Choosing a name for your business can be difficult. A lot of people have an internal debate if they should create and grow their personal brand or if it would be better to give their business a name and grow a business brand.
In many cases, it’s completely valid to choose either one. In the examples of the video such as when I searched for “yoga for men” you can see that you have examples where it’s just someone’s name, its name + fitness or they use a business name.
If you choose to give your business a name, make sure that you don’t choose something too focused and doesn’t incorporate all of the things related to your business. You see that in the examples of this video with Solopreneur Sidekick, TheContentBug, Backlinko, and Smart Passive Income. You can see all four of these examples are now more focused on growing their personal brands (Louise Henry, Catherin Manning, Brian Dean, and Pat Flynn, respectively).
You’ll also notice that many people/businesses change their names. The important thing for you here is to make a decision and start building your business instead of getting stuck on the name/branding decision. It’s more important to create meaning for your business because you have a great product or service than choosing the “perfect name” for your business.
If you’re still on the fence, I'd say develop your personal brand instead of build a business brand. You have more flexibility over time with your personal brand. Look at Gary Vee! He was the “wine guy” and now he’s the “business, entrepreneurship, marketing guy”. If he had focused on building a business brand instead of his own personal branding, he would have had more difficulties making that transition and being known in a new industry.

I started our with a Business Brand. However I noticed at some point that people engaged more with my Personal Facebook page than they did with my business page. So I started a personal UA-cam Channel.
It took the Business UA-cam Channel over a year to hit 100 Subs but the personal one did in a few Months. The Business Channel didn't hit 10,000 views in over a year, the personal one hit it in a few months as well.
Right now, I am growing both concurrently with more focus on the personal brand. I can run whatever business I want as a person and promote a book or anything. But the Business page has to Strictly talking about Financial Trading and that's it.

What I do love about people who are going to a personal branding business or channel is that UA-cam was originally created for people… Every day people to get on their platform! And then of course the shift of business is getting on UA-cam sort of made everybody feel like you had to be a business to be on UA-cam… And so I’m glad people are going back to the original reasons of why UA-cam it’s called “YOU” tube.

Thanks for this. Ill have to check it out. I am pretty "solid" with my brand name now and what it's all about. I am just a bit scattered in getting all my material out on the myriad of platforms.

I am only 32 subscribers in and even I started feeling limited with the brand name I chose: Hello Humble Home. I started to feel that people might think my channel is either about home making or interior design… I originally chose it with the idea of it being my website if I ever became a mortgage loan originator, since I am in the mortgage business.
But, The first couple videos I recorded, the n saying “hello humble home”, it started to feel like a little bit of a tongue twister saying an “H” sound 3 times in a row.
but I also realized that if I said the name of my UA-cam channel in any of my videos, in the event that (God for bid) UA-cam shuts my channel down… I have hindered myself for re-posting those videos under a new account.
I did recently purchase my domain name from Go Daddy and I am starting the process of switching over. The one issue I am having right now is deciding if I should just invite the world into my personal Instagram account and Facebook page… Or create what is my business variation of my personal account.
Example: my personal Instagram and Facebook account both have “Alicia Marie Mapp” and I was thinking about making my “business personal friend account named just “Alicia Mapp.”
Another problem I’m having is that I love my last name but I love it when I use my middle name because it just flows better even though the domain would be longer.
The only thing I’m worried about that I have yet to hear anybody discuss their video about personal branding versus business name branding is people who are out there trying to build a personal brand… A lot of us have jobs or are looking. Part of the reason why I actually created a business brand name is because I didn’t want an employer to
Find me online - I would assume that most companies Google you or Facebook search you trying to see if they can find any dirt on you to decide if they’re gonna offer you a position.
I never wanted to hinder an opportunity if they found out I was trying to get on UA-cam. Some companies make you sign a document that states you are not running a business outside of the job... I’ve had it happen before.
The second thing that made me want to create a brand name instead was in case I never wanted to be online again and be so public… I wanted to keep my life private but I guess if you think about it just having an Instagram account or Facebook account does not make your whole life private! LOL😁
And the only way to be really private is to just not have any social media accounts.

Both have their advantages and disadvantages. People can relate better with a personal brand and if you are selling a service like consulting, personal branding is crucial. If however, you are selling products (or even services like logo design) then business brand is fine. Another thing with business brand, you can scale it.

There are definitely pros and cons to both. It is a personal (or team) decision on what's best given your unique situation.
I agree some companies don't want you to have a business (or life) outside of work, but others want people who can build their personal brand because it can help them attract clients for their day job or just realize that people have multifaceted lives. If employers try to restrict people too much they won't be happy at work and eventually leave. We encourage everyone on our team to grow their personal brand. It might mean they eventually become famous and decide to do their own thing, but it's a risk we are willing to take.
It's tough to manage multiple accounts on the same platform if it's just you doing everything so I'm not sure if I'd have 2 instagram accounts.
For Facebook through, you might want to create a Facebook page with your name. There are quite a few differences between a personal Facebook account and a business/personal brand page. Anyone can like/follow the page and view your content and you don't need to accept their friend request.
If you have any other questions, or if there are other videos you'd like to see on our channel, just let us know
      -Jeff

You can give your business a name of person or invent it, not necessarily with the thing you do “Yoga men…”, but you didn’t say that why? Are you trying to convince us that is the best choice and that your course is perfect to learn how to do it? I’m Italian maybe I didn’t understood well sorry if I say wrong.

personal brand is more flexible, you can talk about anything. "Yoga men" can only talk about yoga and related topics
