One thing I would suggest is if you go for a CVT then try to have a CVT with paddle shifters as Honda provides in Jazz and City etc.( Not promoting anything, I have only driven these two only in CVT ). If you need hard acceleration just use paddles to shift down a gear and increase rpm to avoid rubber band effect completely. This sometimes starts giving more fun than manual shifts.

I Have nexon Amt diesel .. gives me 15 to 17 in city and 20 to 23 on highway. Better milage than any known amt to me.
As for jerkey shifts .. its partly true .
It happens only when i slow down suddenly and then try to accelerate quickly that to when moving from 1st to 2nd gear after that its smooth.
The video is a good tutorial on automatics for a layman. But please do explain why so many automakers still persist with torque converters while it has so many shortcomings....especially when mileage is such an important aspect for anyone thinking of going for an automatic.

I am confused between Baleno alpha cvt and nexon xma diesel amt. I want a comfortable ride and mostly will be driving in city. I have Baleno Delta manual in my hometown so probably I shouldn't buy another Baleno. While features and cvt in same price makes me inclined to Baleno. I want to buy nexon but scared of jerky ride with amt. Please suggest

DCT and DSG are different.
Main reason is that DCT is a dry transmission system whereas DSG is a wet transmission system as in fluid is used in addition. DSG is the better option but also an expensive option.

Well said bro. DSG is so addictive. I had a Volkswagen Golf in Australia and since then I am unable to njoi any other transmission. The power and smoothness of the engine was amazing. But yeah you are right once a problem creeps in DSG you are doomed . Ina. Country like Australia where labor is expensive the only thing I could do was sell off the car 😭

Paddle shift is a sophisticated way to shift into manual gear mode. I drive a Honda city and it has the best paddle shifts. Ecosport has the same. Good evening.

Power loss in cvt also depends on the vehicle..for example i20 and jazz have under power cvt so they struggle to move

What is torq converter and can you tell me how is it different than other automatics. I am thinking to buy petrol automatic and narrowed my option between Creta and Ecosport and if i am not wrong both are now run with Torq converters .
