Which was funnily enough almost identical from their previous game, Pandora. Why change a winning concept and all that.
Because people get bored playing (and paying for) the same game over and over?
I am willing to givebit a go, IF they add something different to the story and game mechanics, but so far, it just looks like a re-skin, not an advancement or different enough experience.

This is one of those videos where the time flies by and it ends too soon, I could watch you play this for hours! I love the art style, and the world building they've done here is excellent.

he was doing lotsa 40-50 minute videos, now he's done with almost every one by 28 minutes.
@@vforwombat9915 He did comment at one point that The Algorithm was hammering him for too many longer videos, and that he'd have to make sure he was shorter from now on. I don't recall if it was in a video or the Discord, but it was about the time that he stopped with the longer videos.
Just another example of the c-suite fools obsessing over copying whatever is the latest 'hot new thing' rather than actually understanding their own niche and focusing on doing that right/pleasing the customers they already have.

And ima huge fan of post-apocalyptic games so this is definitely going to my wishlist
The only thing I can say is that I would love to see more units and unit upgrades/customization.
Always a good sign when you see something so well together it could be a complete... Just to see it's the demo

That tech tree is very Endless Legend, and there's some of that flavor in the resources as well; Thematically doesn't seem to have wandered too far from the grimdark future of only war.
I loved Gladius, and it looks like I'm gonna love this game when it comes out.
That really cool video and world building cutting to a re-skinned Gladius with a super rudimentary GUI was stark.

It's hilarious to see Splat and Aavak build each other up like gas and fire. To think of the physical embodiment of the word "dapper" leads to the Heresy Bros.
That intro cinematic certainly hooked me.
That intro is just 👌👌👌At 2:00 I was like, let me at it, I don't even care what kind of game it is, that's some awesome backstory/setup and art.
Just found it and gave it a go. It's a little bit Terminator, a little bit Independence Day and a good helping of H.P. Lovecraft to tie it all together! Very interesting and weird.
Okay, purely for the idea of "So eldritch horrors showed up, wiped out basically all of humanity... and it turned out AI's reaction to eldritch horrors is to kill it dead instead of us. Turns out manmade powers beyond our comprehension are pretty well matched to eldritch powers beyond our comprehension." I am interested in this.

the initial look is just gladius with another skin and different lore. I hope the lean into the story and actually make a story mode that would make it worth playing otherwise I'd just play more gladius.

This is one of my most anticipated games, Gladius is the GOAT. Though I feel like eventually at the mid-game it starts to get kind of boring because of the lack of options to interact with other factions and the map that's not, "shoot it to death then shoot it again". If there' some variety to the gameplay in Zephon, I'll be all over it.

I see great potential in this game.
It's not just from the developers of Gladius: It's basically just a reskin of the game. I came back to this video specifically because I wasn't sure who had made the game, but I knew if it WASN'T the same guys then the devs from Gladius would definitely have a copyright claim lawsuit on their hands.
Also, there is now a demo for the game as part of the NextFest, but only until June 17th, 2024.

Keep an eye on this Twitch channel then, there could well be a stream of it in the not too distant future. Or they might not, the only one that knows what he's likely to stream and when is Splat, unless he states on a video that he's likely to do so.

You could probably pick up Gladius on the cheap. This game looks so similar to the older title I suspect it may just be a reskin with newer graphics and slightly altered mechanics.
@@lucasriley874 yeah, I have Gladius. I'm aware they will probably similar, but I expect new mechanics abd upgraded systems. Kinda like civ 6 isn't civ 5, etc.

This looks like the game I wanted Civ Beyond Earth to be.
Oof. The changes from Gladius seem very, very iterative, to the point I'm tempted to call it a reskin. I'll need to see more to decide if it's worth it. At the very least, I hope that map gen in multiplayer is improved so people don't get stuck on long peninsulas away from all the action, and that eliminating a faction is more satisfying than them just popping out of existence... I'm sorry, but at least in Civ, capturing an enemy capital city packed with Wonders feel glorious.
Did you have a cliff next to your city BTW? There's a height difference but it's barely visible when zoomed-out. Looks like they're still having the problems with map readability too. Hopefully barely-visible wire weed isn't making a return.

Woo the demo is public for a week now!
Just so you guys know, you can only move once in this game. Unlike in something like "Warlock 2: The Exiled" or Civilization, where you can move as many times as you still have movement points, even if you only move one tile when you could move 3 it'll still take all of your movement points to do so.
Also, the tech tree is exactly the same for every faction. So, if you'd want to focus solely on stuff for your own faction, you have to hunt-&-peck the sh1t.
This looks awesome! Is their any background lore behind it or is it a totally new set up?

Seems like it's basically Gladius with the trademarks filed off. Gladius was an okay game, but I can't say I'm all that eager for another one.

why yes youtube this is civ: beyond earth (tbh the fact youtube auto feels that means its gonna be simulare in a few ways) by just the inate gameplay i know im gonna be at home here with this game with a mechine faction or other odd ends, for i can feel every ince of the game that was just logic wise ported from gladius (and this is not a bad thing in fact it did i feel a lot right) so they now on their own have room to develop things and make what they want. im happy to see a lot of fimilure content here and will wait to see what odds they make.

Hate reading all these comments calling this a Gladius mod. Yes it's obviously based on Gladius, but it looks like there's enough new stuff peeking around the edges to make this a full Gladius 2.0. Also three years sounds perfectly reasonable for creating and balancing the factions in their new IP.

So how's the unit confirmation sounds? I liked the warlike tactics in Gladius, but that game's sound design and UI was extremely barebones. EDIT: demo on Steam available from 3 - 10 august. Will certainly try this one out to convince myself.

I enjoyed Gladius, but it was lacking something. It became to samey I suppose? I wonder how they'd be with some kind of narrative campaign with cinematics and what not. Cause the art work in this one is really good they clearly have a theme. I'll be excited to try this for a bit though.

Looks like Gladius, plays like Gladius, is basically Gladius, just less cool, because WH40k can't be topped ;)
Still, gonna check it out eventually when. More combat 4x is always welcome. I just hope they have lots of interesting, different factions in it, otherwise it's probably DOA.
The game's opening was awesome. The artwork and writing are very cool. Not my kind of game, though.
