That’s a fantastic job the boat looks excellent that would be a boat I’d be very proud to own. Are used to own an 18 foot outrage that was the best boat I ever owned
Thanks! The rear bench is made out of composite decking material. It’s pretty heavy & wedged in so there are no tie downs or anything. It holds itself in place.
Great job, i'm looking at buying a boat just like it that needs a bit of love. Not quite as much as yours did, though. For the nav lights, were you concerned about someone standing on either the port or starboard forward side of the boat, blocking their view from other vessels? I think I would have stuck with the bow mounted nav lights for that reason
I don’t remember exactly how we’ve got the switch panel wired up. Sorry about that! Lots of stuff in the way under the console now. The footwell lights came from Amazon but we’ve had to replace a few and the others have become discolored. I’d recommend buying a quality brand.
Thanks! The aluminum square tube is 3” x 2”. I believe they came in 3ft sticks but it may have been a longer piece we cut. We purchased it online somewhere. Check out Stock Car Steel & Aluminum. They have a great selection of all kind of metals & great pricing.
Tremendous machine precisely this Saturday I'm going to see a similar restored one from 1971 and I'm going to try it if I like it I'll take it 👍

Looks great i have the same boat with a teak center console.
Looks great. What is the rear bench made of and how did you secure it?

Thank you very much! On this boat, especially at night there’s usually a max of 2-3 people on there, so it wasn’t a concern for us.
What motor?...more then a 25hp I guess?..thanks great video!
It is the original 1985 Evinrude 90 horsepower engine!
Is the back bench mounted or does it just lay in? Looking to add a bench to my 84.
It just lays in place.
Did you place the batteries in a battery box in the recess or just a battery box cover?
Yes, they are in plastic battery boxes to prevent any acid from leaking on to the deck.
What footwell lights are those and also any chance for a wiring diagram with the panel

What pound thrust is that trolling motor and shaft Length? And how is it!?
Awesome build. What size aluminum stock for the console? Where did you purchase it? Looking at doing the same thing to my console. Thanks!

saw you had N C numbers. were in NORTH CAROLINA are you? We have a 89 17 Montauk on Lake WYLIE !!!!
Apologies for the late reply. We typically are on Mountain Island Lake, but sometimes will try Lake Norman in early spring or fall!
Where did you get those light strips that you use as navigation lights
We got them from Amazon
How do these do in rough waters?
They do really well. Obviously don’t want to go deep sea fishing in a 17 footer but she’ll handle well.
