Dude, this guy mostly plays games in this genre, it's what the entire channel is about. Should probably look at his other videos before you shoot your mouth off.
It is on my shopping list already. Loved the 1st (albeit the repetitive nature) but I'm a huge Asterix fan so it is hard not to want such a gorge (😅) love letter to my childhood
lol!!! Some say my English is part of my charm! I don't know who says it, but someone surely does!🤣 But as I said in the review, if you are a fan of the duo, there's a lot for you! But for beat 'em up fans, it is a hard sell!
In the first one, swinging a guy other Asterix's head quickly decreased your special meter. This is no longer the case?!!! Who thought this would be a good idea?
I will confess that I didn't play much of the first one. I guess I got extremely bored around the 5th or 6th level. This one I finished, deleted, and I intend never download it again.
There is so much content and beautiful art & animations, they should have definitely mixed up the gameplay, perhaps some adventure style puzzles & exploring, RPG-like quests, some platforming, some rail-shooting and mini-games; that way it would have gone way further, especially if that would break up linear design, because there's an overload of potential and already available graphical resources in the game.
I'm starting to think that anything published by Microids is just rushed trash. They just get the rights to a popular license and then just churn out shovelware to try and make a quick buck. It's a shame as this game clearly has talented artists on the team whose efforts are being wasted.
I already passed the first one, because of the really bad reviews. But, like you, I had high hopes for the second one thinking that the devs have learned from their mistakes. Sad to see that this is not the case.
such a shame.. the animation is TOP NOTCH. I so wish they improved the combat this time around. Such beautiful animations and drawings. What a missed opportunity. I was so excited for this because I thought the developers would make the necessary improvements from this first one.
Yeah, I was hoping this one was at least be better than the first one but on the first fight I knew what I was going for. Well, let's hope for a Slaps Them All 3?? I have time to work on one more game, Mr. Nutz Studio, in case you need!😂😂

This title it is good nonetheless, so I am expecting the devs to make further improvements eventually!🤙🏻Mastercrafted review my brazialian bro!👏🏻 Now, on to The Last Faith next, don't let me down with it my man.😎
There are a lot of things to improve in this game, aside of what you mention. The combat is still tedious, the enemies are very same-y, and the bosses are easy to defeat once you get the gist of it. The only challenge you will face are the knife-throwers that plague some of the levels! I am glad you enjoy the game, but for the price, I can't recommend it to my viewers!!👊
@@beatemup Indeed my brother, but I did not buy it just yet, I am simply sharing my impressions on this title to the devs that's it. @@beatemup i was thinking about getting this i had slap them all but it got very repetitive was hoping the second one would of been better but sounds like its just the same thanks for the review
I liked the first one. To me the main issue was extending it for hours.....same levels with different colours and of course....no beat em up can last hours and hours because it´s just to repetitive. I was excited for this sequel but it seems to be the same game with different levels. The characters look the same and most of the enemies I´ve seen are also the same, looks like a DLC. I am not a fan of games that do that, besides fighting games. Good review, this is a pass and instead will be looking forward to Toxic Crusaders and also interested in the Phantom game but I need to see it in action.
Toxic Crusaders is an odd case, I hope the extra time they're giving it in the oven fixes the problems I had, but it just feels *wrong* and I'm not sure how to explain it. Like nobody but Yvonne in the demo felt like they played how I'd expect a character in a game such as that to play (conversely she also had the only voice actor that actually sounded like they knew what they were doing, too) Also all of the enemies were such damage sponges, even standard zako took 2-3 full combos to beat.
Asterix & Obelix XXL (part of a trilogy, but 1st one is the most known), its been remastered recently and I think its on the PS store, but there is also a physical release.
You mention no drop-in coop as a downside. I personally thought that feature was useless and just an unnecessary relic of the arcade days, but maybe that feature is appealing to some. Maybe I'm just a boring guy who plans ahead whether he'll play alone or with someone. I'm curious why this feature is desirable to you. When your kid unexpectedly shows up, maybe? I'm asking because that feature was present in the old Zabu, but we did not plan to readd it to the new one, as it brings a lot of complexity (being able to select your character during gameplay, readjusting the difficulty for an extra player, avoiding loopholes...).
You were right on the money. More than often, when I am playing, one of my kids asks to play with me. Yes, sometimes I restart the level so we can start from the beginning, but sometimes, mostly when they already know the game, a drop-in feature is always welcome. More than once I was on my couch playing and one of my kids just beside me watching and then, out of the blue, they grab a controller and start to play with me. So, not having this option for me makes a huge difference.
I had never actually heard form a developer why drop-in co-op would be something they'd not be interested in adding, but this put it into a whole new context- that readjusting the balance would be a complex procedure didn't even occur to me until now, I just thought people left it at the original difficulty...
Hey Reverend! There's the Konami's arcade game, which is pretty good, but you know, 90s style. Other than that there's those 3D ones that never interested me, to be honest. It is a shame, because it is a great franchise that deserves a good beat 'em up.
@@reverendmary7237 Hey Reverend, if you truly loved the books, I'd say that you can still give a try to the first Asterix&Obelix Slap them all, I am confident that you may like it imho. As a matter of fact there are all the iconics charas and the moves are cool, but the variety of the enemies is a bit under tune instead!🤙🏻 P.S. also no online multiplayer on both chapters. P.P.S. alternatively, I recommend the celts hystoric based one Wulverblade if you did not play it just yet. I hope it helps
Man, that is sad. As a European and Asterix-fan it's harsh to see a game look SO good, but then hear it seems to play worse and be much duller than even the old Asterix side-scrolling platform games for the SNES / Mega Drive. But a game where I just reuse one move over and over and over again is one I can easily pass up in favor of some more Double Dragon.

Sure music is just okay but dont forget that the Switch cant handle these beautiful graphix so Steam, xbx or playstation versions is going to run way smoother😊 so far what I can see they overuse characters in the backgrounds in some stages wich doesnt look Great but im still exited.
Well, I mentioned in my review what my problems were. The boring combat, the lack of depth, the weak challenge. I am glad you enjoyed the game, but personally, I wouldn't recommend it to fans of the genre.
Wrong! Nintendo switch can definitely handle an hand drawn graphics title at all, since games like the Witcher III and Hogwarts Legacy run on it though.👀
This game is very disappointing ! The first game was much better gameplay wise. They took away the power punch combos. They have decreased the hitbox, you keep missing enemies, keep not grabbing that barrel and you get stunned all the time by that sword jumping enemy. It's just super annoying and disappointing !
