Red Alert 2 is my favorite RTS game ever. Nothing else even comes close except for other Red Alert games.
This looks feels and sounds like classic C&C and I for one welcome our new RTS overlords
If it doesn't smooth out the accessibility curve, it won't and Starcraft will still reign supreme.
@@TheTrueAdept Fair, I did play through that first mission and i enjoyed it all the same. I’m sure with the play testing they’ll make changes before a full release (or early release)

@@TheTrueAdeptis this intended as a competitor for StarCraft? I assumed it was an attempt at a command and conquer-like game which was around before the likes of StarCraft. Depends I guess if the multiplayer maps are symmetrical with obvious patches for base expansion needed for competitive, or if they’re similar to the older rough-around-the-edges maps which didn’t rely on total symmetry.

I still play some Command & Conquer. I played that so much when I was younger. This game will go directly on the wishlist. And most likely directly in my library haha.
Favourite quotes I still think of today from the old games, "Been here with the gear" from C&C and COH 2 "Volksgrenadier on the line"

Signed up for the demo & played it the other day, one small base building mission but oh man does it feel like old skool C&C! Will be looking forward to its release!
scientists were so busy trying to make kimchee-plants that they didn't stop to think if they should.
Game overall looks pretty decent, each barracks is individually managed for troop-outputs, the movement and target acquisition looked smooth and the hitpoints seemed high-enough without being a slog to take down or impossible to preserve.

As someone who played the original Dune 2, Warcraft 1, etc etc etc C&C's red alerts, this looks good will def be trying this one out.
Not sure if you noticed but it looked like the second barracks unlocked a second, separate infantry build queue via the number 2 button just below the Buildings/Defenses/Infantry buttons.

I know it's an early build but I hope they make the construction drone leave the constructions yard earlier in the construction process and show the unpacking of the crate into the building.

What I love about the classic C&C games and their recent remakes, is that they run on potato pc's and laptops. I hope this will run on my potatoes too.

@@therealmcgoy4968 ACTUALLY.... C&C Remastered Collection is 24GB and runs perfectly fine on my potatoes.
CS:GO is 30GB, also runs on potatoes.
Size of the game (mostly filled up by assets) does not indicate hardware requirements for the game.
Looking at what game engine, and which version of it, the game utilizes is more indicative for system requirements.
Even the music reminds me of red alert haha

Raptor, I feel you really need to play through Act of War and Act of War: High Treason. This shows what can be done when the game is based in a really when written world. You’ll be doing yourself a massive favour and many of the units are like some of the Act of War units.
Hell yeah I can't wait for this game. Been waiting for a new RTS after I've beaten Age of Empire 4. Strategy games is my favorite genre.

Not sure if it's your jam, but as you mentioned C&C Generals quite a bit, I recommend trying the Rise of the Reds mod for it, so good and keeps the vibe.

generals zero hour was the one I played when I was in school, one of the best ones

I guess one of the most iconic quotes was the Starcraft's Archon: "Power overwhelming" phrase, among the few which was carried over to the second game and made it to be a cheat code for god-mode.
And this game looks muuuch better than the starcraft wannabies like stormgate and I forgot the other game.

its cheaper to do CGI than pay actual actors. Plus you do not have to hassle with pay, writers guild etc. Especially now that they are on strike so yeh, CGI was the better choice. And this game has so much potential. Have missed C $ C quite some time. Can't wait for full release!!!!!

I get that, though they could've followed the same principle that they did with the old 1990's Red Alert and Dawn titles where a chunk of the Dev team were part of the VFX. Frank for example (Awesome Musician) was in a few of those shorts, acting either as the Russian Guard, a Spy, or what have you. While some of the other Devs were playing minor roles that spoke very little, though you would then need to hire two main characters for lengthy mission briefings.
But on another point. Technically, they did pay actual actors, or well, VA's to voice the characters, payment wise would very little difference if it was visual or not.

I remember playing this demo. It's definitely a love letter to C&C, but is missing the quality of life improvements ala Starcraft.
I encountered a bug where the drones would get stuck over impassable terrain and then I couldn't move the drone controller. I'm sure this will be fixed by release.
Hope the game controls become less clunky.
In original CoH, when asked to attack a tank, the US riflemen will ask "Sir, with all due respect...are you high?"
I am seeing a good bland of CnC, with the core inspiration, A raspy higher-up saying "Commander" and a mission briefing worthy of Ace combat joint assault.
It's been years since I played a RTS game, C&C4 was a disappointment. They made it more like a DOTA game then an RTS. This game looks great and brings me back to the old C&C games, Red Alert and Generals. I hope thye put in the ability to garrison buildings. That was a cool feature from later Red Alert and Generals. I also hope they would put it weapon and equipment upgrades so foot soldiers can get stronger. But yeah I also wish they did live action cut scenes but I guess they don't have the budget to hire actors or even rent a studio to build a set and shoot the cut scenes in.

I grew up on Warcraft (floppy discs) red alert and eventually stronghold.
Red alert 2 was one of the greatest games of all time.
This game gives me the same feeling when i watched the russian tank roll over the texas sign, and paratroopers airdropping from the sky. The heavy 90's metal music in the background.
I love the lower graphic- slightly isometric view.
Splashy 3d graphics are distracting. The entire game slows down.
I do miss the live action videos.
