athena christine-dorsey Roxas' voice has next to no rising inflections whereas Ventus has as many as you'd expect a normal person to have in any given sentence. So while the voice IS the same the tone is not. Roxas' has no emotional conveyance in his voice and has a flat tone to his voice whereas ventus' voice has normal emotional conveyance.
Alex At Six! Thanks for the info. I had to listen to their voices closely and then heard that Ventus's voice is a bit higher that Roxas(it sounded a bit higher)
yeah, they're both in the same octave range, but the voices are made of rising and falling inflections. If you talk with all rising inflections it sounds like a comedic, or emotional character. If you talk with all falling inflections it sounds like a serious or sad or emotionless character depending on how you act it. If you use both (which is the natural way humans speak) you'll sound like a normal person.
2:29 "It's taken me a long time.. but pretty soon, Sora will be his old self again" *couple seconds later* "That was a lie, just like everything else" 😂
Fun fact; the guy who does Scrooge McDuck's voice in these games is the same guy who has been doing it in all Disney productions for decades, and he was born way back in 1919! I think that's really awesome that a guy who is currently nearly a century old is still doing the voice for a classic Disney character. It's almost as if Walt Disney had still been around and still be doing the voice of Mickey Mouse. :)
christopher lee: ww2 spy and nazi killer, speaks several languages fluently including german, is the hammer dracula sauron and count dooku, does movies till this day, has a metal album about his family´s history and is now a VA in videos games. HOW CAN SOMEONE NOT LOVE THIS GUY. SENIOR ACTORs FTW
Axel is voiced by the same guy who did the voice acting for Reno in Final Fantasy VII games and the movie. This is true for both English and Japanese VAs. Same goes for Hojo and Vexen's Japanese and English VA.
Christopher Niosi Not really surprised by the German actor. I remember there being some movies and games that had only one person reading all the lines..
Damn and all of them passed away in the same year. I think Mark Hamill will be the one doing the voice of Xehanort now so at least he will still have a legendary VA voicing him.
I recently saw an interview that confirmed that Haley Joel Osment loves to play Sora, so we don't have to worry about him wanting to quit any time soon.
+Ilicia Rodriguez Square Enix has been getting A-list talent for Final Fantasy ever since Final Fantasy X. Star Ocean 5 is also confirmed to be a unionized cast. *However*...Disney is a very well-respected company & thus can pull in people basically through name alone (though, yes, obviously money is important) So, yeah, I think that many of the celebrities in the KH dubs are due to Disney's influence. Not necessarily money, but influence.
+Huzaifa Ahmed never said Disney didn't have influence. As far as the English dubbing goes, Disney handles all that. The guy said how does Square get all these people to VA. They don't. It's Disney. That's all I meant. Sorry if the money thing three you off.
Many KH voice actors have shared/appeared in the same roles/games both before and after Kingdom Hearts- example; Richard Epcar and Paul St Peter were both in the older Dynasty Warriors, games as Dong Zhuo and Yuan Shao respectively, up until DW5: Empires as Paul left the series before DW6 was made. Weirdly enough, Doug Erholtz (the voice of FF VIII's Squall Leonheart/Leon in Kingdom Hearts II) joined the Dynasty Warriors series in DW6 as Cao Pi, and has recurred the role along with Epcar since. Richard Epcar has also played DC super villain The Joker one two occasions, including Injustice: GAU which also starred Square's current Sephiroth-go-to-voice actor George Newbern as Superman- as George is also DC's go-to-voice for Superman.
How could u forget mentioning the voice actor of Master Eraqus which is Mark Hamill? Who is indeed known to be the one who acted Luke Skywalker in the Star wars movies. Not to mention that the director of Kingdom Hearts Tetsuya Nomura did that on purpose. Because he loves both Star wars and star trek franchises, so he chose leonard nimoy (Spock) to be the voice of Master Xehanort and Mark Hamill ( Luke) which is the voice actor for Master Xehanort's old friend Master Eraqus
+Saad Armouti Plus, Disney owns Star Wars now, so while Hamill's performance as Luke in the original predates Disney's acquisition of the license, he technically acted in a Disney-owned film series. He would later go on to act in the Disney-owned Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
I prefer Lee, tbh because Corey also voices yin sid. Every time i hear ansem the wise talking, I hear yin sid too. But Lee is gone unfortunately, maybe at least Corey does it right
R.I.P Lenard Nimoy and Xehanort's Japanese voice actor (couldn't remember his name). Both died prior to Kingdom Hearts DDD,but did finish recording for KHDDD. I wonder who going to Full in for both(can't say replace since they both portrayed Xehanort buetifully.
I think tthat Chris just picked bad voice clips, Lee's clip focuses on the vowel "o" while Burton's clip focused on the "a" vowel, producing two different sounding clips.
When comparing Corey and Christopher lee's voices. I think I noticed that Corey is slightly deeper than Lee. Which is impressive considering how deep Lee's voice is.
Another interesting note to know about Chikao and Akio Ohtsuka. In the Japanese version of the Metal Gear Solid series, Akio Ohtsuka voiced Solid Snake and Big Boss. While his father Chikao, went on to voice Dr. Eggman in the Japanese version of the Sonic series, starting with Sonic Adventure 1, and all the way to Lost World. This includes Sonic X and all Sonic animated films. Hence why that codec call involving Sonic in Super Smash Bros. Brawl is funnier, knowing this little fact. "Something about that hedgehog rubs me the wrong way..."
Christopher Niosi You are more than welcome to, Chris. Also, just out of sheer curiosity, do you think you can do a BlazBlue episode of "Did You Know Voice Acting"?
Christopher Niosi When you do get the chance to play through the series, there is a CRAP ton of trivia to extract. Example 1: Hazma/Yuuki Terumi had a total of three English Actors. From Calamity Trigger's Story mode to Continuum Shift 1, Erik Davies was the official voice of the character. By the time Continuum Shift 2 was released, Spike Spencer (who also voice the blob of bugs, Arakune) had stepped in to voice the character for the extra scene that was added in the Arcade Mode. Needless to say, a lot of people disliked his performance. By the time Extend was released, Hazama's official English actor was Doug Erholtz and had went on to voice the character (plus his Dark War counter-part) in the most recent entry in the series, Chrono Phantasma. Example 2: Tomokazu Sugita (the Japanese voice actor of Ragna the Bloodedge) and Yuichi Nakamura (the Japanese Voice Actor of Hazama/Yuuki Terumi) not only play BlazBlue in their spare time, but they are also friends in real life. Example 3: Rachel's English voice actress, Mela Lee, had also voiced the main character of the somewhat obscure and underrated PS3 RPG, Trinity Universe. To think, that's just barely scratching the surface of this series trivia.
The casting of Chikao Ohtsuka as Master Xehanort was also fitting for homage purposes as well, especially in Ventus' story. In short, in that particular plot thread, Chikao Ohtsuka plays an intelligent bald man with conspicuous facial hair who tries to defeat a fast free-spirited teenager by creating a duplicate of him designed to beat him at his own game; said duplicate has some identity issues, a somewhat rebellious nature, and wants to prove to his creator that he is, in a sense, the "real" Ventus... sound familiar?
I always thought that Kingdom Hearts have the most heartfelt voicing ever, I don't know, it's just like The Last of Us, I can feel the suffering or the happiness in the character voice.
Side-by-side, I can detect a subtle difference between Burton and Lee, but honestly, watching Clone Wars, I would've never guessed it was a different guy than the movie! Guess it just goes to show you what reading the end credits can teach you :)
I was not expecting you to reference Bobobo on a Kingdom Hearts video. (Yes I'm a fan of that. I thought the Don Patch avatar people keep pointing out to me made that clear)
Whenever I hear Richard Epcar's Ansem, all I can think of is Raiden from Mortal Kombat 9 & MKX. No really, close your eyes and listen to that part of the video lol.
Ansem the Wise came as the most surprising one of the whole lot but the change in Voice actors were hardly ever noticed, that means they did such good jobs
I'd known Lee hadn't kept voicing DiZ but the voices we're so similar I'd still assumed it was him some how The Clone Wars was a great series and Corey did an excellent job there too He has the perfect impression
I was actually wondering if you planned on a Did You Know Voice Acting for Disney. This turned out to be a close enough pleasant surprise. Corey Burton also played a LOT of characters for Disney, some of which carried over to Kingdom Hearts, like Chip in Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers, and even Captain Hook, who he's the current go-to guy for for Disney. His role as Yen Sid from Sorcerer's Apprentice carried on to future titles like Epic Mickey.
I look forward to seeing that. And maybe one on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. And, if you can, consider getting in contact with Andre Meadows of Black Nerd Comedy to voice for DYKVA TMNT, because he would be the ideal expert to talk Turtle voices. Just a thought.
the one voice actor i remembered was quinton flynn who voiced axel, because i remember seeing his name in the credits of metal gear solid as raiden and no more heroes, ( i forgot who he was there)
I need Yuki Kaji to be in Kingdom Hearts.. ever since I got into anime less then a year ago i've followed him and all his work. Very talented actor... Given me lots of laughs over the many different series he has done. (Alibaba, Meliodas, Eren... even Issei! )
surprise you didn't mention that Jesse McCartney also does the voice of Terence (A dust keeper fairy) from the Tinkerbell movies, or that David Gallagher voiced Seiji Amasawa from Hayao Miyazaki's Whispers of the Heart which was film distributed by Disney. Anyway, really good vid. I learn a lot of fun facts from these videos. Good job!
Brittany Snow also voiced Shizuku in Whisper of the Heart by Hayao Miyazaki. I'm pretty sure Disney had a part in dubbing the english version around the year 2000 or something.
Another fun fact that should've been in here: the VA for Master Eraqus is Mark Hamill, the same VA for the JOKER in Batman Arkham asylum and Arkham City.
Fun fact, in the PS4 1.5+2.5 Bundle, for Birth By Sleep, the scene with Young Xehanort talking was redone by Ben Diskin(Young Xehanort in Dream Drop Distance) instead of David Gallagher(Riku)
4:35 Not only is Leonard Nimoy mostly know as Spock from the original Star Trek series, but he's also know as the voice of Galvatron from Transformers the Movie (Galvatron was later voiced by Frank Welker for Transformers G1 Seasons 3 - 4) and Sentinel Prime from Transformers Dark of the Moon.
Wow Nimoy and Sir Christopher Lee o.o Did not see that coming...then again if I'd played kingdom hearts 2 I probably woulda recognized it immediately. Also that guys impression of Lee is amazing, I had honestly thought it was Lee doing Dooku in the Clone Wars XD
funny fact : chikao and akio otsuka are both voices in metal gear, and the funniest part is that Akio is snake's official voice, and chikao is Big Boss' voice IN MGS 4. so chikao and akio played as well, à father and a son. and they also played à younger form of the same person.
In the French dub, Roxas is voiced by Hervé Rey whose also Peter Pan in the anime, the 1st Peter Pan, Return to Neverland and when Peter Pan appared in Kingdom Hearts while Naminé is voiced by Camille Donda who already voiced Lilo in Lilo & Stitch and Hanna Montana in French but only on the Playstation 2 version.
I met Paul St. Peter at a convention. He's a very nice person and you can tell just by being around him that he goes out of his way to impress his fans.
Oddly enough if you wanted to continue on this fact, basically every Organization member (excluding some mentioned in this video) have all been voiced in the Final Fantasy series or at least some I've looked into. Most of the original Disney voice actors were brought back for there roles as their own characters, including the original Alice for Alice and Wonderland playing her own respective role. There are a few cases I believe, but most were brought in. Oddly enough, it would have been funny if Quinton Flynn- voice for Axel also voiced as Timon since in the Disney Spinoff of the Lion King (Timon and Pumba) he voiced Timon in all of season 1.
Two things that were left out one was master Eriquiz who was voiced by Mark Hamill, ironically both him and master Xehanort were enemies in the game, kind of ironic since Star Wars and Star Trek have been rival franchises for years, It also all comes back to Disney as they currently have rights to Star Wars
the second is that the voice Genie who was portrayed by Robbin Williams in both aladin 1 and 3 did repries his role as genie. Also What's interesting that Aladdin is played by Steve (Full House)'s actor who did the voice for Aladdin.
I like how, even with the same Va, he made Roxas and Ventus sound different.
Really? Roxas and Ventus sound the same to me. It took me a while to figure out that Vanitas's voice was a deeper Sora voice.
athena christine-dorsey Roxas' voice has next to no rising inflections whereas Ventus has as many as you'd expect a normal person to have in any given sentence. So while the voice IS the same the tone is not. Roxas' has no emotional conveyance in his voice and has a flat tone to his voice whereas ventus' voice has normal emotional conveyance.
Alex At Six!
Which makes perfect sense for the characters.
Alex At Six! Thanks for the info. I had to listen to their voices closely and then heard that Ventus's voice is a bit higher that Roxas(it sounded a bit higher)

Mark Hamill voiced Eraqus in Birth By Sleep. That is a thing.
Drake Bell voices Young Eraqus, too. We’ve got the best dream team for this character.
Eraqus is a FUCKING JEDI
EEEEYA!
so how many star wars v.a.s are in Kingdom hearts?
@@Aybeece This didn’t age well
Fun Fact: Ariel Winter also voiced Marlene from the original FF7 Advent Children.
Did she? Ayy
Her sister voices Larxene
Sofia the First
2:29 "It's taken me a long time.. but pretty soon, Sora will be his old self again"
*couple seconds later*
"That was a lie, just like everything else" 😂
Artorias X Sif 🤣🤣🤣
OMFG
lines can be taken out of context and have no context when taken apart and/or rearranged so easily in kingdom hearts
DHTGK true but how he chose those lines...no others....and in that specific order.....
Darkari Demon doesn’t he get theses clips from behind the voice actors or something?
Fun fact; the guy who does Scrooge McDuck's voice in these games is the same guy who has been doing it in all Disney productions for decades, and he was born way back in 1919! I think that's really awesome that a guy who is currently nearly a century old is still doing the voice for a classic Disney character. HOW CAN SOMEONE NOT LOVE THIS GUY. SENIOR ACTORs FTW
Fun fact: the voice actress for Alice from Alice in Wonderland reprised her role 50 years later for the first game.
Axel is voiced by the same guy who did the voice acting for Reno in Final Fantasy VII games and the movie. This is true for both English and Japanese VAs. Same goes for Hojo and Vexen's Japanese and English VA.
Wow, that's cool. I thought that Reno's voice sounded familiar, no wonder!
This is also true for the french voice actor.
***** Interesting! Who is Reno and Axel's French actor? Apparently their German actor is the same as well.
Christopher Niosi
Not really surprised by the German actor. I remember there being some movies and games that had only one person reading all the lines..
Quinton Flynn is his name
"He's using the fist of the Nosehair technique!"
NEver in my life did I imagine those words coming from Xemnas' mouth...
i know, I imagine Xemnas saying it and I can't stop laughing
Oh man I wish Billy Zane stayed as Ansem SoD, Richard Epcar was great no doubt, but Billy Zane blew my mind! Such a chilling vocal performance.
did you know in the Japanese version of kingdom hearts riku is voiced by the same voice actor who also voiced Light Yagami from the anime death note
And a bazillion other characters. Dark in D.N.Angel, Ichinose in Uta Pri, Rin Matsuoka in Free!, to name a few.
dude does alot of characters, he voiced asano gakushuu in assassination, and dazai in bungou stray dogs as well i think
Now, Kappei Yamaguchi plays Red XIII in FFVII Remake.
@@CamelQueen He’s also our favorite blondy himself Ryuji Sakamoto/Skull from P5.
Chikao Otsuka, Leonard Nimoy & Christopher Lee. 3 legendary VA's that lent their talent to this game. RIP.

Corey Burton most likely. He's filled in for him many times.
*****
Beats me.

RIP Christopher Lee - Lucky they have Cory as his back-up for Kingdom Hearts III.
+Stelios78910 The real question is, who will they get for Lennard Nemoy?
How do you know that?
GameStation3
Know what mate?
Stelios78910
How does he that Peter Renaday will replace Leonard Nimoy?
Oh right can't answer that, maybe Google it, I thought you were replying to my original comment. Peace.
Funny enough, in KH1, Sephiroth was voiced by Lance Bass, from N'Sync. After that, he's been voiced by George Newbern since.
Still iconic asf
How the hell did Square get such a stacked VO cast for the KH series?
+Max Wilmot because of how well known they are and the quality of their games. Plus getting a contract with Disney helps.
It's mostly Disney. They have the money.
+Ilicia Rodriguez
Square Enix has been getting A-list talent for Final Fantasy ever since Final Fantasy X.
Star Ocean 5 is also confirmed to be a unionized cast.

***** Right on. But it's worth clarifying that SquEnix has historically had the biggest-budgeted of all JRPG dubs
Many KH voice actors have shared/appeared in the same roles/games both before and after Kingdom Hearts- example;

***** They are not a Jedi yet. lol
I can hear the difference between Lee and Burton.
Though Burton does a hell of a job imitating Lee, his voice does sound a little bit deeper.
+LeeHatake93 It also sounds less "sharp"
Yeah, there is a slight difference in the voices, but props to Burton for doing such a good match.

2- If other Kingdom Hearts games comes in the future will you make part two?
I plan on doing a second installment down the line!

It's not the voice clip, I noticed the change in voice actor as soon as he started talking when I played the games.

LinkinMark1994 Yeah, pretty much that

Corey Burton... how does that voice come out of that face?
+John Watson Not to mention that he's the first person to have a page on Behind the Voice Actors website.
If only Richard Epcar could do as good an impersonation of Billy Zane as Corey Burton can of
Christopher Lee...Zane was perfect for Ansem! SUBMIT!!

Axel is voiced by Quinton Flynn A.K.A Raiden from the MGS series, Kon from bleach, and Isaaru from FFx-X2 thats kind of a big one to miss
rw:HJO also became the voice and costume character of Beary from THE COUNTRY BEARS
Me and my friend always called the mixture of Terra and Xehanort, Terranort but then we realized iT SOUNDED LIKE A SHIPPING NAME AND WE SCREAMED
Ok, I legit jumped out of my chair when I heard Corey Burton's voice match to Christopher Lee. What the heck!! It's so uncanny!
Hayden Panettiere, the voice of Kairi, was also in Bring It On. Omg, does this mean Kairi can dance?
I was not expecting you to reference Bobobo on a Kingdom Hearts video. (Yes I'm a fan of that. I thought the Don Patch avatar people keep pointing out to me made that clear)

I had NO IDEA Christopher Lee had been recast/replaced!
Geez, who knew there would be such thing as too many celebrities. LOL
R.I.P Leonard Nimoy. for anyone asking I just heard on the news he died :(
Richard Bakalyan died the same day FYI.
He's also done work for Disney.
CuriousUserX90 r.i.p Richard Bakalyn
RIP Christopher Lee :'c
Now Christopher Lee too...
Lunar Blossom no he's still alive. who do u think played saruman in the hobbit, liam neeson
Idk what it is, but billy zanes voice from KH1 just does something to me, no homo
judging by the comments, we'll be seeing a sequel to this entry at some point.
;]
Christopher Niosi Oh thank fucking god cuz I was like "You bearly scratched the surface!"
Bobobo and Ansem... wow.
not to mention myotismon from digimon
This man explained the most complex character relations so simply lol
Xehanort: "he's using the fist of the nose hair technique!" HAHAHA
This is a great episode! It needs a part 2 for all the Disney voices and ff voices tho, not to mention the other characters
I miss Christopher Lee :(
I had to pause the video for a good 10 seconds when he pronounced "Enix" like that.
That Bobobo show brought good memories... :3
oh riku! ....aaaand i'm lost, goddamn kingdom hearts' plot
I showed my friend (who's never played KH) a scene from DDD, and he totally recognized Corey Burton as Cristopher Lee.
''A Kairi Doppelganger''
you know, could've said Xion
Ansem the Wise came as the most surprising one of the whole lot
but the change in Voice actors were hardly ever noticed, that means they did such good jobs
My god.... Bobobo and Battleship are Ansem and Xemnes..... my mind is blown...
The voice actress of young Kairi is the younger sister of the voice actress of Larxene.
Oh wow. That last voice match with Duku's actor was amazing.
I love the Chikao/Akioh Otsuka dynamic! Both are amazing VAs!
Wow... that guy's Count Dooku/Christopher Lee is amazing!
I'd known Lee hadn't kept voicing DiZ but the voices we're so similar I'd still assumed it was him some how
The Clone Wars was a great series and Corey did an excellent job there too
He has the perfect impression
That Christopher Lee voice match genuinely surprised me. If anything, he sounds more like Christopher Lee than even Christopher Lee does.
The two voice actors are awesome I can't tell the difference.
2:10 Vergil?
Other interesting fact is that Alice's voice actor in KH1 is actually same who voiced her in 1951 Disney movie.
Awesome!
And, if you can, consider getting in contact with Andre Meadows of Black Nerd Comedy to voice for DYKVA TMNT, because he would be the ideal expert to talk Turtle voices.
Just a thought.
Corey played Dale in Chip & Dale rescue rangers. Chip is played by Tress McNeil who has voiced a lot of Disney characters.
the one voice actor i remembered was quinton flynn who voiced axel, because i remember seeing his name in the credits of metal gear solid as raiden and no more heroes, ( i forgot who he was there)
Gotta love Leonard Nimoy as Xehanort. That deep evil voice...
R.I.P. Chikao Otsuka & God bless his soul. TT_TT
If there's a Part 2, the Ionic Disney Characters should be worth mentioning of their Voice Actor's.
Quite Interesting History Behind them.
Riku's voice actor also played the male lead in the English dub of Whispers of the Heart, which, if I remember correctly, was dubbed by Disney. ^_^
Oh, he did! Granted that was after being cast in KH1, but I should've mentioned that!
Also Merlin is voiced by Johnny Bravo
Soras voice actor kind of looks like sora
YEEEESSSS CHRIS YOU FINALLY DID THE BEST SERIES!! THANK YOU :D
The Bobobo-bobobobo thing blew my mind.
Xehanort's American and Japanese VAs passed away
2:21 You forgot to mention that she was in the DCOM Camp Rock.
You know i always wondered why Haley Joel Osment isn't in movies anymore but the Disney sequels explains it all.
Thank you so much. This is literally a mix of two of my favorite things.
And now I will never unhear Count Dooku from Ansem.
Kingdom Hearts' story is more complicated than math itself
There's also Mark Hamill who was in one of the KH game but I'm sure you'll do a part 2 to include him. But this was a very good video
That guy can do a really great impression of Christopher Lee! :D
Akio Otsuka also mocapped for Big Boss in Ground Zeroes.
I like Quinton Flynn because he voices Axel (KH), Henry (NMH), Silver (STH), and Raiden (MGRR). Pretty damn AWESOME
Dise fact Meaghan Martin also played in Disney's Camp rock as well
Did you know that Demyx (Member of the Organization) is the same voice actor of Randall from the Disney TV show Recess?
Aqua is voiced by Willa Holland who is most know for her role as Thea Queen/Speedy in CW’s Arrow
Richard epcar also voiced batou in ghost in the shell
one thing that wasn't mentioned in both episodes is that King Mickey''s teacher, master Yen Sid, was also voiced by Corey Burton.
