  • Does the Leica M8.2 worth it in 2024? How is the image quality? How is the shooting experience? What is it good for? I'm sharing my thoughts and opinions of this Leica camera as an enthusiast photographer and as someone who never really shoots a Leica M camera before.
In the video, not only I shared my experience with this camera, but I also shared some sample pictures so that you can judge for yourself how good is the image quality. Hopefully by watching this video you'll be able to learn more about the Leica M8.2. Feel free to jump to any part of this video by clicking on the chapters

The M8 is all about pure, unadulterated shooting enjoyment.
The rangefinder focusing is a joy to use, there's no massive menu system, just the essentials and that’s all you need. The 10MP gives rich colors and a unique film-like character, it’s like having an unlimited roll of film (lol). I’m glad you are enjoy it. I’ve had mine for years and I wouldn’t think of getting rid of it. Great video and thanks for sharing

It is a very fun camera. My Micro Four Thirds are now my main camera for all sort of needs, but my Leica M8.2 is now my recreational camera 😁

As someone who is deep into the rangefinder rabbit hole (I started with a Minolta CLE, a Leica M3, then a Leica MP, then a Leica M10...), my recommendation is: stick to two focal lengths max. and get good with those. You wear glasses like I do - 28mm (or equivalent) is not a good experience on rangefinders with glasses, the frame lines are hardly visible. 35mm or 50mm is the way to go.
I think you're going to enjoy your M. Take your time to explore it.

Thank you for sharing! Currently I do have the 35mm, in the future I would love to add a 21mm(which will fill the entire RF frame without the guidelines).

@@Gary_W The best 21mm you will find is the Zeiss 21mm. Go for that one. Should you ever use that one on a full frame body, you will not be sorry.

I have M8 and Q. After extensive use of both, I find Q to be way more filmic if i can call a sensor that. I never found M8 to be “digital Kodakchrome” like many say and there is surprising amount of latitude in RAW file. With that said, RAWs have accurate colors when just imported in ACR with particulary nice blues and browns. Q to me is way way more something that resembles film like qualities including fine grain at high ISO, it’s amazing and like nothing other I shot with.

I bought an M8.2 in good condition two weeks ago, because the perfection of my Sony A1 got a bit boring.
I must say, that I really like the colors you get right out of the camera. Especially red and blue tones in particular are richer and more differentiated than I know from CMOS sensors. It's not just more saturation - it's richer. Of course, that camera limits you in many ways, but as long as you use it within it's limits, it makes fun shooting it. I don't know, how long this enthusiasm will last, but when I am fed up some day, I am pretty sure, that I can sell it without loss. A much better situation compared to the M9 suffering from unstoppable sensor corrosion.
Regarding the battery: Make sure, you go through a full discharge/charge cycle by running it down in the camera and then fully recharging it. After the electronics inside the battery had this chance for recalibration, it should work pretty well.

Gary, die besten kameras sind die MFT-Kameras. Preiswert, sehr gute Qualität und große Objektivauswahl!
Vintage- Feeling gibt es auch viel billiger als mit der Leica. Z.Bsp. mit einer Rollei.😊

I have one of these little wonders that I mainly shoot in a preset monochrome profile. The results are very nice indeed! One point about calibration. Before you start adjusting the viewfinder you need to calibrate the lens itself which isn’t hard to do. I’ve done it with the exact same lens. Just saying✌️🇦🇺

@@Millicente I get the point! Lake's camera was the king of the era of film photography. Now many camera manufacturers have cameras that have significantly superior technical parameters compared to Leika and are significantly, many times cheaper.
And if you want to stroke your pride and go back to the past, then the flag is in your hands.
      Good luck!

My favorite Leica. Sadly, the batteries have poor life and catastrophic issues will result. Eventually there will be banding and dead pixels. No corrosions like the M9, just crippling failures will happen. I've owned 6 of them over the last 8years. Don't be fooled into getting one. Just save up a bit more for an M240 or M10.

Prediction: You will end up selling one or two of your guitars to purchase a used Leica M10 with a Leica lens in a few months. :)

    • @user-ww4cg8zy4j
      @user-ww4cg8zy4j 3 місяці тому +1

You'd have to be crazy to sell your guitars and buy a Leika M 10 camera. The lens for it costs as much as the Leika camera itself. There is no point in using third-party photo lenses in Lake's camera.
There are now many manufacturers producing hybrid cameras that are technically superior to Lake in many respects.
