Those who know both the languages will understand that Bengali versions are more philosophical and cerebral and sweetly musical while Hindi versions are more lively and peppy. It is truly amazing to savour the taste of both the versions in their own distinct grandeurs.
I am a Konkani working in North Bengal. I have picked up Bengali quite a bit. Yes they have deeper meaning in Bengali.
My favourite being "Chirodini tumi je amaar juge juge ami tomari". Also love "Amaar Shopno Tumi"
Heard this song first time in Durga Pooja Orchestra.
The simple reason is bollywood was and still is mainly a business! Bengali film atleast 30 years ago was not made to just 'Sell"

Bengali music is heart of Indian movie music.Musical masteros S.D.Burmanji, Salildadaji,Hemantdada And Panchamdada's contribution is memorable ,alongwith ,evergreen Kishoredadas vocal and Golden Melodies are excellent examples of Bengal glory

Sahil bhai, there are numerous songs those could be included in this list. Truly music has no boundaries. One of the reasons for popularity of movies, specially hindi, was exceptionally melodious, rethmic tunes, great composer & writers and the great singers like Md Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar, Mukesh, Kishore Kumar , Hemant Kumar , Asha Bhosle etc.Alas! those days are gone. I think it is because bengali people created those, one creates his/her best version of work in his/her mother tongue because it comes more naturally, if it were the opposite, the hindi versions would be superior, that being said, bengali's in general were and still are a bit more artistic than the rest of the country!

Even for me songs often sound better if I don't understand the words. The tune is same though so they should sound very similar even if you don't understand Bengali.

Very well researched. I appreciate your hard work, that too not being a Bengali yourself (am I correct, or are you?) Similarly, you can make videos on many Hindi films which were remakes of or based on earlier Bengali ones. I can suggest few examples below (there are many more):
1) Sagarika 1956 into Prem Patra 1962.
2) Sabar Upare 1955 into Kala Pani 1958.
(The leading pair in the above 2 Bengali films were the legendary Uttam Kumar & Suchitra Sen).
3) Deep Jwele Jai 1959 into Khamoshi 1970.
4) Uttar Falguni 1963 into Mamta 1966.
5) Saat Pake Bandha 1963 into Kora Kagaz 1974.
(The heroin of the above 3 Bengali films was again the legendary Suchitra Sen)
6) Basu Paribar 1952 into Hum Hindustani 1960.
7) Kalo Chhaya 1948 into Apradhi Kaun 1957.
8) Surya Tapa 1965 into Kati Patang 1971.
9) Nishipadma 1970 into Amar Prem 1972.
(The hero of the last 2 Bengali films was the legendary Uttam Kumar).
10) Many films with same title in Bengali and Hindi, the cast and year of making are different, e.g.
Lal Pathar 1964 and 1971. Saheb Bibi Ghulam 1956 and 1962 etc.

Not Palak it's Pulak Bandyopadhyay. Pulak(ecstasy) derives from Sanskrit and also used in Hindi as in the form Pulakit ( ecstatic ).

Bengali song 'O nadire ekti khata.....' also used in the Indo-American English film 'Siddhartha'. Which directed by Conrad Rooks and released on 18th July 1973. Another Bengali song 'Pather klanti bhule......' of old bengali film 'Maru tirtha Hinglaj' also used in the film 'Siddhartha'. All the film music by Hemanta Mukhopadhyay.
