I'll be 65 in a couple of weeks and your comedy is outstanding. I go way back and watched Johnny Carson bring on new comedian talent. Johnny would have loved you and you would have been on his show many, many times. Come to Columbus Ohio!!!! Thanks for the laughs.✌️❤️"Ridin'that train, high on cocaine,Casey Jones you better watch that speed". 😂
@@philhanley To. Any idea what area you might have chosen to pursue, as a means of livelihood, had you not been 'blessed' with dyslexia? I'm a fairly intelligent guy, that didn't know it or would have believed in if someone told me I was in my younger years [7-45yrs...yea, that long, 68yrs now]. Because of my own areas of learning 'challenges'. Though not on stage, I'm apparently quick-witted and funny (to some degree) as well. I was planning and pursuing to be an architect from a young kid into high school. But something happened to my brains ability to focus and think in what I'd describe as in a methodical sequential manner or order. It was if someone moved my brains 'distributor' a few degree backwards (my old '65 VW MicroBus had a distributor) OUT OF TIMING. 🤪🙃😜 Anyway, it was very late in life I began to understand myself and gain the degree of self-confidence that had eluded me but I longed for in my younger years [...to 45yrs as I stated]. I guess I could write...have someone help me write a book about it all. I learned to cope with and overcome my infirmities ('disabilities'). So, so glad you appear to have a good handle on yours at so young an age. Anyway. Enjoyed your short clips and glad I found the full set of your routine. Best of luck and success. Be careful of managers and financial advisers/money managers. Be certain you have honorable ones. Maybe wholly unnecessary advise. But I'm laying it out anyway.
Seeing this guy in June and since I bought tickets I’m trying not to watch him on UA-cam cause he’s that good I don’t want the clips to spoil the show- yet I always end up watching and each time they’re super different and each one as funny if not funnier than the last. Guy is by far the quickest, wittiest comedian I’ve seen. Best crowd work ever.
I could watch these all night, i have only just found out about you from the podcast WMBD with Mark Normand, and Sam Morill. You are utterly hilarious!
I found you on YT shorts, binged them and when I backed out I saw you only have 6k subs. Bro you are seriously gonna blow up soon. Killer crowd work, quick on your feet and great delivery. Keep up the hard work
I'm not saying it's the case here, but I find it fascinating that crowd work USUALLY means a comedian's material isn't working and they shift to crowd work to get the room back. But to me, being able to crowd work well is such an art. Comedians that do it well (like Phil, big jay, todd barry, amongst a lot of others) always kill, and to me, I find it so funny and entertaining. Phil should release a whole crowd work set, I KNOW it'd be amazing.
@shanecarter5271 he excels at crowd work for sure, but he's also got written material too. A lot of comedians only post crowd work until they film a special because if they posted their sets or bits, then they'd have no new material for people to buy tickets for. Phil's amazing at crowd work ontop of some really great written bits.
I've seen so many clips that have me cracking up, yet I have never heard you tell a pre-made joke. That takes some extreme confidence and talent to do your type of stand up. Amazing.
I personally like that a comedian can be funny without using a ton of profanity, or swear words. To me, that makes a comedian better. He could do his entire stand up by just working the audience. The timing, cadence, facial, and body gestures add so much to his routine. Excellent!!!
This man is my comedic idol!! True genius!! His whit and intellect is absolutely out of this world! Phil, you are soooo underrated, bro!!! You deserve your own special!!
Man, I normally don't enjoy crowd work, but Phil is so wholesome in these bits that it's hilarious without making me feel bad for the audience members with whom he's interacting. They're into it and it's playful and fun without crossing a line of disrespect. He walks that line so well!
I am 83 and I love your comedy quick on your feet and very funny love that you’re a Grateful Dead fan so is my daughters 62 year old boyfriend love to see you if you come to Suffolk County Long Island ❤
I absolutely love your crowd work Phil! However, the patron telling the boyfriend he’s not even ‘HARD’ware right after finding out he is a ‘SOFT’ware engineer at 4:02 is straight diabolical! I love it when someone in the crowd is fast enough to do their own crowd work. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does it usually leads to a solid gem!
This is about as good as comedy gets. I watch it every time it comes up and crack up throughout. Phil should do a US version of Borat. A character. He is electrically good. Maybe best in the moment rather than scripted and this is a golden moment.
You are so funny and kind and I’m so impressed it’s all improv 😂😊 I live near Yosemite and I just saw you had Sacramento gigs this week! Missed it but I will definitely catch you next time ….thank you so much🤗auntie Nancy 😊

comedians that can do this off the cuff interaction w/ the audience & be hysterical are at the top of the comedian talent skill.
Ian Bagg is also really good at audience interaction.
Stavros is elite at crowd work
Exactly!

True, but also sounds like a job title that you would hear from crowd work.

This is phenomenal, thanks for the extended cut, post more man!
I will!! Thank you!

seriously though. I’m an engineer myself and I don’t see how he isn’t. he’s building jokes instead of bridges or software lmao

Wish this whole Comedy Cellar set was on UA-cam. A ton of great crowd work clips posted from it.
Cellar sets are short, this is probably 1/2 of the whole thing (for what it’s worth)
This man is the coolest, smartest, and quickest stand up guy I've seen in a very long time.
He can't read, so his mind compensated with other skills.
