    We did the same level of research before purchasing our bengals. Same disposition, smaller cat and MAN I love my little man but exhausting. The things that shocked me was 1. how much they HATE being on the ground, had to clear off all cabinet tops, tops of curio cabinets, and shelves because if they can jump to it, they will. 2. Also, VERY clingy, walk into a room where they can’t see you they SCREAM until you answer them. 3. Also escape artists….notice I went from plural to single. One of my babies got out and was shot by my neighbor for no reason other than he hated cats. In other words, they are toddlers, if you aren’t prepared to have a 3 year old in your house 24 hours a day for 15 years then please don’t purchase one.

    We found an abandoned kitten in August, I believe she could be an F7 or so. She's so different than other cats, very long legs, body and distinct spots. Her personality is different too. She's about 4-5 months old now, I'm looking forward to see how she develops as she grows. She's a sweetie

    First of all, Savannahs aren't for everyone, even if you think that you are a cat lover. I've had mainly Siamese over my 71 years and I lover the purebreds and their very active, demanding spirits. I bought my Juni (in my icon) after my wife died specifically to be my companion. I bought her a bit late for a kitten at 16 weeks, but I did get her at a more affordable price for a F5. It took her a year to bond with me as a result. Best at around half her age at 8 weeks. But I bought her with the expectancy of roughly the same lifespan for the two of us.
    I've never had a cat with a temper like hers. She can get quite mad at me sometimes. But it makes her devotion and my own towards her all the sweeter to me. She is my little buddy, but not like any dog. She can play pretty rough. When she wants me to get up in the morning, at first she just meows in my face a couple of times. If that doesn't work, often enough I suddenly feel drawn to get up, like tiny little hooks have been stuck in me rather insistently. She goes with me everywhere, loose in the car, into stores and restaurants in her clear plastic sided backpack where she pretty much delights everyone. She made me buy a travel trailer so we could go camping or visiting without worrying about accommodations. If I have to leave her at home, she puts a guilt trip on me. Currently I'm building a screened in porch so that she can go outside and enjoy the birds and the squirrels and the bugs.
    Savannahs are a very demanding breed, even at the F5 level. She owns me every bit as much as I own her. I have the feeling that my life would end if hers did. That's the level of devotion these wonderful cats need and deserve. If you can't give that, don't get one.

    Thanks for this video because you do make it very clear the commitment that is required. It's clear to me now that its more than having the time to spend with my cat. I also don't want my cat to out live me. I'm healthy and very active, but I'm also 81 next month. I have had intentions to get a Bengal cat this summer, learning as much as can over the past 6 months. Living alone at my age is not healthy either thus motivating me to consider having an active cat for companionship. I have no interest in having a lap cat or dog. I'd rather not have any at all in that case.
    So, would an F4 Savannah be a suitable choice for me? Would there be enough of a difference between an F1 and F4 , life expectancy, less demanding, etc.? Possibly a Bengal would still be a better choice. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts on this. If you don’t have time, Ok, I can probably find the answers with more time and reading too.

      @TheSavannahCatWhisperer  Рік тому +3

      Savannah Cats are very hard to re-home. F1 is more active than F4 and a big difference in price too ! You mentioned that you're 81 rehoming any Savannah is not advisable !!

    I agree Joe, people should do serious research into breeders because the world is full of unscrupulous people. In the UK you have to get a license to prove you are able to care for an F1 Savannah cat and I agree that people need to learn how to care for them as well as you do. You can get an F2 without one but they have a lot less Serval DNA as you know but even our F4-SBT Cleopatra is a handful at times and needs special care with her diet. Our F5-A Nefertiti is much more domestic like but has those moment where her wild side comes out. And even though they are much further down the DNA tree than Versace and Armani they are both a lot bigger and heavier than my 2 domestic cats. This kind of information video is crucial so people can make informed decisions!

    There was a very reputable breeder in-town that was getting out of the business, and she offered Savannah's free of charge to us. We're also in Florida where Savannahs are legal.
    We ended up with (2) F4 SBT Blue Sisters. They were four months old at the time. Now they are roughly seven months old plus.
    It was a rocky start at first with both girls. One of the girls while at the groomer to have her nails clipped, panicked (she went completely fight-flight response). The Groomer wrapped her in a towel to stabilize her, and in the process she broke her left leg, right leg, and pelvis. That was a stressful time to say the least; I was being advised to put her down. Luckily, I found a competent Exotic Vet that was recommended by the Breeder. This Vet believed because of her age, her growth plates would remain active until eight months of age, and she would most likely make a full recovery given time and much patience. It took a little over three months of weekly vet visits for her recovery, but she's good now, although I feel she's making up for the three months she was down :)
    After she recovered, her sister one night found a cane toad on the screened in back patio and tried to capture it in her mouth. The toad poisoned her. She instantly started foaming at the mouth and going into seizures; That was a stressful night. She recovered and is fully functional to date.
    My experience with these cats/new family members, they are wonderful animal children-smart children-children, but expensive. To date, I have spent more than twice the cost of what it would have been to purchase them; this does not include food associated cost.
    I'm in a fortunate siltation being 42 years old, and like you with no human kids, so these girls I consider my daughters. We have two son dogs and two girl daughters, but what you said about kenneling them is so true, it's not possible with this breed, or if you do, it's emotionally determinantal to them. I partly regret my choice because of this - vacations are basically out for the life of my girls...but I guess you make sacrifices for what you consider as your family - it is what it is.
    I really appreciate your video, as more people need to understand this breed other than the glamour videos out there. I went in with a very limited crash course understanding. Too many people represent this breed as the dog of cats, but I think this is wrong. My impression is, they are the people of cats. Highly intelligent - Highly emotionally sensitive - Extremely skilled hunters - Very vocal - Extreme loyalty to their family with extreme distaste of outsiders, and a breed that requires massive stimulation, and a understanding of financial responsibility that goes with them.
    I thought I would share a quick summary of my various ownership experience with a few categories:
    Energy:
    My F4's SBTs have an un-exhaustible level of energy that only seems to be silenced during a two to three hour nap after eating their daily raw chicken drumstick they were raised on. They have thier Royal Canin as well as a hard boiled egg, but the raw chicken is what does it.
    Toys:
    I have spent monies on a high-end cat wheel, cat shelves, cat perches, cat walkways. I have built cat wall mounted accessories for them, and they have access to a dog door that gives them access to roughly a 650 sq ft screened in patio where they can be stimulated by the outside safely. They have various cat toys (manual & automated) throughout the house, and occasionally they will go outside on a harness. Usually where they go, I'm with them. When they play with toys, I usually play with them. It took all of this effort to where I now feel they are emotionally stable and non destructive. I've also noticed playing with them when they are playing with their toys keeps them from destroying the toy/s.
    Food:
    They are an Exotic, they require raw chicken in addition to a good high quality food brand (Royal Canin, Blue Buffalo, etc.). Consider this cost.
    Hunters
    They are skilled hunters. If your cat has outside access, be prepared to receive many presents of other animals taking their dying breath.
    Intelligence:
    Very smart, I would put it up there with a four to five year old child. Once you can satisfy their needs, very little discipline if any is needed. They seem to understand what I'm communicating. They learn very fast!
    Vet:
    They require a Vet that is trained to work with Exotic breeds, if not, depending on what's being done, your animal may die. What works on a domestic cat does not mean it works on a exotic cat. Consider this added cost.
    ------
    I'm not really familiar with your channel other than the Algo recommend your video. If your other videos are like this one, then may I suggest a better video quality. This maybe one of the reasons why your channel has the rating you mentioned, besides that, great content.
    You've got a beautiful family and I couldn't agree more, Savannah's are wonderful cats, but that's based on a owner's responsibility to them. If anyone is interested, and has the means to do so, please know what you are getting into, not just for the animals well being, but also for yours.

    This IS the most honest, well informed video about owning Savannah cats I’ve ever watched. All purebred cats are bred for beauty and not functionally as dogs. Most people want the look of the wild animal without any of the wild instincts that come with that look. Tame is as good as it gets with a Serval. As you mentioned this Savannah is a slow grower and all that little kitten cuteness quickly develops into something unexpected for the average human. The largest Maine Coon cat is still domesticated and that’s what I chose. His name is Armani as well. Your cats have the perfect guardian.

    I couldn't agree with you more. I did quite a bit of research before purchasing our Savannah, and we do love him but even for us there are times when it can feel overwhelming and he's only an f5. That being said, I wouldn't give him up for the world!! I do have a couple questions for you though. Just like you've said in your video, we can forget the regular cat toys. I bet I spent hundreds of dollars when we first got Movado and within minutes he had a whole pile of unusable mess. But he really likes the feathers and he won't hardly acknowledge a toy unless it has a bell so we continue to buy them and throw them away which is costly. Any suggestions on toys that you have found to be durable and keep your cats interest at the same time? My second question is what brand of food do you use (we are looking for a better quality than we use now) and where do you get your rabbit ears? I guess that's actually two questions in one. LOL

    • @TheSavannahCatWhisperer
      @TheSavannahCatWhisperer  3 роки тому +4

      Hi Kristin, thank you for your support and questions.... I buy dog toys made by KONG ! Petco or PetSmart carry many different varieties and sizes. Be careful the bells don't get stuck in their tooth, they have slots that can easily break a tooth !! Elastic bands can be swallowed and wrap around intestines and rupture and kill a cat. Toy feathers are fun but have dyes you don't want your cat to ingest ! I did many food videos on my UA-cam Channel, just go to the playlist tab and find my EDUCATIONAL VIDEOS ! As far as the Rabbit Ears, the company does not sell them anymore. Thank you for sharing your story: Joe - The Savannah Cat Whisperer 🐾

    Hey Joe, Maddy, Armani and Versace!! Agree 100% !!! Anipals of ANY kind are a life long commitment -- especially the exotics. I would be a great Savannah owner (I think you know that -- lol), but my age and some other factors (mainly $$$) prevent me -- plus I don't feel I have the necessary room for one -- due to the Savannah's size. That makes me sad -- because I would love to rescue a Savannah that was in need. I do feed my current cats (7) the best food, and I agree about the fact that it DOES make a difference in the vet visits!! I do give my cats the love and attention necessary to keep them happy and well balanced. This video was most PAWsome, Joe, and I do hope people will actually take the time to do the research before considering owning ANY anipal, but especially an exotic pet. Pets are a LIFE commitment and should be treated as such. I, like you, treat my cats as my kids as well -- and wouldn't do it any other way or ever change a thing!! Great video! We have 4 savannahs. They are super high maintenance, but well worth the work and sacrifice. Samson F5sbt 15 yrs old, Leo F3 5 yrs old, Alvin F3 4yrs old, and Oscar F3 2 yrs old (all males). All 4 of these from the same breeder. Amazing animals, they rule our lives. We also had a beautiful F2 marble, Bear, but he was born with diabetes and passed away at 2 1/2 (2018). 🥲
    We have experienced lots, $5k surgery after Leo ate a toy, etc…but we adjust our lives around them. They have access to an outdoor cage from the house. It was necessary. Super smart and always looking for trouble. We have no decorations in our home, they would be destroyed. Lamps are even tough. No vacations here either. Lol These cats are not easy. Hi Joe, my name is Louvie, I have a F-6 SAVANNAH that's about 2 and a half years old and a F-4 SAVANNAH that just made 2 years old, Both are BOYS and they are from different breeders, and from the moment they first met, they were like the best of friends and still are. But, my F-4, was born crypt orchid, meaning one testicle didn't drop, so when I had him neutered, the vet couldn't find the testicle that didn't drop, and told me to wait about 9 months before trying to go in and find it. So needless to say, I researched veterinary clinics for a feline specialist veterinarian that had more experience with crypt orchid cats and some experience with SAVANNAHS, and she had no problem finding the missing testicle, so now it's been about 6 months since his surgery, and my boy still wants to spray, howl, and prowl constantly, and I was wondering if you might have any suggestions on what I could do to get my F-4 to stop spraying? I show him when he does it and tell him no spray , no, no, no spray!!! and I give him time out by putting him in the back bathroom for an hour or so with the napkin that I used to wipe up his spray, putting it in his litter box. This seems to help for a few days, then I catch him spraying again. All my kitts have been fixed and he is the only one that has ever sprayed. Both of my SAVANNAH BOYS are strictly inside cats and I'm disabled and I don't work anymore so I'm home with them all the time, meaning they get lots of play time and attention from their dad, me. So any advice you might have to get my F-4 to stop spraying would greatly be appreciated, Mahalos in advance for any suggestions you might have!

      Great post ! So, my F1 Savannah Cat VERSACE had the same problem. Only 1 testicle. The other never found or wasn't developed. No spraying problems ever. First of all, it's not your cats fault he is spraying. When you wait more than 5 months to fully neuter it's mostly too late for them not to spray ! Giving him a time out will only make him vindictive AND because he got fixed late, his hormones activated him to spray.... Once they spray they will 9 out 10 times will continue. Put liter boxes where he sprays AND add more where he can use the box in each room... If he still sprays give him a shirt that you already wore and he'll most likely claim the shirt by licking, rubbing on it and claim you instead of spraying the wall to mark territory ! He may also spray the shirt, but it's better than the house. Just wash wear and repeat 🤣 having competitive males doesn't help the situation. He may grow out of it. Keep him busy, destracted and he might feel less of a need. But whatever you do.... Don't give him away. He won't do well. Any other questions let me know.... Let me know how it goes ? Are you a Subscriber ?

      @@TheSavannahCatWhisperer, Mahalos for your advice Joe, and no worries, I would never ever even think about giving any of my kitts to another home, like you they are literally my kids, that's why I call em my Kitts. They are literally all I have, and I'm all they have, as we live alone way out in the country on this big ass lake called Toledo Ben. I moved here from HAWAII a few years back to look after my mom, who passed away a couple of years ago, and left me this big ass house in the country, and I really don't know anyone around here, so that's why I said it's literally just me and my kitts, and it looks like I'll be here for a long time now, because when I first got a SAVANNAH, my F-6 , I knew they were legal to own in Louisiana, but I didn't think to Check about back home HAWAII. So I won't be moving back home HAWAII now, at least for the life of my 2 SAVANNAH BOYS. But I honestly think the time out has helped, because he won't spray or even howl for almost a week after he gets a time out. And as soon as I let him out, he just showers me love and rubbs, head butts like he is trying to tell me he's sorry. Lol. They are truly like having a couple of little kids around. SONNY BOY, my F-4 didn't start spraying till right after my baby girl BLUES passed away of CANCER on the 20th of December 2020, she was my black smoke Maine Coon, and only 6.5 years old, but SONNY BOY, and BLUES, were really close, so I thought it might be because of her passing away, he was trying to call her when he starts howling and he usually only sprays where BLUES used to sit and lay down mostly. I just didn't think that cats would grieve and mourn for so long. However, I still cry for the loss of my baby girl BLUES, so why not SONNY BOY too? She truly was the QUEEN of the house, and SONNY BOY, was her favorite of all my other kitts. Joe, I was thinking about trying those plugins called Feliway, but I'm debating between the regular ones or the ones for multiple cats. Do you think those might help, and which one would you suggest if any?

      First of all 🙏 God bless you and your effort in all success ! ( I never heard of them. ) Do what works. Cats spray to mark territory ( owner rights ) when they feel threatened or they are stressed out. Try getting a one fast cat excerise wheel, upgrade their food by buying a high grade, high protein chicken, fish or beef they love and a new dog toy made by KONG and see if any changes.

      @@groovylouvie I did indeed buy those, and since I adopted Teddy, he's settled right down and stopped urinating on my brand new floors. He's a Senior Tabby and about to turn ten years old on July 22. His previous owner died nearly two years ago, and it was several days until the owner's family got to him. As a result, he had severe separation anxiety for several months after I adopted him from LifeLines Animal Project. They loved him over there. The instant I met him, he started rubbing my face with his nose. I used the Felaway for single cats, and I also baught a second litterbox for him to use, and that did the trick. I'd also practiced leaving the house for very short periods of time and increased the times I was "away". Now, he's so incredibly happy when I come home. He loves it when I ring the doorbell when I arrive and meets me near the front door.

      First of all, if you're asking me what to look for in the breed to be sure it's a Savannah Cat...
      You're NOT ready to buy one of any generation.
      First and foremost, YOU NEED TO KNOW ENOUGH ABOUT THIS HYBRID AND BE WILLING TO TAKE ON A 20+ YEAR RESPONSIBILITY AND MAKE MANY SACRIFICES !
      After about a year of some good research and education THEN FIND A REPUTABLE BREEDER.
      If none of this makes sense....
      Do not buy one at all, your question is premature, vague and too indecisive. Take your time.
      TRUST ME, 9 out of 10 people should NOT even own a Savannah Cat, - PERIOD !

Yes they are very very smart and playful and get themselves into trouble

    I see some F1 Savannahs that look remarkably like Servals (much more elongated legs and neck, different coloring, bigger Serval-like ears, etc). Whereas others look more similar to housecats in terms of proportions, like in this video. I've always wondered what determines how "Serval-like" an individual's traits end up being.

    • @TheSavannahCatWhisperer
      @TheSavannahCatWhisperer  11 місяців тому

      Video's and pictures can be deceiving. The only way to see what their size really is,... is in person. Plus, the age of the Savannah. Savannah's are slow growers. Also, what they claim is a Savannah, many times are a Serval.

    They’re very beautiful. Maybe something I might consider in a few years depending on a whole host of circumstances. My Juni, an F5, doesn't like to be held much. But if I take a nap, she's right on top of me. At night, she sleeps either directly in top of me or by my side for the entire night. She makes me feel guilty if I have to disturb her to go to the bathroom.
      As to travel, Juni rides with me loose in my SUV most of the time. I get the driver's seat, she gets the rest of the car with a scratching post, kitty litter box, toys and her own seat in the front passenger side to watch traffic at eye level for her. She can be a bit of a shock to those behind us when they see her little face pop up in the rear glass.
      As to travel, she coerced me into buying a small travel trailer so that she doesn't have to sit alone at home and we won't disturb friend's houses when we go places together.
      For a single old man, she's been perfect...

    So just came across your videos. I'm also a Savannah Mama. But by complete accident twice, Jimmy the Savannah is sitting next to me right now.. Let me explain. I come from Northern Ireland but had been working as a Barrister in London, we're the lawyers who wear the white wigs and black gowns. Northern Ireland is part of the UK but had a separate legal system. Eventually the laws became the same as England and Wales. I was sent to set up a new office for the form over in Northern Ireland.
    I was very excited, as we had a son who was just about to start school and the schools are better here in NI. And we'd be able to have cats again. I went to see some cats which had come from a bad situation and were going to be neutered and sent to farms. One of them was so friendly, he showed us all around and he was a tiny little dude who'd had cat flu as a kitten and was blind in one eye. We took him home with us. Well went and got a carrier and tray and litter and food and toys. I was then contacted by someone who had kittens. I said that my child might be too young but we'd come see them. We got there and the women said if I didn't take them she'd be using water to unalive them. So I took them and it was like having twins for three weeks feeding them kitten formula every two hours, teaching them everything their mum would have taught them like pooping etc... I also made sure my son understood they weren't toys.
    We went to the beach, this was a year later. There were kitten mews coming from somewhere. I walked around the bottom of the cliffs and could see two kittens on a promontory sticking out about 10 foot up. I without thinking climbed up and stuffed them into my coat. I then had to climb back down again. We lived in a very small village down a track, a nice tarmac lane but almost a mile long. I also got the moniker of the mad cat lady.
    So here we go, I get back from walking my son to school. I did a lot of working from home once the office was running. Turns out the kittens were bengals. They had belly button hernias. I had then until 6 months and checked them a few times per day as per instructions from the vet. When they were neutered instead of doing a side incision they did on along the stomach and popped in the hernias when sewing them up. My friend who is a good cat parent took one of the girls and I kept the other.
    We have an issue with dodgy breeders over here and I found out that this was a hereditary condition and if this happens they should stop that blood line and no longer breed that queen. If they're bad breeders they get rid of the kitten with any issues so then can let people come and pick their kittens.
    So here we go properly. I come back from dropping kiddo at school and see a car speeding off, I couldn't get the plate sadly. I then walk back down the lane and find a box. Again mewing coming from the box. Inside are 5 kittens. They're the strangest looking kittens I've ever seen. Like my bengal but with spots and stripy banded and huge ears. So I take the box home and ring the Vet and take them to make sure that they're okay first of all. Yes they're healthy and at least 6 to 8 weeks old. Which is just okay. The vet had never seen cats like this before either. She's an amazing vet btw. She asks if she can have one and I say yes. I pick the cheekiest one and she vetted people and found good homes for the rest of them. She also does a blood test to check for genetic markers. Turns out they're Savannah cats. She goes and does a lot of research and we are told that they're F2s. They think a bengal got at the queen. She really did put the work in to make sure they would get the correct vaccines and what food was needed.
    We name our lad Cinco as he was our fifth cat. My bengal girl decided she would be his mum, for a few weeks, he then became bigger than her! I knew what was going to happen that I could have a cat the size of a small greyhound. He was so smart. Like yourself I bought him dog toys as he got bigger as he'd wreck a cat toy in less than a minute. He learnt to open doors, play fetch. I trained him to bring me his pompoms with hand actions. He was very territorial but our cats acted like a pride with our little inbred one eyed tabby was the boss. Those two boys were hella gay for each other too! We had a lot of land with this house, and a river. Cinco would run around like a lunatic and go swimming. I'm so glad he didn't mind being bathed afterwards!!! He'd try to catch the fish. He got very large. And also VERY protective of my son. If a child got too close he'd get in between them and once a another child raised a hand to my son and Cinco put him to the ground standing on the kid. My son shouted for me and I came out and called off Cinco. Best guard cat ever!!!
    He loved going to the beach. He loved going to the forests too. He would happily walk no a harness and lead. He would get on with everyone and was very friendly when we took him out with us. (Jimmy keeps burbling at me to pet him while writing this)
    I'm fairly sure that whoever dumped those kittens was sucking lemons as the cats became very well known in the area. Also I agree with you that the boys do seem more affectionate. We had him for several years. We ended up moving back to England but not into London, again I was setting up a new office for the firm in the north of England. initially renting, found a place to buy, and this is where this story becomes really sad. Two nights before we were moving to our new home that we'd bought, he got out by accident. He was hit by a car and we lost him. My son was destroyed as he'd let him out by accident. Thank god the person stopped. He even took his shirt off and wrapped Cinco in it. He held him while he went. He had damaged the car. We were all so devastated. I'm crying writing this. By the time we got to him he'd passed and my husband stopped my son and I from getting near. Husband and the man went to the nearest vet. I got to see him the next day, like a funeral home and they'd made him look like nothing had happened but he felt cold.
    Now we have Jimmy the Savannah. A friend bought him, never having had a cat before as he was told they were like dogs. Jimmy is tiny. He has not grown at all since my friend bought him. They also picked the cat that was being bullied by the other cats. Already sounds like a bad situation. And then brought a traumatised cat into a house with a dog. Poor think just stayed on top of the cupboards hissing at people. I'd get up there and let him sniff me and then I'd be allowed to pet him.
    |Sadly my friend had a mental health crisis and he was feeding jimmy Go-Cat, a very very cheap cat food. He was also letting him roam without being vaccinated or neutered. His coat was in a state, he had ear mites and fleas. I convinced him to let me take him and he agreed. So we've had him for 16 months now. He spent the first few months under the bed, where I put a nice warm bed and his food and put his tray in a crate and covered that over with a blanket.
    He then started to come and lie on the bed when we're gone to sleep. he then started to let me put a blanket on him at night. He has a beautiful sleek glistening coat, and is nice and muscular now. He gets a mix of cooked chicken and Hill's Science I /d food which he loves. His personality has really come out too. He's already worked out how to open doors but as we have the circular handles he cannot open them, unless you don't completely close the door and he will then pull it open.
    He has most of the markings to be a Savannah but he is small for a Tom in a regular cat. So I'm not sure if he really is one, he'd be like an F1000 maybe. He has bonded to me. And I will be sitting working and I suddenly have a furry lozenge next to me. And that is cool. I think it will be another year minimum to rehabilitate him completely. He started wanting to play after about 6 months, and we play a lot to keep him from getting bored. He now enjoys being brushed and if I say brushy brush he will bring it to me in his mouth. I haven't been able to teach him to play fetch yet though. He's been neutered and doesn't go outside as we live on a busy main road.
    Love you videos! I'm so sad that they're ending up in rehoming centres and exotic animal centres as they're such wonderful cats but they really are like having another child.

    Why do you feel one should research Savannah cats for 1 year?

    • @TheSavannahCatWhisperer
      @TheSavannahCatWhisperer  Рік тому +3

      Because there is a lot of information you need to know and therefore you should NOT jump right in and buy one as an impulse buy, or emotional buy... But rather an educated buy and a intelligent decision ONLY AFTER REALIZING ALL THE PROS & CONS ! This way the owner is prepared and ready to commit to his or her responsibilities, but more especially and importantly the cat is happy, healthy and thriving !! Nobody should rush such a big responsibility and commitment ! Savannah Cats, especially F1's are NOT for the typical cat owner and requires much more time and commitment ! Actually, I feel you should have to complete a test in order to be AUTHORIZED TO OWN ANY F1 ! In my opinion maybe 1 out of several hundred people should even own such a hybrid cat !! Thank you. 😼👍😻👍

      Good to hear you realize what you can handle, that was the purpose of the video, to make sure these cats don't go to the wrong people. Thank you 👍

    Ah Joe I would love to babysit both of them. No it's not the cat's fault. Yes Joe you and Maddie are so tired, I understand that totally I get it Joe. You have to know what you are getting in to with these kind of cats. Versace and Armani such really good cats they are well behaved. I don't think you should take them to just any vet. I agree Joe it is you. I know how much you love your cats. I know they love you too. Your cats are thriving and they are happy.i hate to see avery unhappy Savannah cat , it makes cry . You do Joe, you are so right, Joe you are the greatest, with those cats they love you totally. I love listening to you Joe , oh yes I do. Talk to later peace out Tina.😇😀❤️👍.

    They are spelled that way, because the first of the breed was named "Savannah" as in the girl's name, not the geographic region.

      @TheSavannahCatWhisperer  Рік тому

      Being a cat lover or single doesn't qualify you for having success with a Savannah ! It takes much more than that, plus the generation of the Savannah is a factor and your education and common sense. If you have a specific question that is less general than the one you asked, that would be more helpful for you !

    Hey Joe, love your channel, certianly a personal favorite. Your absolutely right, your channel is easily one of the most underrated in the youtube community.
    I have found this information useful if a bit disturbing; it definately needs attention because the only ones to actually suffer significant harm are the cats which to me is completely unacceptable.
    Pertaining to the algorithm, ive actually ruminated on literally the same thing. After some thought i do have a suggestion; a way to beat the frequency ratio would be by... frequency. Even if it got no views whatever its still space occupied by Versace and Armani and your loyal core followers would obviously watch it. Or.. what if.. seeing as you got great views on the car, splice it up and create a crossbreed? Like cat car video somehow idfk lol.
    By the way, did Armani ever get used to the Vette?

      Hello and thank you for your support. I felt after doing over 250+ videos of VERSACE and ARMANI and showing them in a POSITIVE environment, it was also my responsibility to do a video to explain not everything is like you see on UA-cam and there are a lot of responsibility and sacrifices one needs to consider before buying a Savannah Cat ! Don't want to be that guy that people watch and then buy a Savannah Cat and then the owner and the Savannah is NOT right for each other !! ARMANI doesn't enjoy car rides as much as VERSACE. Thank you for Subscribing, support and suggestions ! Joe 😎👍🐱👍😻👍

      Of course, happy to help. I also agree with your suggestion on a mandatory ownership test out of fish and game et al to even qualify to possibly own a Savannah Cat; especially the upper generations. Theyre essentially Servals which even though theyre sweet loyal and awesome theyre still kind of wild cats ergo will have wildcat tendencies like chewing things they shouldnt and jumping around like maniacs or even routinely stealing fruit and phones and avocados.
      A personality test at least to ensure the cats safety and well being. I live in a state where its de facto illegal to own them (or really anything thats good fun) but I do very much enjoy watching Armani and Versace! Appreciate your work man. Thanks.

    I have 2 f1 bengals and have just purchased an f1 savannah....while I have no experience with Savannah's I do have experience with EG cats...I hear f1 savannahs are much more outgoing than the f1 bengals...I love my f1 bengals but they are Aholes lol. They love me and my fiancé and son...nobody else can get near them. They aren't mean, just not interested in humans. I pick my new baby up in October :)
