Will try to utilize your foul line drills today! I've rewatched this video at least a half dozen times and took photos to practice with......when I try doing them at home looking into a mirror, I find myself at times out of sync by overthinking like a basketball shot, a pool shot! I just started bowling again weekly from a 40 year hiatus! Very inconsistent but getting better. Missed a 200 last week by 1 pin but had 3 other games averaging around 130.....It's definitely my balance that has prevented me from being consistent. My ball does not move at all. I also am learning to correct my hand position of being under the ball (under the imaginary equator line that I learned from a Brad and Kyle video). I used to hold my ball around 11 o'clock and throwing it. So I will try to adjust this today along with my balancing. The results may be disastrous today if I overthink what I am doing! Hopefully, this is not the case!! I'm still using my old 16 lb Ebonite ball from 40 years ago. Eventually will buy a new ball. From what I learned yesterday for the proper size, take my weight and divide by 11. So I should move down to a 15 lb ball. But which ball to get with so many choices. I feel I should get more consistent first before buying a new ball which will hook. Thank you for such a great video Rebecca!!!
That’s great! The more drills you do the less thinking will be involved. Sounds like you’re doing smart practice which is great. I would suggest talking to a good pro shop operator for a suggestion on a ball. You’ll find a new reactive ball easier and more fun to work with. Keep us posted and good luck!
ima bowler, 200 house shot avg... i like your channel and your delivery; straight forward and succinct; GOOD information, too. your videos address issues bowlers experience.
Well, yesterday I focused on keeping the index and pointer fingers "V" towards the pins and my elbow close to my body. My right shoulder already dips slightly due to my back, so I focused on bringing the arm back. Earlier watched a Brad and Kyle video to imagine a string from my middle finger down to the ball, as my 2nd step forward the string pulls the ball down. I began my approach and never felt like I was overthinking where I had to stop and restart. Since my 40 year old rubber Ebonite ball has no movement, it's a pretty straight line to the pins. My accuracy yesterday was the best since I started bowling weekly again mid Jan. after a 40 year hiatus. I didn't find myself off balance at all. Honestly in trying to remember, I do not recall if I planted my right foot in the proper finishing position, holding it as you suggest. I just kept bowling and my 1 hour finished with starting a 5th game...I ended up averaging 166 for the night. I started with 189, 153, 171, 141 & finished with 177. I had not kept all my previous outings scores but had them print off this and will keep a running average. I mentally was averaging around 140 or so the previous 8 outings since starting to bowl weekly. I ran into one of my mentors at the alley and told him the tips I had been using on here. I asked him, "when do you think I am ready to get a new ball that I can begin learning how to throw a hook (since I throw a straight shot)"? He has an 15 pound ball he said he would give to me. So I think when he comes back from a Vegas tournament next weekend, I'll take him up on this offer and have it professionally drilled. I am going to start your can in a bag drill today!! I wish I had had training like this when I was first learning on the fly as a kid in the early '60s!! Guess you can train an old dog after all :)) Thank you again Rebecca!!!
That's great! Keep up the great work and have fun with the new ball when you get it! It will open a lot of option up for you and I am sure you will see your scores go up. You probably will want a spare ball as well for the corner pins.
Another thing would be to make sure your head is steady and not moving. When your head moves and it’s not still, it can cause you to pull the ball, not post the shot, and less accuracy.
That’s usually a humidity issue. Make sure your shoes are clean with a shoe brush and you could try a little slide on your slide foot. Also make sure approaches are clean. But yes if you’re sticking it’s hard to post a shot well

Thank you!! About to go bowling today😂
Great video! Balance is crucial. I find myself working on that often.
Yes super important! Thanks for the comment!

Thanks so much for the feedback! I really appreciate it!

Hi my friend is it true to have a 24 feet in a stand your arm out that way
Hi Jim I’m not sure I understand what you are asking?

Good point! Thanks for the comment
@@RebeccaBowls OK my friend I saw the video if you stand your arm 24 feet will you ball better
I am sticking at the line a lot. Does balance impact that?

@@RebeccaBowls thank you for the response. I have had sticking issues with my shoes for a long time. Will try the glide before getting a new pair
@@ayo4325 let us know if that helps!
@@RebeccaBowls certainly will!
@@RebeccaBowls One more question please. What do I need to do to stop hopping at the foul line?
In most cases for me, it's because my pushaway was too late and my body is trying to catch up.
that makes sense. Timing is so important!
