66yo, been on statins (5mg resuvastatin) and ezetimibe for 20 years --- all I can say is that I'm the ONLY one in my peer group with ZERO calcium and no ASCVD/stenosis (CT Angiogram). I keep my apoB/ldlc around 40mg/dl (plant based). I wont be stopping any time soon. Absolutely no side effects.

Statins work by reducing inflammation, but inflammation can be reduced by dietary changes and exercise without all the nasty side effects, such as cognitive impairment and increased risk of diabetes, so why would statins be the preferred option?
Statins work by reducing cholesterol and inflammation. They also significantly reduce the risk of Alzheimers and dementia. Lifestyle changes (diet and exercise) are always the first line of treatment with drugs the second line of treatment. For primary prevention of cardiovascular disaease. For secondary prevention though, the benefits of statins are so well demonstrated that they are almost always prescribed.
How does one know if their calcium score was even checked? My husband has heart tests done around 2016 and 17 and in 2022/2023 plus stents put in. Calcium score wasn't mentioned.
It's a CT xray that you can have done. you lay down on a table and they slide you into a tube and take an xray of your chest and you're done in 5 minutes. You get your calcium score in a couple of days
i hv stent last 2 years and doctor keep push me for statin and say no harm at all. if taking statin will harden my plaque, why doctor keep push me to have my daily statin? My level of cholesterol is normal and below the normal now
Great explanation thanks. How refreshing to get some unbiased common sense information from a genuine expert!

Statis raises LP(A) .... also the best way fix this is get rid of the plaque.
Respectfully, you are mistaken. There are no current meds that effect Lp (a) and no medicine makes the plaque you have go away.

Infmmationis is caused by sugar.
Should people with high (a) take Statins? They raise (a) levels.
It does, you might want to take a PCKS9 instead.
@@charlesfuchs My insurance says no "$" so the Statin is being pushed on me.
