- Skyrim is a game filled with challenges and adventures, so why not take it on with a friend? The Elder Scrolls 5 offers an array of potential followers for the Dragonborn to choose from. In fact, Skyrim has so many companions, it’s easy to lose track of all your options. So today, we’ll be narrowing it down a bit and pointing out the best of the best as we look at five more special followers you shouldn’t ever let go in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.
The fact that everyone takes a break on this game, and then always comes back proves it’s a masterpiece.

It isn't. It's massive, but without uop mod it's bugged piece of crap.
One thing you missed about the Rieklings: You don't have to chose one as a companion. If you run the quest to become their Chief, then just leave without taking one along, a whole group of them will randomly show up when you are in a big fight, and join in on your side. I've had them show up during a fight with a dragon, and inside a dungeon in a boss fight. It's pretty funny when they are all hooting at me and each other.
Athena Wilson I remember that. They came to my aid in a cave kicking ass and in Skyrim I was fighting a dragon they came to my aid.

I honestly find J'Zargo's cocky attitude to be hilarious, especially when you tell him not everything is a game. "That's because you are losing do badly you cannot see it."
I thought I helped the Nords, but somehow, I ended up with Stinky as a follower. We had many adventures together, but he disappeared when I went back to the mainland and eventually I forgot about him. Several trips back and forth to Solstheim later, I was out in the wilderness when a strange Reikling ran up to me. I pulled my weapon, but he didn't attack. Imagine my surprise to realize, after all those years, it was my very own little friend, Stinky!

It was probably less that she killed and more that he was one of them
Raven Animations
She killed an apprentice of the Companions during a sparring match that was not supposed to be to the death. It’s like a contestant on The Ultimate Fighter killing his opponent. It demonstrated her lack of discipline and self-control. The Companions only recruit the best and she did not make the cut.

Kharjo has been my best friend who has been with me since 11-11-2011. If you wait at the camp outside of Dawnstar he will show up.

He also shows up fairly regularly at Riften.

@@jimcalhoun361 I have good luck finding him when I hire a carriage to Dawnstar from Whiterun. It’s like the first thing I do when starting a new game, that and picking up Bunny aka Dovahbit. Dovahbit is a reference to the Rabbit of Caerbannog in the Monty Python movie The Holy Grail. He is from a mod and you can find him at Dragonsreach up in the cloud district. Not like you look the type who makes up there a lot, hahaha

Kharjo was always my go to follower, however in my latest play through I’ve been doing a quick save only run, and made a mistake and quick saved after a big fight. I realized that he wasn’t by my side and searched around. It turned out he had died during the fight. So naturally, I picked up his armor, and took it home. I placed it on a mannequin, and placed the gold I inherited from him, along with the letter, in the chest just underneath. It never felt right to have another follower beside me so now I’m a lone wolf.
Sad and yet, heartwarming.

The Rieklings also randomly assist you in the world in fairly decent numbers, as well as being particularly strong with their melee.

Yea I noticed that they do this pretty frequently. They have helped me establish dominance over the Riekling tribes.
Amd they're considered pets so you can have a Riekling and an actual person

Bethesda should have Nate voice a Daedric Prince in Elder Scrolls 6. Perhaps Hermaeus Mora? I'll be pissed if they dont include an Easter egg where some character says the line "murdered to death".

I think Peryite would be a better choice.
Peryite is the taskmaster for all lesser daedras so something along the lines of a scamp running around and getting threatened to be murdered to death actually could be done without it being too obvious.

My favorite part about choosing the Rieklings is that if you get into a fight after you become their chief, there is a chance that a war party of Rieklings will run in and back you up (even if you aren’t on Solsthiem)

I'm glad you brought that to my attention, as in all these years I have never once paid a mercenary to join me, assuming they were just generic NPC's for people who can't be bothered to get the free quest-related followers. He's been sitting in my version of The Bee and Barb for over seven years now...
Jenessa is also an excellent mercenary in Whiterun. Unique dialogue and even a nickname for the player

Marcurio is such a staple in my play through, as it’s either he or Rayya I end up marrying. He’s one of my favorite gaming characters all time!

Also, by giving a Reikling a single arrow, they will begin throwing that type of arrow as a spear.. equipping them with a single Daedric arrow makes them immensely valuable in combat.

I wish you could take Uthgerd for a while, as a member of the Companions and then when you’re done, recommend they give her a spot, and vouch for her skill as an adventurer. That would be a nice closing to your time together.
I used the reiklings to level up the ebony blade. Quick and easy way to get a lot of loyal “friends” to sacrifice.
Do they not run out? As in just respawn?
Remus the ones in the hall stay dead, but the ones that are summoned to aid you do not run out.

For extra missed secrets in skyrim do about Astrids riddle, 'one person has a death penalty on their head' if u kill her she says 'well done' indicating she was in fact the one with a death penalty

@@Tempus_Sicarius I tend to believe that she *did* mean that. Obviously, there is one out of the three who *appears* to be a prime candidate for execution. It's never that simple, is it? Not in the Elder Scrolls. They love to offer you difficult choices. As soon as I saw there was an *obvious* choice, I figured there was another solution.

Ah Marcurio. My first companion in my second playthrough and one of my favorites actually. I had him come with me for a long time, made him a blade, and then my House arm in windstad

Finally some Marcurio love. He's been my favorite (non-mod) follower since my first playthrough. I still have him with me in this modded playthrough, but we have Inigo with us as well. He's hilarious, and as you mentioned in the video, his AI seems better than most followers. Also, he's a candidate for marriage, or you can make him a steward at one of your properties.

Goblins can speak common though, not just Goblin, but I'm assuming you mean that they'd just speak Goblin the entire time to annoy the group if they don't speak Goblin

Honestly, every time the topic of followers comes up, I have to talk about my first time climbing the 7k steps with Lydia. She just about became the gods damned protagonist when she was downed by the troll, I was about to be killed and she stood back up just in time to kill it as it was swinging the killing blow at me. Needless to say, she was the first character I married in the game too.
It’s her relentless snark that gets to me. She’s pretty funny too because sometimes when we were fighting a dragon she would yell at the top of her lungs “KILL! KILL THE VAMPIRE!!!” ….um, ok. Lydia has a lot of bug-I mean features about her.
my favorite thing about rieklings is the fact that they can use staffs, and more specifically, summoning staffs. give your follower a summoning staff too and when combat breaks out you have an instant army.

Your Skyrim vids are such a relaxing comfort. It's wild that I'm still obsessed with this game like 8 years later, but I'm happy you're still making content for it!
Faendal has always been my go to if I want to gain Levels fast. The fact that he is a companion and someone who can teach the Dragonborn in the ways of Archery up to lvl 50 means that you can pay him, and ask your money back, which often leads to the archery skill having icreased by 25 points or more just by doing the Golden Claw quest

Kharjo is a personal favorite of mine. In addition to being a fantastic melee fighter, he's a passable archer and an absolute menace if you give him a staff. Plus, he's got a high sneak skill that won't give you away on stealth missions/builds.
Once i get the dawnguard encounter there's basically only one follower I'll ever get along with

Personal favourite follower is Belrand(winking skeaver in solitude). He was my main follower on my first ever non DB play-through. Together we joined the Stormcloaks and fought in the civil war. During the attack on Whiterun he was killed. I was fighting and just as i beat my opponent I turned around to see Belrand get decapitated... still to this day best part of 9 years later I remember it... I always pay him a visit when I am in solitude now lmao

You can give your Reikling companion Daedric arrows which he will throw instead of spears
You forgot to mention Marcurio is technically a merchant and if you marry him you can periodically get money from him, and if he can't carry anything else, you can sell to him b/c he sells out of his inventory (he can basically carry infinitely)

@@blinky3552 shes an 80 something year old grandma who has an entire playthrough of her playing skyrim. Its still ongoing. You shluld look her up. She was worried she wouldnt be around to play TES6 so they scanned her and have her information saved so she will be an npc in the game

You forgot to mention that rieklings will equip armor that you give them. It doesnt show up on their model, but they get the armor points. Mine has a full set of enchanted dragon scale armor ^^

@@McPlaySpot Also depending on the rickling you can equip them with good weapons. The ones at the mead hall are all range attackers so you can give them the bows (they will hold it with one hand while throwing the arrows with the other hand but will do the damage of the bow xD) If you want a close combat rickling you have to walk around on solstheim untill they randomly appear (they have feathers on their helmets) Those can take two handed swords and poke people with them for massive damage depending on the weapon (give them mastercraft dragonborn twohanders ^^)

Different game but I prefer Willow in New Vegas as the best modded companion, from her huge amount of comments, quest, items, player home, etc. And even as a cat person, I have to say she's a bit cuter than Inigo. Or Sofia for that matter (who I frankly found kind of annoying after a while).
Lucien was pretty good when I used him, but I got annoyed by him saying his dialogue (half the reason you'd use him in the first place) in the middle of a forced cutscene so you can barely hear it for most of the story-related stuff, or far away from you because he has fallen behind and can't auto catch up like AFT-compatible followers can, or just as you are hitting a load door so it gets cut off.
I used him and Rosa Round bottom 😂😂😂 bad ass team bth.
Aranea is my favorite follower so far! I first recruited her because she sounded so devastated that Azura wouldn't give her any more visions, not knowing what a powerful mage she was. at first I love her.
Marcurio is unbelievably strong. He summons familiars. He raises thralls. He uses destruction. He can take down dragons by himself. I’m surprised he hasn’t been nerfed years ago. He’s that strong.

Well, technically...I think Rieklings do eat humans albeit more out of necessity. They seem to eat anything they can get their tiny grubby hands on to.
I just stumbled upon maybe my new favorite early-game follower: Rayya, the Housescarl of Falkreath. First she's wearing a Alik'r Hood as long as you don't give her headgear, looking incredibly cool; and (as long as you don't give her a shield) she's dual-wielding scimitars and becomes quite powerful with her attacks. She allegedly goes down in boss fights earlier than Lydia because she isn't blocking, but I really haven't felt any of that - and she makes just so much more damage.
I was searching for a Dwemer ruin during the "Lost to the Ages" quest, got attacked by a dragon and some DB Cultists at the same time, fought them off, then went searching for her and discovered that the fight had awaken Krosis and while I was busy fighting the Cultists she just took care of Krosis by herself
When marcurio died whilst I was fighting a dragon...my heart broke

@TheEpicNate315 Something funny I have experienced with Kharjo that I didn't see mentioned: Whenever I have Kharjo with me and drops to 25--30 percent health. He will put away whatever weapon he is using and outright bail, running until the fight is over, at which point he will walk back. Seeing this makes it especially funny when he declares to dead enemies "What a coward, didn't even put up a proper fight"

I almost always use Kharjo as a follower. I love him so much. It's just sad you can't marry him in the vanilla game. Him, Jzargo and Serana are my go to followers.
Kharjo is also very special in that he can... TRAVEL IN TIME
During the flashback in which the dovahkiin learns the shout dragonrend, there’s a possibility that Kharjo travels with in the flashback too 😂
I don’t know if it’s only Kharjo that can do that or if any follower has a chance to time travel but it was the only time I ever saw it and it was epicc

I'm so glad Nate listed Kharjo. He's been one of my favorate followers since I started playing Skyrim as a kid. It's funny now, but then it was very comforting to have a fluffy cat kicking butt by my side.
Vigilance is my favorite companion. I always get a bit sad when I accidentally fireball-murder him to death trying to kill a drauger.
You would think they would learn their lesson after the first few fireballs to the back of the head but they still run right in front of you

I started fallout 4 last summer because I ended up watching one of your videos in a loop one night so I watched a video on skyrim and had to play that too so that's two of my favorite games I've ever played I played because of this channel you're videos have been super insightful too thank you
Once you become chief, you can get randomly helped by rieklings on Solsteim. If you recruit a warrior from them instead of the meadhall, they'll use two handed swords instead of bows, making them much better in melee. They also can equip light armor, so with enough skill in smithing and enchanting you can make them as tough as any human follower. I found two meatsheilds to be handy for my squishy mage character, right up until someone hit someone else and we had our own civil war. Never did forgive Lydia for murdering our little buddy...

You can have freakin goblin/riekling as folower??? Im going to download goblin race mod and unlimited folowers mod and lets storm Skyrim with my GOBLIN ARMY!!!!!!

If you want to know the difference between Rieklings and Goblins, just look at the Goblins in Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and you try telling me that looks like a Riekling

Marcurio is far and away my favorite follower. He's hilarious and he's fucking kick ass. I don't think he's over confident, just very self-assured.
One amazing thing about Reiklings is that when you get into combat, at least in Solstheim I haven’t tried in Skyrim, they can summon one or two allied Reiklings to join in the fight spawning in from basically no where, so you get 3 followers for the price of one! Although the others that spawn can’t carry things and won’t continue to follow you.
