    I just moved to England from the states and bought a TT. It’s remapped to have higher horsepower and run on more expensive fuel but with fuel prices now that was the one thing that worried me. Thank god for UA-cam because now Im going to call up remap kings and get it back to a more fuel efficient map! Thank you!

      Before you do that you might be best giving a tuner like Devil Developments a ring, they will map it on a rolling road and you'll get a better tune, also the gearbox will be mapped to compliment the engine tune. I've just done a stage 2 to mine and she rips!!! Watch this ua-cam.com/video/_SnX-pGjOmE/v-deo.html

    How much did the remap cost you?

  • @dave11owlett

    Downside to these type of guys is they never data log the car, so they don’t actually know how the car has responded/if it’s running as intended.

    I have a vw and their remap is 20bhp down on a Revo. Also revo update the ecu software to the newest genuine Vw issue before starting too

  • @altypeRR
    @altypeRR 4 роки тому +3

    I’d be interested to know how much these “remaps” cost. They are not really any better than the tuning boxes he was slating. The only way to do a proper remap is by a proper tuner on either a dyno or road tuning.

    • @andykirby
      @andykirby  4 роки тому +2

      I do have to agree with him about the tuning boxes as they are modifying the sensor signals so it could end up causing trouble if a problem developed and the ECU can't do its job to shut things down. Yes a remap on a dyno is a more full proof way of doing it as the tuner can tune specifically for that car however installing a generic map on a new car you'll probably find the performance is as stated. I plan to do a dyno run soon to check what the actual figures are. The remap cost about £240 which I think is great value for money. We just did some 0-60 runs and with two up it's about 4.2 secs.

    • @altypeRR
      @altypeRR 4 роки тому +2

      andy kirby don’t get me wrong I completely agree there. But by changing the map you are also modifying the levels for those inbuilt safety’s. Without a proper measuring tool like a dyno where you can hold the engine in specific conditions to optimise it then it’s always either a guess, not using its full potential or worse overusing it. Road tuning is okay but very difficult to hold that steady state.
      No 2 engines are the same. So while the map they write is based on what works for your make and model it’s never going to be perfect for your car. With modern cars if you run rich you kill the cat or opf. Run lean and it kills the engine.

    • @andykirby
      @andykirby  4 роки тому +1

      Good points there, its definitely worth getting to a dyno if you can.

    • @youngstayoung6633

      @@altypeRR these maps have been developed on the same car on a dynamic. They are well-developed maps from good places . So having it put on by that company on your drive is no different to having it put in at a workshop . You can grt it dynod after

    • @altypeRR
      @altypeRR 3 роки тому

      @@youngstayoung6633 exactly. Having it put on. But that is missing the point. No 2 engines are the same even in identical cars. A bespoke map using a rolling road is the only acceptable solution. Generic model maps are no better than the OEM manufacturers map.

    My TT from factory is 245bhp . Do you recommend these guys ? I'd love to get mine up to 300. Have you had any issues?

    • @andykirby
      @andykirby  2 роки тому +2

      Remap kings do what's called a generic map which is one they have designed and tested on the car. It's not specific to your own car but if your car is running well to start with there will be no problems. They will always check your car before they do the remap to make sure its safe to increase the power.
      The other option is find a company offering a custom remap which involves putting your car on a dyno (rolling road) they will tune your car whilst watching all the diagnostics and measuring power at the wheels. They can also tune your automatic gearbox to compliment the engine power increase, this option is a lot more expensive but you'll get better gains especially if you have added other engine hardware like exhaust and uprated air filter.
      To summarise, Remap Kings did a a great job and the power is amazing, there's been no issues running this for over a year. I will be going custom soon as I've started with other engine mods now and 400BHP is the next goal😎
