10:35 Interestingly in Lost Odyssey the immortal characters will actually revive themselves during battles after a few turns as long as someone else is alive, you only get a game over if everyone is dead at once.
Lost Odyssey would also benefit from a full-fledged remaster, as would Blue Dragon. Both were marvelous games, but the fact they shipped on multiple discs was a detriment to them I feel, mainly because keeping track of the discs could be a pain. With modern storage media, I could easily see the games getting a graphical overhaul and being able to fit in one disc as opposed to 3 or 4.

Let’s not forget the Xbox 360 was the first console to institute its own reward system in the form of achievements. And Sony wanting to compete more and grab some of Microsoft’s limelight introduced their reward system in the form of trophies. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery after all.

The "Dance with an Angel" dialogue was my first introduction to Ace Combat. I walked in on my brother playing and I was thoroughly confused when he told me it was Ace Combat.
The Xbox 360 is actually the last console I loved before becoming a retro gamer. I remember still buying a PS4 but never using it. The 360 had so many great games. Somehow I remember Deadly Premonition the best. Probably nobody likes it but it was so special that I started to love it.
The 360 was a fantastic console. I remember playing Final Fantasy XI on it (one of the first cross-platform titles) The complete Band with Guitar Hero. The online service was kicking. With a live playable version of 1vs100. It wasn't until I started using it for streaming that turned me away. Gold was required for Netflix, UA-cam, and some other services (including BBC iPlayer here in the UK - which we pay for via a "Tax") it took time before MS removed the "Gold" requirement for these. At this time I managed to grab a PS3 Slim for a decent price where I could now watch BluRays and of course streaming services and play games without a subscription. I sold my 360 and regretted it. The PS3 was just as great and Final Fantasy XIV made it better, but I didn't share the same passion as the 360. It was more than a console. I have since got a replacement 360 for the many exclusives - plus to rejoin my digital library. But all the original passion has long since gone. It's just another console under my TV.
Low subscriber count... But this show keeps it going out of a labor of love and it's been great over the years. Thanks for NEVER ONCE begging or asking for subscribers.

My pc power supply is uh, God maybe close to 15 years old, I got a little more juice than needed, which was mprobably smart. Under all the dust qnd muck, the caps look God awful, leak, bloated, leaning, etc... I reused it from a phenom build into a ryzen build lol.
My phenom was like a parallel build to the 360/ps3/wii ran it for a decade, pushing 5 years on my ryzen now
Pretty sure my dreamcast caps look bad, but I discovered a quiet hack to that loud spin whine, I put a burnt flashback disc in and I thought it broke it, but it plays fine its not loud anymore.
Btw, is that really Dave calling us winners, I got one of those replys too
I LOVE watching Game Sack! I missed playing Gears of War, thinking of picking up the remake now.
I wish I had a surround sound systems. I never cared that much, but now that Game Sack comes in 5.1…
My favorite console, right next to the N64. This white box provided me so much fun and friends. Online gaming was at its peak during this era, imo.
Lol 64...
Lost Odyssey is probably my favorite game on the system.
Joe, thank you for what you doing. It's always a pleasure
12:25 Contra Burger deserves a global fast food chain.
Yeah, it'll taste like Pandas and copious swearing and formulaic generic corporate greed.
Mmm, tastes like Rogue Corps.
I was getting ready to complain about no Bullet Witch, but then you showed it! Bang up job!
You actually supposed to use lockdown aiming in crackdown instead of free aim. The aiming is fine when used properly.
Exactly
"There's a road race nearby agent, put your foot down."
We definitely need a part two
Joe! Perfect timing. I bought a used 360 last week, and I'm enjoying the heck out of it!
Tip for new 360 owner:
Buy none of these games (except Burnout and maybe Halo: Reach, even though it's probably the third best Halo on the console. Crackdown is *fine,* but let's not act like its purpose wasn't the Halo 3 beta)
@@ImTheMayor I wouldn't say to buy none. There are quite many good titles mentioned. But it also lacks tons of quality stuff like PGR etc.
The 5.1 is a great addition. As mentioned in a comment on your text post, it works on the LG C1 UA-cam app.
Usually installing the games on the hard drive improves loading and textures.
@@Gatorade69 True
@@Gatorade69 Yes, but there is very few games that dont accept installations, the battlefield ones for example. Any other game you can simply press X and click on Install, even if the game doesnt offer this option, the dashboard does.
DAMN joe you made ma Sunday morning that much better thank you PLAYER
Great episode, Joe! Never had an X360 myself so I haven't played/heard of some of these games you mentioned so I appreciate the reviews!
Definitely this video put a smile on my face 🥲
Funny how we're in 2022 and most streaming services' sound is still in the dark ages. Half the amazon prime movies I've watched don't properly play through a 5.1 system, drives me nuts
Yeah and then a "feature" of the PS5 is just trying to emulate what great sound systems have been doing for decades with headphones. People hapily buy new tvs but never bother getting anything better than a soundbar; its frustrating.
@@geoffnaylor3734 I use a Sherwood receiver from around 2001. Speakers from 1996 and a sub woofer from around the early 2000s with my TV and it sounds great! There is a ton of great sounding older audio equipment out there that can be had for extremely cheap. So why not put it to good use? Back in the day lots of people had big Hi-Fi setups for their TV but for some reason nobody does that anymore. I don't even think they really sell anything like that anymore, not like they used to anyways. It is all soundbars like you said.
@@HerecomestheCalavera I love old systems, alot of people don't know what they're missing out on these days for sure
The 5.1 surround sound works when I dl the file via JDownloader, thanks for the new format Joe! Missed the Rare games a bit though 😭
Dude, Gears of Wars visuals were groundbreaking for it's time. They would always get mentioned on magazines.
You SOB, I actually turned on my sound bar and dragged out my subwoofer for this. Does sound nicer, though!
Gamesack makes our lives better.
Just saying :)
Didn't think that a game sack video would be the thing that makes me want a surround sound system
You should have mentioned Shadow Complex. A really good METROIDVANIA!
Omg Ninja Blade I been wondering about that game for years but no ones didn't seem to know what I was talking about. Thanks Game Sack !
So cool. Not many people know how to do 5.1 on youtube or how to play it. I use kodi and have spdif passthrough enabled. So when starting this clip, i hear my yamaha dsp e800 say "click" and it shows "dolby digital" on the display!
Very nice. Last time I used a UA-cam plugin for Kodi (years ago) there were a bunch of problems with 2FA and other BS and I eventually just stopped using it. I will have to give it another try!
@@RetroNumanox After installing the Kodi add-on for UA-cam I ran into the exact same problem I was having years ago with authentication. I ended up using JDownloader to download it with AAC 5.1 384kbps audio. I'm looking forward to web browsers (hopefully) supporting multichannel audio sometime in the future.
An absolutely scrumptious episode as always Joe!
GameSack FTW!
Actually there is a Aerosmith song In dead or alive 4 you have to Play as every character and beat them then unlock Helena and beat her story and you’ll get credit with an Aerosmith song
Amazing!
I mean that's the name of the song.
Amazing.
This was awesome to watch, it sounded amazing in 5.1, had no idea it was even a format that UA-cam could support. Would like to see more like this from ye!
Your gamesack is unlimited. Everytime I think that (maybe) there is no uncovered topic of retrogame thematics....gamesack making new episode..and only after first look on thumbnail some guy from Ukraine say "wow, I am always wanted to know bout 5.1 surround!" You are Legends
F he had unlimited games in a sack why does he have a bookcase

Gears of war 3 and Red Dead redemption 2 with the greatest games on the console I love toward mode online that was my first online experience was Ford mode f*** I didn't like fighting people other people I like fighting bots waves of bots
Gears of war 3 we made it to insane level 50 took us about a year for playing it I had a good crew although they was all Mexicans and only two of them spoke English good we managed they were good guys especially one of them was a real good friend of mine but I lost track of him that sucks
I love this kind of episodes. Fantastic work Joe. As usual
I'm nearing 50 years old and have been playing video games since the Intellivision. Red Ring of Death aside -- hey, they fixed it for free! -- the Xbox 360 is my favorite system of all time.
Yeah, they fixed mine for free too. Except they sent another one that eventually broke as well.
Then that kept happening til my warranty ended and they stopped taking them back.
I have owned five separate 360s, and I only bought one. All of them RROD'd
@@ImTheMayor if you install to the HDD, you don’t get the RROD. At least I never did after 1000s of hours of gaming. Everything installed. Nothing running from disc.
@@kaikiske7436 installing to hdd didn't exist when RROD was prevelant.
@@jimmelton5846 rrod will happen right now if you play a game on Xbox 360 to the point of over heating it. RROD, and the later revision of it to the EXXXX error (which is just RROD with a different indicator on the system).. these were “fixed” by allowing you to install to the HDD, thus cutting down on the heat the system creates.
Lol and I'm 41 this year, having started with the Atari 2600, and found the 360/PS3 era so intensely unappealing that I almost quit the hobby for good! Had it not been for Nintendo and indies I'd have never bought another new console after this one
Joe putting the whole system to work. Nice.
We don’t deserve Joe for all the effort he puts in on videos
That character model in Test Drive is hilariously amazing!
The 360 actually outsold the PS3 for most of that console generation. It wasn't until the very end that Sony managed to just pull ahead.
@@Gatorade69 The interesting thing is that early PS3 are as unrealiable as the early 360s, but it was worse because Sony's warranty was garbage and MS actually lost tons of money trying to fix the mess of the red ring. But in comparison very few people mention the yellow light of death compared to the red ring of death, probably because no one had a PS3 on release lol.
@@Gatorade69 not really, Sony was busting out bangers towards the end of the PS3 life cycle. I remember The Last of Us being one big one
@@GenesHand I don't know if I'd go that far. My original 60GB PS3 Fat still works fine to this day, whereas every original 360 is generally expected to red ring at some point.
Let’s not forget the Xbox 360 was the first console to institute its own reward system in the form of achievements. And Sony wanting to compete more and grab some of Microsoft’s limelight introduced their reward system in the form of trophies. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery after all.
Actually nobody knows if the ps3 even outsold 360 in the end, Go look at the last reported sales data for each console. 360 last sales numbers are from 2014 while ps3 last sales numbers are from 2017.
o man all of the chunky audio thanks for this
0:42 That moment when you miss out on something really, REALLY cool... Looks like I need a better sound system, lol
i'm on a 7 year old laptop. It's got speakers at least... lol
Actually I have 5.1.2 and the speaker check Joe does here fails. I'm told UA-cam ONLY supports 2.0 stereo.
@@RedArremer you’re using the wrong device if it didn’t work
Tried on a JBL Bar 5.1 and the Dolby works with my Mi Box S
Awesome video! Mass Effect, Kindoms of Amalur, and Dragon Age were some of my favorites.
The "Dance with an Angel" dialogue was my first introduction to Ace Combat. I walked in on my brother playing and I was thoroughly confused when he told me it was Ace Combat.
I had a serious “wtf” face when that played. Who localizes this stuff??
@@emarskineel "And now I take this briefcase full of highly classified information and wander randomly around a hostile country we recently occupied."
I remember the day when the 360 came out, as well as PS3 and Wii launches. Now all three have been covered. Great, I’m old. THANKS JOE.
I think the first 2 GoW games had a more visceral feel to them than the later games. I think it has to do with the positioning of the camera.
"English, the popular language I am somewhat proficient in." GENIUS!!!!!!
Hooray - congrats on finally getting one of the best systems ever made! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
An exciting Sunday Morning.
Yay! Time to watch this episode with sound meticulously prepared by Joe with my shitty free airplane earphones.
this channel is just so good….
The Xbox 360 is actually the last console I loved before becoming a retro gamer. I remember still buying a PS4 but never using it. The 360 had so many great games. Somehow I remember Deadly Premonition the best. Probably nobody likes it but it was so special that I started to love it.
This was an awesome GameSack episode, and kitty cat wants more treats, now!
Oh man I miss 1vs100! That was a wierd time for Xbox haha I loved getting online every night or week to play that game with the whole crowd, very cool
Low subscriber count... But this show keeps it going out of a labor of love and it's been great over the years. Thanks for NEVER ONCE begging or asking for subscribers.
I've heard that switching to boxers helps with low subscriber count.
I heard years ago that there's a character in Bullet Witch named "John Cougar." Fans of old school G4 and/or Mellencamp should pick this piece of trivia up immediately.
Wonder if he had a special move called "Hurts So Good".
