Wow, the "Tera Dil Kahan Hai - Chandani Chauk(1954)" sounds so melodious, no excessive use of percussion, amazing use of Guitar/Ukulele in multi-spectrum musical harmony. Shame that harmony gradually faded away (after 1960's) in Indian / Bollywood music, however, some musicians are attempting to reviving it.
These are the songs based on Hindustani raag pahadi, hence they look similar!!

The beauty of Indian classical music is that "nobody has a monopoly / playright on any Raga / Raag"
It’s a known fact that Raag Pahadi has been the most used raag in Bollywood compositions. So, having so many songs with similar tune based on raag pahadi is but natural. And there would be more such songs.
Raag drupad is also used in many songs, so they are not copied but same raag platform

This was narrated in details by R.D. Burman himself . These are based on the same Raag and also only the meter . You are very right , Roshan, Madan Mohan and R.D. Burman worked very hard to work on these songs by just using the Mukhra meter.
The same tune was also in Telugu movie "Balipeetham" which was released in 1975. The song was "Chandamama rave, Jabilli rave, Ammayai aligindi alaka teerchi pove", sung by V. Rama Krishna & P. Susheela and Music director was Chakravarthi.
This is not copy or inspiration...it is a rendering of the Raga pahadi, albeit with a slight variation.
It surely is. Composition means adding different music to make a new one. Copying means copying and pasting same song, Just changing vocal.
If song is made by a raag/tune and by permission from owner, it would be rather inspiration like Hume aur jeene ki. And RD owns rights

Hai sheti sahab you are absolutely correct. Songs are not copied.
In one of his interviews, RD Burman had said, its about meter. They pick up the meter. Thats how it is. But yes, all the songs do sound very similar. But its very difficult to be always "aware" unless channels like this pull you by the ear and tell you, "now, listen to this". ☺️

"Hume aur jine ki " is one of my favourite hindi song ever.
These songs are remarkably different. Underlying chords may be the same.
"Hume aur jeene ki chahat na hoti" minor scale me hai which is totally different from all songs!! Aur Minor scale Western me to Harmonic ya melodic minor bane aur Indian classical me Raag Kirmani aur Raag Darbari jaise huye!! Aur Baaqi songs bhi alag hain!! Raag ek sa hai par zaada tar songs ki compostion thodi bohut to aapas me mil rhi h par copy nahi hai!! Saari compositions Alag hain!!

The main thing here is all the songs are based on the same meter (chhand) and the beginning of Raag Pahadi. A few notes here and there are obviously different but the meter is the same.

Addition from my side. When Sachinda composed this song, he was having little difficulty in composing song's prelude ( opening tune). Great C. Ramchandraji was recording another song in the same video. When he found about it, he instantly composed this famous tune. I read this story years back in one Marathi book. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name. Will keep searching though. Thanks for sharing this information.

You gave due credit to sachin da who was a towering stalwart in his own right. They did not get inspired in the same way as for example later generations music composers like Nadeem Shravan or Annu Mallik.... who blatantly and shamelessly resorted to outright plagiarism. Which is why the songs of sachin da are still evergreen and well loved by Indians all over the world.

Interesting work, but you can't really just pick the beginnings and say all the songs are based on the first one. It'd be rather fun to see how each director changed the course and gave us wonderful songs. For instance, Roshan did a great job with Rahen Na Rahen Hum after just picking up the start from SD Burman.

Listen to the British composer Ron Goodwin's " (17 February 1925 - 8 January 2003) Return to Paradise" music from his album "Music for an Arabian Night". All these songs (and some more) you have shared have a common thread with these numbers! His music was a great "inspiration " for various old and popular Bollywood songs among music directors at that time.
