I just found your channel. Finally there is a channel where a professional is speaking. I would like to add that if you use Windows, multiplay is a good program if you need a Qlab-style program.
I literally use all of these and can’t imagine my sound life without them. I greatly appreciate how in depth you go with your material. I can tell you are a detailed, efficient, and seasoned pro, and would definitely want to be on your crew 💪
I don't know how you can get through a show without mixing station, an app for android or iOS, to control the sound desk, often better than the official app, but always the same easy to use UI no matter the console. It's great for making tweaks when you aren't at the console
Just have to sit down and write some appreciation of your uploads :) not just this one but in general ! really like your approach and attitude towards sounds and how to make an effective workflow :) Been looking for a tool like SoundSource for soooo long. Thanks alot and keep it going ! :)
Great collection of software! Definitely saving this one. One I could add is REW or any other software that can calculate room modes. It's useful to know beforehand, which specific low frequency bands could be a problem during the gig.
Been really enjoying your channel. I'd like to see a video on some of the reference tracks you use (partially shown in your Spotify list in this video), and in what cases you'd pick certain songs over others based on the room type, etc...
Yes, if you're able to sync them in the time domain much of the comb filtering will be removed. You still have to find the right place in your audience to sync them, though : )
Wifi Analyzer and Network Manager phone (android) apps. Good to know what channels the house/venue wifi is on so I know if my FOH wifi needs to be switched to a different channel.
I've been using LiveProfessor through dante. It's inexpensive and you aren't limited to only waves plugins. Not quite as reliable or user friendly as soundgrid though.
REW is fantastic tool for offline measurements and data analysis in studio environments, but Open Sound Meter wins in the online measurements which are necessary for live sound. You COULD use REW in a live environment and do sine sweeps, but using a dual channel FFT that can show you a live IR, phase, and magnitude graph works better for a tuning setup. And is faster overall.
Hi Michael, thanks for your video it's very helpful me. Can I ask what is the recommended audio interface that you use for open sound meter running from ipad? Thanks
Hey, Phu. I honestly haven't used the iPad version of OSM, just the desktop. But Pavel (the developer) says that any interface "should" work as long as it has the appropriate number of IO to pull the number of mics you want off.

Thank you for the kind words! I'll have to check multiplay out.

It absolutely is! As far as outside band shows go I've probably had more flight time mixing on an iPad than a console!
Found this channel last week, and I love it! So much useful information. Works through all the videos :D
Thank you for the kind words! Is there a specific topic within live audio that you'd like me to cover more in depth that I haven't already?
Show power where can you get classes on that topic ?
@@MatthewMcclatchie123 Scott Adamson has a course on that at The Production Academy:

I appreciate the encouragement. Glad these videos have been helpful for you.
Thank you for sharing with us the software you use. I use GoButton by Figure53 for audio playback from my iPad for live audio playback or sound board.

Yes, REW is a great addition.
I would add Pro Presenter? It’s specific to House of Worship perhaps, but a good app to be familiar with.
Yes, Pro Presenter is awesome!

Thanks a ton, Nick! I've got a video on three reference tracks I use - ua-cam.com/video/_-0u61tMVn0/v-deo.html
I wish I had the equipments, such as digital console. Still running analog mixer. A good challenge.
Do most of comb filtering can be removed by delay settings .when sound of two or more speakers interfere

@@MichaelCurtisAudio thanks
So useful thanks
You're very welcome!
I use soundplant to hit the cues.
Wifi Analyzer and Network Manager phone (android) apps. Good to know what channels the house/venue wifi is on so I know if my FOH wifi needs to be switched to a different channel.
That's a great callout!
I use sports sounds pro software
And virtual DJ pro
Nice bro
Thank you.
Worth mentioning Waves SoundGrid and SuperRack for running off-board DSP. And SoundGym for ear training.
Yup, great tools!

Genuinely courious , did you say that you use Spotify as reference audio ?
If I'm just needing to A/B the tonality of a system with different tracks in a live setting, then Spotify works just fine.
What's the Reaper theme you're using there? Looks tidy!
It's just the default one in Reaper v6 : )
What about REW? Is Open Sound Meter better than REW?

Is there a place where I can find your reference Track list?

Hi, ease focus for Mac?
It's PC only, I run it on Parallels.
Are there links to all these? I would love some of these.
Just posted the links in the description!
