If you have a new clutch, or you have just bought a Phatmoto Rover, before you ride it, or after you cruised down the block once, lube the clutch bushing. Oil it before you ride. These clutches come with a dry bushing, I can't tell you how many fire up there Phatmoto's cruise around and shortly start complaining what is that screeching noise, and lurching ahead, stalling the engine. It's a dry clutch bushing, oil it and spend your time riding.
Just as a comparison between the Max Torque and the Chinese copy. When the new copy out of the box was spun, it didn't, even after a tear down and 2 oilings in only spun so good. But the Max Torque out of the box spun well, maybe 10 - 12 = 15 revolutions.
@@KushManeLucio If you are buying a brand new Phatmoto Rover or All Terrain motorized bike, it now comes with a very high quality Hilliard race inspired clutch. The clutch has lightened shoes and a spring combination set for the bike. So I would hold off on buying a Max Torque for a while. You will need to oil the bushing first thing as they can be dry when new. The clutch specs for that bike is 5/8" bore, 11 or 12 tooth #35 chain. Earlier models came with the cheaper clone clutch, but since mid 2021 year models come with the Hilliard.
Hi, I added a video to my play list on my channel, called "How to Do Videos", check out donyboy73 video on How To - Generator Pull Cord Repair" Just go to my channel and click on the playlist How to Do Videos. He does a great job of showing how to replace the pull cord.
Thank you beau! I oiled my clutch incorrectly due to other videos and now it’s slipping, I’m not worried about buying another but I’d like to save this clutch if possible, any tips?
Any thing I recommend in my videos is what has worked for me. Please do your research and do what works for you. If you disagree with what I say, fine that is okay. Make the changes or upgrades that fit your needs and riding style. You'll need to buy a 41 chain
Any one considering buying a new Phatmoto, as soon as you get your bike oil the clutch bushing before you ride. ALERT: Please do this, your jack shaft bolts need loctite, use it and let it sit 24 hrs. before riding. Be very careful when tightening the bolts they are cheap Chinese and when over torqued they will break. It is recommended to replace them with grade 8 bolts. Also the bolts that hold the sprocket / brake disc need loctite also. The bolts that hold the crank arms need loctite too. These three areas are a common failure on the new bikes, be proactive and use loctite. Let it cure over night or 24 hours, do this and you'll save some frustration. Okay enjoy your new bike.
Hi I have the yellow one 2021 it came with the hilliard clutch can you put a torque converter on it we go for long rides and those clutch seems to be crap
@@benjibarnett1962 Torque converter can be made to fit with modification. They mostly are for 3/4 shafts, yours has a 5/8. You are lucky the new Phatmoto comes with a very upgraded Hilliard clutch. It has a heat treated, hardened hub, and light weight racing shoes. I and a friend spent months testing various spring and shoe combos for Hilliard for Phatmoto. to put on the new bikes.. A big upgrade to the stock Chinese clutch.
The oil I use can be bought at Ace Hardware for about $3 to $4. You can use any oil, 30w motor oil is good. The key thing is allowing it to soak into the bronze oilite bushing. 3 in 1 oil in the can with a small piece of tubing would work also. The turbine oil I use is good because it holds up to heat and is designed for bushings that spin. Also the flexible spout makes for easy oiling when the clutch is on the bike. Thanks for watching
You can use it as your cleaner on the drum, shoes etc. But you must use a lubricating oil on the bushing. No grease, no silicone sprays, no teflon sprays, just oil.
Update to this info: it is recommended to not not use brake clean, or carb cleaner or any solvent with a super degreasing outcome. It is best to use WD 40 to clean. If you use the other solvents it leeches out out all the oil in shoes and drum etc. and causes the clutch to grab aggressively.
google: 10 things to know about a centrifugal clutch-ombwarehouse They sell many clutches and have sold them for years, they know what they talk about,
For one I don't always ride regular, for 2, you only use a couple of drops at a time, for 3 clutch bushings need oil at a regular regimen. You aren't using massive amounts at a time.

good info thanks
Does the bottle of the turbine oil that you are using in this video say zoom spout? What’s the part number on the bottle?
Yes it does say Zoom Spout. Part number 75A. I've had the bottle for a couple of years, used it on 3 or 4 clutches and still have half a bottle left.
Thank you so much am going to my nearest ace hardware store to get a few bottles
The zoom spout bottles I got were sewing machine oil.. Much newer video you mentioned the zoom spout
