Keep in mind soldering isn't hard, it just takes lots of practice. Follow the three Simple Rules below and you will have soldering success.
1. make sure your solder and metal is clean
2. solder does not fill gaps, so your join must be clean and flush
3. use the soldering surface to control the heat and keep the torch moving which makes it less likely to overheat or melt your metal
