly!
Just beautiful! Of course. I always love your projects. 😊 If you're ever commissioned to do something like this again with epoxy, you might look into the Nanotech finish (cant remember what it's called) that Blacktail uses. It's expensive but supposed to be crazy durable and it's gorgeous. And pallets are a fantastic wood source. Because they often come from overseas they can use woods like mahogany which is very inexpensive there. Just be careful because they are also treated with some nasty chemicals.
This was amazing! I have seen others grind down epoxy resin, and I don't know how they stand the mess! I'm with you on that. I hope your brother appreciated what it took to make that desk! ❤
this felt super diffferent from your usual projects! i was really surprised to see you foray into this type of design, but in a pleasant way! you did an amazing job; especially considering this is way out of your comfort zone! i wish we could have seen (or heard of, at least) your brother's reaction! i'm sure he loved it but still, it's nice to see people's reactions to gifts :) keep up the good work! i hope we'll get to see many different types of projects from you in the future!!
Originality at its finest! For you Andy, I believe any challenge is worth attempting because of your patience, massive skill set and always going one step in front of others for your modern pieces. You're a trend setter in furniture design! This piece is no different and is stunning. The details in every step are part of your artistry. Really impressed with the outcome of this gorgeous desk. Please tell us how your brother responded??
That routing was truly crazy!! You have so much patience, but I agree with the pain to payoff ratio. This is definitely one of the cooler epoxy table concepts I’ve seen. Side note, I’m going for a two-tone wood stain look in my next project thanks to you! Keep it up!
I LOVED everything about this video! Especially the subtitles rather than the voiceovers because it's such a sensory thing not to have different sounds at the same time.
I missed your videos and I never get tired of watching you work, because I know something awesome is coming through. I've never felt disappointed by your pieces and your imagination. Thank you for sharing.🤗
I don't know what's more impressive -- your vision and skill as a woodworker, or your vision and skill as a filmmaker. You consistently knock me out on both fronts. What? No Hollywood deal yet with William Morris Endeavor? CAA? ICM Partners? Sheesh...those agents are missing a solid bet!
A wonderful project. And I have to add that your videography just gets better and better! I was captivated by the camera work in this one. Comfort zones are nice to have, like a safe, cozy home. But you gotta have adventure, too! Dinosaur claws indeed.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥out of five flames This desk is incredible. I love the look of the dragon scale finish on the wood, and the “amber” dragon scratches are cool! The moving frame is interesting. I hope your brother was thrilled, and that he sees this video and appreciates the work you put into this project. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 rating out of five grade for this project!
I was so thrilled to see you have another video out! That was quite creative and unexpected. Your brother is very lucky to get that desk for his birthday. I can’t wait for your next video.
This was a TRUE labor of love!! What a beautiful gift for your brother!! I'm sure he was very pleased with it. It is amazing!!! I really love your videos....everything about them!!! Your skills are well beyond your age, and you are a creative craftsman. Well done!!!!
Stunning! I realize it was a pain in the ass for you but, it was so satisfying to watch this transformation👏🏼You are an inspiration to many if not all of us 🙋🏼♀️
Wow! You are not only an anointed teacher, creative & skilled....you seek to encourage souls. Quite a bit to celebrate in you! As always, we THANK YOU from our hearts, & ask God to richly bless you!
The amount of shavings off of the resin, omg. It was totally worth it though, this is gorgeous! I love your message at the end. It's hard to move forward as a perfectionist but the best way to learn is by doing!
@@monkeybarmonkeyman It can’t be a miscalculation: he would have said it. Beautiful, beautiful work. This was an interesting video for many reasons: Using pallet wood (good for planet), learned about epoxy, & caulking is the thing I am afraid of & professionals totally make it look easy! You have a lucky brother to be gifted this lovely table.
Glad you add the conclusion at the end; as I was watching, I do wonder if this is worth it to you. Your brother better appreciate this present, happy birthday to him.
Well done, another amazing project. I'm not usually a fan of epoxy because of the rediculous amount of waste generated, loved the gold details - they look like molten lava amongst the black char. Creativity is all about trying, you learn from everything, especially the mistakes!
Always a treat! I was waiting, impatiently I might add, for a new video from you. I love your creativity. Another beautiful creation. Thank you for sharing.
Great advice my sweet friend. This is an absolute work of art!!! You are an artistic genius. For being out of your comfort zone you surely hit this one out of the park. So beautiful. My carpenter and grandson are working on an epoxy table top connected to my 12 foot work table. I’m a 75 yr old grandma and am so excited waiting for it to be finished.🤗🤗💕
Your artistry knows no bounds. You never disappoint.
