Day 36 - Camino Frances - Portomarin to Palas de Rei

Day 36 - Tuesday 8th October - Portomarin to Palas de Rei - 26km
Today was a long day but I divided the 26km up into 5x5km sections and this helped make the day more manageable. There were lots of beautiful flowers today including dahlias and hydrangeas and these flowers made my day. The heavy rain did not eventuate but there was drizzle all day. However there is a storm (ex hurricane) coming in from the Atlantic and the weather forecast for tomorrow includes a severe weather warning with high winds and heavy rain. Pilgrims are being asked to stay off the roads and the tree-ed areas. I have broken the 28km next section into two 14km days… so… if I do decide to risk the road/trail… it will be a relatively short day.
But… nothing will help my poor boots which are now deteriorating to the point where there are holes in my upper and this is going to ensure that I get very wet feet.
