I just changed mine thanks to your simple video. I have a 1998 310 and I think the filter was never replaced. Ugh! The old filter was heavy compared to the replacement. Thanks again for the video. 👍🏻

It's entirely possible that it had overflowed (the 💩 tank), with the liquid passing through - and getting stuck in - the old filter. Happened to us in our old 400 Sedan Bridge boat, back in 2010.
Your new filter should be good for another year or two now 👍 Glad the video helped.

I just did mine last week. A few years ago I modified it so I could refill it with new charcoal instead of buying new every year. Saves a bit of money and was simple to do! Love your videos, thanks for sharing them.

Another video that had me on the edge of my seat! Central Texas 100deg+, tornado damaged marina, lake fluctuation from 19ft low to 16 ft high in 3 months...Canada looks better all the time!

I date mark mine every time I change it same as you would on your motor oil filters . Great video. How is your new marine location .

8 change mine when it starts stinking 🦨 New marina is working out well, despite the drastic changes we've made - but that's the subject of another video 🤓

Overfilled my waste tank during winterization couple yrs ago & contaminated the vent filter.
Disassembled - ShopVac - new media. Won't make that mistake again.
    Big Orange fan here...
Also use a mini label maker & date the various items, so I know at a glance when they were done last.

When we first bought our 400 Sedan Bridge, back in 2010, the very first pump out wasn't done completely. We learned that a few days later when rafting with friends at a beautiful Georgian Bay anchorage and our neighbor starting yelling that our boat was peeing over the side 😳 Yes, the vent filter was compromised and we had to weigh anchor earlier than expected to go get a complete pump out 🙄

That little device is what destroyed my waste tank a year ago. Pump out sucked the charcoal out of the filter (i assume because it was old) which plugged the vent line and the marina ultimately crushed the tank with vacuum pressure. $4500 later, I am enjoying a brand new waste tank and water heater that also was showing it's age. The filter is now a periodic maintenance item.

      When I replaced the holding tank on our 400 Sedan Bridge I installed a unit called a Tank Saver (a one way valve). If you fast forward to roughly the ten minute mark on this video , you'll see what I'm referring to;

Also Big Orange vent filters have a built in bypass valve - to avoid tank collapses. Look into it….

Very informative as always. Gonna check and replace mine for sure. Right now I get the “PU dad!” From the kids when we flush anything. 😂

They seem to go bad over night, but 8 guess it's like anything - it works or it don't 🤓
That said, if you're (or your kids) are catching the wiff of 💩, it's definitely time to replace the filter. And order a spare...

I would have thought like anchor girl. Yahtzee!! Since we play so much.

I've never played Yahtzee in my life, so wouldn't know if it's a card game or board game or ball game, so I guess that's why the association never came to mind 😅

@@BoatingWithBoogaboo Dice! Mary and I have been sort of obsessed with it these past several months. We love to play it on the boat on the salon table.

@@eternitysshore Dice! 🎲 Of course, should have known, but since I don't follow sports or the like of any kind, you'll have to forgive my ignorance. But, now I will be sure to remember what Yahtzee is, so thank you for that.
Now I'm compelled to ask Anchor Girl if she knows what it is 😉
