Just the way flea took over for him is crazy. Imagine how well they have to know each other for that happen. The drummer knew when to come back in on Flea and everything.
soloing without a string honestly isnt as hard as i think people think it is, most of the time when you’re soloing you’re playing around scales and chord shapes. and when you’re doing this you are trying not to play up and down the notes in the scales but rather jumping across strings playing with feel and then playing around chord shapes on the grander chords (V, I). You aren’t being required to use every string when you do this because like I said you aren’t attempting to hit every note in the scale/chord. if you break your sixth string (low E) its barely makes it any harder to solo, it only becomes difficult when you break your 2 highest strings (B, e) because most solos revolve around playing higher notes to stand out from the guitar parts in other parts of the song. even then its still entirely possible to solo especially if you are primarily just bending. i own an ibanez at the moment with a broken high e string because i havent had the chance to buy new strings and its only slightly harder to improvise than it is on my fully stringed prs. the only genre ive found it actually difficult to improvise in without a string is jazz. in jazz you primarily play around 2 octave arpeggios which ive just found very difficult to sound nice without my e string. it sounds a bit contradicting because i said when john solos he uses chord shapes a lot which is pretty easy. but just trust me, i feel like it requires a decent amount of experience to state something like that and im sorry if i sound retarded or ignorant its lowkey like 4am and im tired as fucc.

You spelled D'addario wrong. That Tele held together just fine.
@@HipsterEatinShark uh oh, the Jimmy Neutron joke/reference flew over someone's head...
@@gonzacollao Well, I mean, I was actually replying to the OP, Gonzalo. But I confess-sitting around keeping my kid’s cartoon references sharp is an area I’m super weak on. I’m way too busy NOT nursing a bong in my mom’s living room to get whatever dumb reference you made.
In fact, I wasn’t even referring to you. You’ll get that the world doesn’t revolve around what you say as you go through certain... changes. For now, clean the spaghettios off your bib, and go clean your room...
That guitar tone is so badass!
I think a lot of ppl are misreading the situation. That flea solo would have happened regardless of if that string broke or not, it’s what they do on this particular song. Give John credit, he rocked that solo, and then kept going with flea during his part. Phenomenal musicians
Such a great awareness, after the sting breaks he just waits so patiently to mirror that last phrase, giving it musical meaning. A moment of mastery.
Bro John's and fleas musical connection is insane
0:20 Anthony's little dance is awesome.
0:50 my mood all the time
They both paying final respect to that string who died on duty.
I could NEVER figure out how the damn drummer did all those WILL FARRELL movies and still found time to drum for the chili peppers... 🤔
Yeah he's so talented
This is the best if you have to ask performance ever!
Ak: finally the solo my lunch break
21 years ago!! WOW time flies...
I just broke my guitar string less than two minutes ago and now all of my UA-cam recommendations are about broken strings
0:20 Anthony is doing the SpongeBob Christmas dance
I just had 2 things to say
1) Imagine being asked to keep up with Anthony and Flea's energy. Good God!
2) I've seen this string issue a lot... with other masters and never in this way. It takes a LOT of musicality to just seemlessly go into "Well for the higher notes I'll just bend the hell out of my string" mode. John is seriously amazing at guitar. Also he and flea have such a great energy together, I really hope this lasts.
John is so good that even the “your favorite band sucks” guys agreed when they did the ep on RHCP
This video is how I start to love this band.
Who knew you could jam so hard with just one chord
Those two freak are unreal! Such talent, how can you now smile and bob your head.
