Gotta do Night Moves and Turn The Page, two of Seger's great classics.
And like a rock
Famous Final Scene is a must
Like A Rock.
Bob Seger is a pianist first and plays guitar as well. He's said in interviews that songs he composes on piano come out more as 'ballads' and his guitar-based songs are typically rockers.
Springsteen a media and critics darling. Never got the Springsteen thing but I can enjoy listening to Bob Seger always. Loads of great music!
He has the "correct politics"
@@joesmith3098 what are you talking about? They're both pretty similar on the political spectrum. And on the right side of history unlike the Trump boot lickers and other morons that want to take us back to the age of slavery.
@@wendylynn4318 that comment speaks for itself lol..thanks Don Lemon oops I mean Wendy!
@@wendylynn4318 What a stupid comment. Can we please leave politics and insults out of it and just enjoy the music?
@@johnfoster5295 Amen.
One of Americas greatest storytellers. "We've" got tonight " and from the "Live Bullet" album "Travelin Man / Beautiful Loser" you will enjoy and worth a listen !!
Travelin Man/Beautiful Loser is iconic! Wish more reactors would listen to it. It hasn't been a rock radio staple for 46 yrs by accident!
My favorite lyrics from any song from the 60s and 70s was …”I wish I didn’t know now what I didn’t know then” think about it!
Agree, it's brilliant!
I just commented the same thing!
I use that line all the time.
Damn right brother👍
Yes
"Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then" one of my all time favorite lines from a song.
Harri you will absolutely LOVE Bob's music. You will NOT find a bad song in his catalog. Thanks for checking this Legend out. Thanks Dave.
Uncle Bob helped raise a generation.
“Wish I didn’t know now what I didn’t know then”. Genius lyrics! I love Bob Seger. He’s amazing and I had the extreme pleasure of seeing him live back in the 80’s. His music is everywhere and you’ve probably heard at least one or two of his songs out in the atmosphere. He’s wonderful. He plays guitar and piano but I think somebody else played on this song. He writes 90% of his songs, both music and lyrics. Enjoy the journey. Thanks for getting to him ✌️
Toby Kieth wrote a great country song titled on this lyric.
Which Toby Keith song was it? I am familiar with a few of his songs (some are very amusing), but don’t recall anything like what you’re referring to. 🌺✌️
"Night Moves" is a beautiful Seger song about getting older; in "Katmandu", Seger rocks the back rows of the hall.
Bob was before Bruce, he plays the piano and guitar. I was about 6 years old when I heard my first song, 50 years later and Bob rules my playlist. I think a lot of his music is personal and he can relate to a lot of things in life. He is a Detroit Boy and he still lives in Michigan. Great voice and storytelling
Please listen to
Turn the Page
Night Moves
Somewhere Tonight
Main Street
We Got Tonight
Like a Rock
Old Time Rock and Roll
With Seger it's the story he tells. Always beautifully sung and performed, but the stories in his music are understandable and in this case, relatable. "Wish I didn't know now, what I didn't know then." Ignorance is bliss.
Seger is and always has been a blue collar guy. His rise in music was a several decade long road to the top
PIANO, GUITAR, PROLIFIC SONGWRITING AND STORYTELLING, AND OF COURSE MAIN VOCALS! :)
Many people have a song that they think tells the story of their life. This one is mine. I'm older now, but still runnin' against the wind.
Great reaction, Bob is from Detroit, Michigan and is both a great lyricist, musical composer par excellence and a fantastic sing! That was Bob on piano. So many other great songs to react to such as "We've Got Tonight", "Roll Me Away", "Turn the Page", "Still The Same" and "Like A Rock".
Actually Bob is from Ann Arbor
Ann arbor is correct.
He's from Commerce Twp. outside of Detroit. I know, I'm from here. My Aunt went to the store for groceries. She met Bob Seger, his wife and his beautiful daughter. His son wasn't there. She came home and told me about meeting Bob Seger! I had my 23 year old from the same hospital in Dearborn, MI as Bob Seger was born at. Yeah, that's wild....
Nearly every song Bob did is a masterpiece he's an American treasure
" Roll me Away" " Turn The Page " " Main Street " ✌️♥️
Roger that !
Don't forget "Still the Same".
America’s modern day Norman Rockwell of modern day American culture with music instead of a paintbrush. Bob truly captured an era of our cultural history
@@nachyomoney3598 My favorite!
I just love Bob Seger. Wipes the years away
Bob Seger is one of the all time greats. Thanks for this reaction. Please keep going with Seger (pronounced See-gur) it's a treasure trove of excellent music.
HOLLYWOOD NIGHTS
LIKE A ROCK
MAIN STREET
COME TO POPPA
You will probably recognize his "Old Time Rock and Roll".
Harri,
Seager is one of the great of rock, with many styles. To hear how one "intense" he can be-- (vocally & story lyrics)--listen to his song: "Hollywood Nights"& Old Time Rock and Roll." His catalog of top hits in his prime years is amazing. Night Moves, Like A Rock,. Main Street, Still The Same, and many more big hits in America over the years. So many of his songs used in movies, TV and advertising, too. A great poet and soulful singer.
Harri: I love your personal and respectful stye of Reactions to the great music that we all hold so dear. Thank you! --Terri
The lyrics.

Universally meaningful.
I adore Seger.
He did it all. Sang, wrote, played piano and guitar. One of my all time favorites.
The classic timeless story of once being a vibrant, young man in his prime, and then an aging wiser man, looking back on what he used to bein his youth. We all do it. Probably every man and woman as they get into their years, they reflect on who and what they were at an earlier time in their life. I can relate, as I'm just about to turn 65. A wonderful song.
God Bless
My mom loved the piano too. Before she died she absolutely loved Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band and listened all the time.
"Shame on the Moon" is another great ballad of his, one of my favorite songs!
"Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then". One of the simplest but most profound lyrics I have ever heard.
America’s modern day Norman Rockwell of modern day American culture with music instead of a paintbrush. Bob truly captured an era of our cultural history
This is a quote from Bob Seger about the song, talking to his Ex long time Girlfriend who is referenced in the song : Janey says to me all the time, 'You allow more people to walk on you than anybody I've ever known.' And I always say it's human nature that people are gonna love you sometimes and they're gonna use you sometimes. Knowing the difference between when people are using you and when people truly care about you, that's what "Against the Wind" is all about. The people in that song have weathered the storm, and it's made them much better that they've been able to do it and maintain whatever relationship. To get through is a real victory
What an AWESOME rabbit hole to go down! Saw him back in the 80s and still one of the best I`ve ever seen! Keep On Rockin`
SEGER! THE LIVING LEGEND!
Bob is a piano player as well as guitar.Fire Lake is one of my favs from him.Springfield is the next generationBob is still performing.Bob is 76 and Bruce is 71 years old.
Happy Birthday Bob May 8Th, your music was the soundtrack of my life
"Turn the Page" plus, too many fantastic songs by Seger. OMGosh!
Yes! Bob Seger!! Roll Me Away and Turn The Page, Hollywood Nights, Night Moves and more... 👍♥️
No the song isn’t autobiographical, it’s just that he’s such a great storyteller that he makes you feel that he’s lived every song he sings. It’s what great musicians do
Bob, another treasure trove to lost in. Night Moves & Hollywood Nights are both great.
I saw him in concert several times - always a rocking show.
Carry On!!
Yes Hollywood Nights.. don't listen to this while driving unless you want a speeding ticket haha
Another great song by Bob Seger I’d like to see you react to is “ Like a Rock” it has a great message about when your young compared to how is when you’re older.
Everytime I get in my old chevy truck I hear " like a rock" in my head.
Hollywood Nights and Roll Me Away
I'm a big fan of both Seger and Springsteen. I read an interview with Seger where he said he was about to retire from touring and writing but his friend, Bruce Springsteen, convinced him to keep going.
One of the best Artist in América for me i love it 😍 Jacques from France
You should watch Seger’s video of “Turn the Page@. The song is from 1972, but it didn’t catch on until 1976’s album “Live Bullet”. (That’s a much better version).
The music video is from 1995, but with flashbacks to a much younger Bob performing in the days when he was still riding around in a bus with the band, all over the States. The “walk into a restaurant” section is inspired by a real incident. And in the flashbacks you can see the hairstyle Bob sported in the early 70’s.
His most autobiographical song, from the well known ones is probably “Night Moves”. Seems like most songs start with some piece of real life, but get much more cinematic and interesting through the songwriting process. Some find his music whine-y. I find it wistful. He’s rightly in the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
There's nothing Whiney about BOB SEGERS voice or singing! He's got the most Versatile male Rock and Roll Voice along with other Gendres of MUSIC 🎶 ! .
One of the worlds best singer/sondwriter! With a career spanning six decades, Seger has sold more than 75 million records worldwide, making him one of the world's best-selling artists of all time. Seger was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2012. He was named Billboard's 2015 Legend of Live honoree at the 12th annual Billboard Touring Conference & Awards, held November 18-19 at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York.
One of my top favorite male artists .thx 4 sharing.
He battled throat cancer and beat it. Bob is a living legend .
IMHO, one of the best lyrical songs ever written combined with easy listening music combined with a legendary voice came together to create one of those special moments in time when absolutely everything comes together to create not just special, but legendary. One of the best if not the best singer songwriter songs of all time.
Bob had sold over 75 million records during his career. So,, yeah, he’s big.
I think you hit it correctly when talking about how Springsteen is more intense. It’s a background thing. Bob is clearly a Midwesterner (Detroit); Bruce a Jersey boy. That’s what gives Springsteen’s music greater urgency generally.
Seger’s music tends to come from more folksy, rural roots while Springsteen’s foundation is more urban, multicultural (doo-wop, R&B).
I realize this is a gross over-generalization but I think one can discern the differences. Either way, it’s all rock and I love what Seger has produced. Great voice, top rate musician, great song writer.
I think when they both explore the heart or heartland, segers aim is more true. hes like a rock johnny cash or hank williams sr.
@@kelvinkloud Agreed. Springsteen exploration seems less authentic especially when seen in the light of his early work.
SO SO MANY BIGGGGG HITS HARRI WITH THE BIGGEST BY FARRRRR BEING ( NIGHT MOVES ) :) BUT SOME OTHERS WOULD BE: TURN THE PAGE, HOLLYWOOD NIGHTS, OLD TIME ROCK AND ROLL, FIRE LAKE, SHAME ON THE MOON, ROLL ME AWAY , AND MORE! :) THERE'S SOME FOR STARTERS HARRI ENJOYYYYY THIS GUY
“I wish I didn’t know what I didn’t know then”. Holt smoke! A most righteous phrase.
You can't go wrong with any Seger song you pick. He's one of the greats.
*Harri* My personal *THANK YOU* for this sir.!!! You deserve some answers to the questions you posed, so here goes..... The song is a semi autobiographical of Bob's life, early girlfriend, being a runner in school *BUT* in the grand scheme of things it is about what we all face, dealing with what life throws at us, growing up and having different outlooks on things as one gets older.... Bob actually started before Bruce in the mid 60's but they were contemporaries in the 70's and he was gigantic at that time.! It's actually very cool you mentioned Bruce Springsteen as alot of critics had looked to 3 artists at the time as being { their words }, the new *Bob Dylan* one was Bruce, another Bob and the third was Jackson Browne...! Bruce has out sold Bob in total albums by about 3 to 1 but Bob has sold over 50,000,000 so you get the idea.! He came out of Detroit by the way......
*I REALLY THANK YOU FOR THIS HARRI* I will be here forever my friend.! Bob has so much more to show you, I would suggest *Turn the Page* next but you need rest bro, I didn't know you had that many requests, so I will go the Patreon way when I have one moving forward.! *Much Respect* David .....
Running against the wind wild and free
saw them in concert at a small venue in north carolina. absolutely hypnotized . bob plays every instrument
Turn the Page is one you really need to listen to. The opening note will really catch you unaware. It's one of those songs I can put on replay and just listen again and again.
one of the best musical storytellers of all time. Most of his songs are about his personal experiences. BOB SEGER and the Silver Bullet Band PLAYLSIT: "Night Moves" - "Hollywood Nights" - "Shame on the Moon" - "Fire Lake" - "Against the Wind" - "Turn the Page” - "We've Got tonight" - “Still the Same” - "You'll Accomp'ny Me" - “Come to Poppa" - Old Time Rock and Roll” - “Mainstreet” - “ The Fire Down Below”
I remember listening to this music in a bar drinking shots of tequila! Many moons ago ☮️🤘🏽♥️👵🏼
Almost all of Bob's songs are biographical, Night Moves, Main Street, We've got tonight, you name it. It's from his life.
I think for someone to make a masterpiece like this they must have experienced the things the story in the song tells. Like someone who has never had a broken heart trying to sing about a broken heart. Can't do it justice unless you've had that genuine pain
This is a great song. “Turn the page “ is a must ! Bob was playing piano.
Bob Seger is a Detroit native. His contemporary was another Detroit native named the late Glenn Frey. They lived in different parts of Detroit, not meeting each other until the 1970s.
Both of them play guitar 🎸, bass guitar 🎸 and piano 🎹
They, Jackson Browne, JD Souther and Don Henley wrote Heartache Tonight for The Eagles. Bob Seger sang this in the Kennedy Honors as a Tribute to The Eagles. 🦅
Bob Seger hits include Like a Rock, We Got Tonight, Hollywood Nights, Shame on the Moon 🌙 (late Glenn Frey was backing singer here).
He does play piano and was a distance runner when he was younger. He's an all around great guy.
You can't get any more classic than Bob Segar. Love this one (probably my second favorite of his), but my favorite of his is "NIght Moves" - so much soul, another story-telling one.
He grew up in Detroit. You have to be tough to survive there when he grew up. If it doesn't touch your heart, it will make you cry. This song mirrors my life so much, and at 74. Engineering school, 4 years in Navy including Vietnam, retired from AT&T, author of 10 books, painter, and now fighting a terrible disease, but I'm still running against the wind and liking it.
I.m 60 and it hits personal to alot of men cuz its our story
As good a singer and songwriter as you can find! Awesome
Many g ood memories.. thanks.
btw.. he plays a mean blues guitar
When I was a kid, he used to practice in my best friends basement in Ann Arbor Michigan, though it was before he was a star. I've ve always had an affinity for Bob's music. He was a big deal, and is on Wikipedia's list of best selling album sales of all time. I/2 the sales of Springsteen.
Such a beautiful bridge.
GOD, I can't listen to these songs without hearing my Husband! But, I'm addicted, just to hear him, in a way!
Yes he dose play the 🎹 an the 🎸he has been doing this since late 60s
See grrrr
Bob and Bruce are friends. They met in 1978 when Springsteen was in the Detroit area. He ended up at Seger’s concert at Pine Knob. (There are a couple great backstage pics if you Google) I think Seger went to Springsteen’s concert later that week in another Michigan venue. Over the years they have performed a song or two at each other’s concerts.
Bob has cited the song structure of Bruce’s “Jungleland” to helping with the construction of his song “Night Moves”.
There is even a story of them both being in LA to work on albums at the same time, and we’re staying at the same hotel. So they’d have dinner or hang in the bar and discuss the work of the day and encourage each other’s efforts.
Nice.
Nice reaction too.
Bob is definitely in my top 5 greatest singers of all times…”Night Moves” next please🖤
In his top 3 for sure….
Paul Harris played Piano on the Recording. Glen Frey is on Background Vocals and helped with Arrangements. This IS Biographical! 😊GREAT SONG!
Need to add You'll Accomp'ny Me to your list of Bob Seger reactions.
bruce S would be proud to be as big as BOB SEGER, to me no comparison, This is a one of kind Rabbit hole, totally Bob!! Legend!! Enjoy
Bob Seger never disappoints and this is my favorite Segar song and there are so many. Night Moves and Hollywood Nights are worth a listen. Keep up the good work in your diversity of music.
Bob Seger has been around a few years prior to Bruce Springsteen . From 2 + 2 to Night Moves this guy was the Detroit Boy that was always Running Against the Wind. Like a Rock he was Shamed by the Moon so Turn the page to find more hits. Just Roll With it and You'll Accomp'ny Me all the way down Main Street; some real Night Moves with Bob.
Life is set against us when we are born, it's like swimming against the current
This is southern California style 80s attitude !
He pronounces his last name See-ger, not complaining, just informing LOL So many have mispronounced it.
The day we stop running against the wind is the day we die.
"The Fire Inside" is one of my faves- so much truth in one song. Ramblin' Gamblin' Man is another great one- just try to sit still during that!
"Like a rock" is another one like this, written from the perspective of an older guy looking back. Also contains 2 smoking hot slide guitar solos! I agree with all the other poster's recommendations, too.
I have all of Bob Segers albums and I have one of Bruce Springstein's . I hope this helps you Harri! Great reaction!
Roll Me Away, Rock n Roll Never Forgets, Hollywood Nights, Horizontal Bop, Betty Lou, Katmandu….and about 100 or so more….
I never thought I’d f Bruce and bob as similar. Both are amazing. I kinda favor of bob.
"Turn the Page" Please!
Paul Harris is an American keyboard player and musician and did piano and organ on this track.
Harris appears on several albums of the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s by leading artists such as Stephen Stills, B. B. King,[1] Judy Collins, Grace Slick, Al Kooper, ABBA, Eric Andersen, Rick Derringer, Nick Drake, John Martyn, John Sebastian, John Mellencamp, Joe Walsh, Seals & Crofts, Bob Seger and Dan Fogelberg. In the 1970s, he was a member of Stephen Stills' band Manassas and later the Souther-Hillman-Furay Band. He currently resides in Florida.
Love it!!!
Bob Segar, huge talent. He wrote a lot of songs that are looking back and reviewing life. Turn the Page is about life on tour
That piano player did not have to hit that many key strokes behind bob's great voice to sound like the perfect wallpaper of beautiful blend. These lyrics are literally part of my best distance running memories. It just seemed to me it was less often the wind was helping me down the sidewalk with a friendly boost.
Likely Bob played piano on this! His songs are autobiographical in nature
DEEP, DEEP RABBIT HOLE! SO many great songs that you need to hear! 🙂
A very good tune with awesome piano and acoustic guitar combo is by Dan Fogelberg: Tuscon, Arizona (Gazette)
Bob was in the middle of releasing hit records through my basic training and active Army days with me joining basic at age twenty far away from my home town where I continued playing pool after work over beers and dance floors. I loved distance running for kicks and grins with Bob Seger in the headphones. His lyrics seemed to fit what I was up to or how I felt in someone else's small big town while off duty with my paycheck to spend.
Epic!
BOB'S SONGS WERE ABOUT LIFE IN THE 60S AND 70S,
He was a cross country runner in school and that gave some incentive to write this song about his travels!
yes ..bruce springstien his album ..darkness on the edge of town .....great music on there
Check out Rick Springfield "Jessie's girl" "Don't talk to strangers" "Human touch" "Affair of the heart" "Rock of life" "Dance the world away"
To some this may sound crazy, but for all the success and noteriety Bob Sager gets, I think he is still underrated. He can stand up against any song writer not just of his era but of the past 50 years. He is a genius songwriter. Lyrically brilliant.
