How do people not think Anakin's turn is earned? He has the most horrible things happen to him while he is being groomed by the greatest master manipulator in all of cinema.
I feel bad for obi-wan. He threatens to leave the jedi order to train Anakin, keeps encouraging him and is like a brother to him, but he can't save Anakin

@@tristanlanphere7736 i've come to love the theory of the force dyad...that padme gave up her life force for anakin to live and be redeemed by his children...that she realized he'd be damned forever if he died and she lived...
I never saw a problem with this and thought the criticism was dumb. First of all this can literally happen in real life. Second this is a space opera what’s the big deal?
Truth is that people’s heart structures can literally collapse in on itself from too much pain or stress of losing someone or something that had great significance or importance to them. Broken heart syndrome is a real thing. It happened to one of my aunts and it has even happened to Carrie Fisher’s own mother after Carrie passed away! While I like the idea of Palpatine using the force to essentially keep the one he wanted from dying ala force draining padme’s essence to heal Anakin, I think that it is completely reasonable for her to die from her broken heart. Makes it even more tragic since it solidifies that it was Anakin’s fault for her death when Palpatine tells him that he (Anakin) killed her. That being said, I don’t see why both the Palpatine theory and her true reason for her death can’t be plausible within the story.
Yeah... Everyone makes fun of the whole "broken heart" thing, but come on... If the love of your life suddenly became a mass murderer and killed a room full of children, AND you had to give birth immediately after, you'd probably struggle to handle that too!
Anakin’s turn to the dark side makes perfect sense. Besides everything you’ve already stated, in Episode 2 Anakin already expresses to Padme how he doesn’t think the current system works and those who disagree should be “made to agree”, and how he’d be open to a dictatorship “if it works…” Anakin’s biggest driving force to the Dark Side, IMO, was always his desire for control, whether with noble intentions or not. From his time as a slave creating things behind Watto’s back, to disregarding orders to stay on Tatooine to save Obi Wan, to turning against the Jedi to save Padme, he would do anything to take some control of his situation. In the OT being aboard the Death Star and keeping all the personnel in check just carries on his desire for control
The prequels were ahead of their time and they remain ahead of their time even today. They embraced topics like the Hegelian dialectic and false-flag attacks that continue to go over the heads of most people.
i always loved the politics and the general story...some of the dialogue sucks and i don't understand why anakin loves padme..she humiliated him in AoTC..'he's just a padawan.' but some of the dialogue is stellar ~ 'this is how liberty dies...with thunderous applause.'

I feel like dooku became a sith out of spite for the Jedi. He’s so shocked by palpatine telling anakin to do it, because he never really knew what the sith were about. He joined the sith purely out of his dissatisfaction with the Jedi.
The Utapau thing is so weird, but shows an important trait that's pervasive in the Jedi Order... arrogance. You're going to confront the face of the galactic civil war that's had y'all in a bind for 3yrs, and you send one jedi? Obi-Wan is a legend but frankly, they should've sent more. Sending Anakin and the 501st with Obi-Wan to Utapau just makes a lot more sense to me
Since most attacks are covered I will defend the NOOOO part. In that scene vader realizes the consequences of his actions that he can never reverse. And he realizes he has lost not only his lover, but EVRYTHING. Keep in mind this is an adaptation of Greek tragedy to the Silver Screen. It's his last word as Anakin Skywalker and First emotion of a new Darth Vader. How could you not yelp in despair at your lowest point!? And now he knows there is no going back to the way things used to be. He sealed his own fate, just like the Greek Tragedy of Oedipus Rex. Perfect ending in my eyes.
Lost just about everything, forever, over the course of a few hrs, at the age of 25. "NOOOO" is about the most succinct way to describe that feeling haha
I mean everything about it is fine if you just remove the word no. An unintelligible scream of anguish and rage is absolutely appropriate. The only mistake was having him screaming noooo like a cartoon.
Very good rundown i loved all those movies. People pick on hayden but man his spots in ahsoka and obiwan were amazing. The twinkle in his eyes and smirks were awesone
as a german wachting the movie with the german dub, i never understood why hayden got so much flag for his acting. when my understanding of the english language got better, i could see why some lines may have sounded a bit strange for english audiences ( still love the acting btw. ) the thing is that the german voice of Anakin sounds more adult, so the lines sounded a bit more composed and less whiny. check it out if you can.
If anyone hasn’t watched the the talk by Camille paglia about revenge of the Sith on UA-cam go watch it. The epicness and story of revenge of the Sith is so unbelievably good
I do like your interpretation that the choice of killing Windu and his naming as Vader was a real “in for a penny, in for a pound” for him. I never really viewed this as a “point of no return” because we had Return of the Jedi already.
The point is Anakin had to choose between following orders or risking Padme’s life. Anakin chose attachment over his duty to the jedi. “Once you go down the dark path forever will it dominate your destiny.” - Yoda.
13:27 You forgot to mention Anakin being a slave for the first 9 years of his life, and that the childhood trauma, humiliation and anger from that, along with the fear of permanently being separated via the selling off of he or his mother, played a huge role in fueling Anakin's emotional struggles and attachment issues. Also, as an aside, it's ironic that Anakin Skywalker is born a slave, is then freed and trained as a Jedi, only to fall to the dark side and become the Sith Lord, Darth Vader, then be confronted by and subsequently suffer grievous injuries at the hands of his former best friend, in the process losing his wife as a direct result of his actions which he misguidedly committed to try and save her, and be forced to live the rest of his life as a slave once more, haunted by the knowledge that he himself had killed or destroyed everyone and everything he had ever loved. It was only with the intervention of his Son, Luke, more than two decades later, and the attempted murder of his Son by his Sith master via electric torture, that Vader finally managed to break free of his dark shackles and redeem himself as Anakin once more, saving his Son, Daughter and the Rebellion at large, and destroying the Emperor, at the cost of his own life.
I was 13 when I first saw it in theaters. The story of Anakin’s fall to the dark side is very tragic the more you understand where he is coming from. Even more sad is how he becomes a slave to the most dictatorial Sith Lord in the galaxy.
Dude, I always assumed that Palpatine was implanting the dreams of Shmi and later of Padme into Anakin's mind. The guy watched Anakin ever since he was a small boy and knew exactly how to manipulate him. And, I also agree with your theory of Palpatine draining the life force from Padme and transferring it to Vader. I've thought that ever since I saw the movie in theaters back in 2005. Great video!
It's confirmed that Sheev put the dreams about Padme into Anakin's head, but I think it was after Anakin told him about the nightmares of his mother dying before she did
I agree with the good points you mention. A Jedi Order/Republic that creates its own destroyer is a great concept, and we do have some nice acting moments or fight scenes here and there. Sadly, we have to slog through a lot of unnecessary plot elements, stiff writing and directing, etc. Have you ever seen Belated Media's stab at rewriting the prequels?
I always like to theorize what Sidious would do if Anakin defeated Obi-Wan - clearly Anakin is only his apprentice as long as he can get something out of it, and already on Mustafar he's telling Padme that he can overpower him. The thing is, I believe Sidious is perfectly fine with being overthrown. He tells Yoda that Vader will surpass them both, and at this point he has achieved a flawless victory; The jedi and the republic are no more, and he has the chosen one as his new sith apprentice. I believe he feels satisfied and is now simply looking to solidify things before Vader inevitably kills him. It is is however also interesting that after the real events in the EP III movie Sidious doesn't seem to do much besides building the death star to solidify his grip on the galaxy. He doesn't look for a different apprentice until Luke shows up. Was he hoping Vader would kill him and then get his own apprentice to continue the Sith rule?
I do love this movie, but I sympathize with the argument that Anakin’s turn is unearned. While there is plenty of set up, it feels there should be more events that proceed him disarming Mace. While he distrusts the council, there isn’t much of a reason for him to just throw everything away like that. This is less of an issue if you watch TCW, which show Anakin resorting to dark side techniques and therefore set up his rapid corruption. It goes from him changing his behavior on a dime to revealing everything built up in a dramatic climax
Sorry yall. I was a prequel hater. But ive realized that i was demanding the same reaction i had as a little kid to the ot, and thats impossible. As a little kid i didnt understand the political undercurrent of the ot, i just saw vader and pew pew. It was always there, and that misunderstanding left me disappointed in the prequels. When i watch them now, i just feel happy to see the work of a director who was able to get closer to his vision than ever before. Who could have guessed a trained artist would create a more nuanced story than a 6 year olds imagination?

Thank you for debunking all of the rumors and all the nonsense they've been saying about the prequels the lack of bonding between Anakin and Obi-Wan you pretty much proved that everybody's human and everybody's acting according to the situation and how everybody else will react and life circumstances thank you for putting some value in the prequel it's mostly about the consequences what's the decision that we make
Mace was Mos def correct in trying to kill Palpy while he was disarmed. Palpy didn't even like using lightsabers and really only did it to mock the jedi to show how easy it is. He's said to rather like to use lightning and other force abilities, so technically a Palpy without his saber is much more dangerous

“That business on Cato Neimoidia” is actually covered in TWO books-one in Legends, and one in Canon, and I HIGHLY recommend that you read both of them! I’m not a big EU reader whatsoever, but those two books had me hooked from start to finish, especially in audiobook form, because they include the soundtrack and sound effects from the films, creating a hugely cinematic atmosphere. In Legends, the story is told in Labyrinth of Evil, which tells the story of Obi-Wan and Anakin on Cato Neimoidia at almost the exact same time as Grievous’ abduction of Palpatine, only a few hours before Revenge of the Sith. In Canon, the story is told in Brotherhood, which is absolutely phenomenal. Lots of great character and relationship storytelling, especially between Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Padmé! Both books also have heavy ties to the Revenge of the Sith novelization by Matthew Stover, which is, to me, still the best version of the Episode III story.
@@Scottadamsfan3481 I don't read much from either Legends or Canon. I love the stories, and I keep up with them, but I don't always have the time to stop and read a full book.
I still remember going to this opening night and I couldn't believe what a masterpiece it was. Of course it has issue. and more but now as an adult I seriously can't believe the story and all the heart, soul and depth put into these. And after 7-9 I have SOOOO much more respect and love for 1-3.
Great Video. ROTS is such a great movie. WHILE STILL PLAGUED WITH LUCAS"S CHOICE OF WRITING AT TIMES. I personally think its the best one but at the same time I was born in 1997. So i didn't get the opportunity to grow up watching ANH, ESB ROTJ. I feel its the better movie because of that second half where you know the fall of the jedi is happening. You know (after watching it once) that its all bittersweet at this point. Knowing obi wan and anakin aren't friends anymore. That anakin is now a sith, destroying all the "good" that the first 2 movies and a half showed. While the OT is fine and Ill watch it before the ST. It just doesn't have that "emotional swing" i guess. Yeah luke finds out anakin his father is Darth vader sure. But Obi wan has to find out his brother is evil, yoda finds out the chosen one went bad. The fall of a free society in the galaxy compared to the empire. Is alot more weight to burden then just finding out darth vader is your father imo. Ill never agree that george lucas has good dialogue 100% throughout these movies. But I respect that man for creating a vision as ambitious as all 6 of the movies. Like its crazy to think the only CGI in the original star wars was a black and white screen that showed a simulation of the trench run. To the last movie showing one of the best uses of CGI In modern history with the Battle of Corosant. Not to many movies have CGI made to THAT level anymore. Alot of new CGI just feels Cheap IMO.
In the movie no one says that Padme dies from a broken heart. She tells Anakin that he's breaking her heart, then later the robot says for reasons they don't understand they are loosing her. I think people have conflated the two or are oversimplifying.
i have come to love the theory of the force dyad...that padme gave up her life force so anakin could live...she knew if he died then, he'd be damned forever...she died believeing his children could redeem him...
Those two lines seem pretty obviously linked to me. In terms of story telling it makes more sense to me than anything else. "Dying of a broken heart" is a well known thing (whether it exists scientifically is a separate issue). There's no "conflating" the two things. They're clearly meant to be linked together. Especially because it's the end of the film and there are no hints or indications of anything else going on. Yes, her dying scenes and Vader's birth scenes are linked. But that's good editing/story telling. I'd need more than intercut scenes like that to think that something else is going on. I've also never heard someone can force drain life force from so far away. Yes, sidious says Anakin killed her. But realistically he'd want to say that anyway because it's a huge guilt trip and an excellent means of control. If he thinks she's dead he won't go looking for her. And sidious can reasonably assume she won't go looking for him now he's evil. No need for weird force shenanigans. Assuming those lines aren't linked is overcomplicating things and reading into it way too much.
That buisness on Cato Nemoidia is covered in the opening to the novel Labyrinth of Evil. It also released before the movie, letting us EU fans know their reading was not for nothing lol When pursuing Nute Gunray on Cato Nemoidia, the pair gets seperated. Anakin on the upper levels, Obi-Wan in the lower. While Obi-Wan and a group of clones are fending off an overwhelming amount of droids, a stray bolt hits a canister containing a potent fungus that when breathed in, essentially nakes you drunk, high, or loopy to some degree. Obi-Wan had earlier dropped his rebreather, so he was completely intoxicated whilst also still fending off all those droids, to Commander Cody's astonishment. Anakin later makes his way down to help out Kenobi and gives him his rebreather. The book is highly praised and has a lot going for it if you're ever interested in reading it. I'm actually one of the few who wasnt the biggest fan, but im certainly in the super minority with that, you will more than likely enjoy the hell out of it. Anyways, absolutely loved these three videos! I know this was made mostly as a defence of the prequels, but would you consider making similar videos on the original trilogy? Regardless of that stance, these are REALLY nice appreciation pieces and a very positive thing all around. I'd love to see tou make something similar for the OT, just to complete the set.
the whole broken heart thing was probably just to satisfied the Love Story not the actual plot . Palpatine killing her makes a better argument due to the fact that if you actually watch the footage very carefully you can see Padme dies at the same time as Anakin is reborn as the dark lord . so in reality what actually happened Palpatine took padme's life force and gave it to Vader healling his burns that could kill him but that life force was from Padme that killed her
I absolutely agree with mace for killing palps like I get the no killing an unarmed prisoner but 1 palpatine was not turning himself in and 2 and more importantly. HE SEEMED PRETTY FUCKING ARMED TO ME. And even if he wasn’t pretending to be tired what would it take 30 seconds to catch his breath then using thunderbolt? Sith don’t need a weapon to be armed as they can do physical damage to people solely thru wielding the force and it’s not like you can tie his arms. Vader is able to use the force without moving his arms he just used it. Not even considering my man doesn’t even have limbs in that movie.!!!
Very good video, Curt. This was recommended to me, and you earned a sub. I am an unapologetic prequel lover for the story alone. Don’t get me wrong, there’s so much to love; the music, the fights, etc. But the story is truly what makes these films masterpieces in my mind.
my favorite passage from Revenge of the Sith Novel “ There is an understated elegance in Obi-Wan Kenobi’s lightsaber technique, one that is quite unlike the feel one might get from the other great swordsbeings of the Jedi Order. He lacks entirely the flash, the pure bold élan of an Anakin Skywalker; there is nowhere in him the penumbral ferocity of a Mace Windu or a Depa Billaba nor the stylish grace of a Shaak Ti or a Dooku, and he is nothing resembling the whirlwind of destruction that Yoda can become. He is simplicity itself. That is his power. Before Obi-Wan had left Coruscant, Mace Windu had told him of facing Grievous in single combat atop a mag-lev train during the general’s daring raid to capture Palpatine. Mace had told him how the computers slaved to Grievous’s brain had apparently analyzed even Mace’s unconventionally lethal Vaapad and had been able to respond in kind after a single exchange.” “He must have been trained by Count Dooku,” Mace had said, “so you can expect Makashi as well; given the number of Jedi he has fought and slain, you must expect that he can attack in any style, or all of them. In fact, Obi-Wan, I believe that of all living Jedi, you have the best chance to defeat him.” This pronouncement had startled Obi-Wan, and he had protested. After all, the only form in which he was truly even proficient was Soresu, which was the most common lightsaber form in the Jedi Order. Founded upon the basic deflection principles all Padawans were taught-to enable them to protect themselves from blaster bolts-Soresu was very simple, and so restrained and defense-oriented that it was very nearly downright passive. “But surely, Master Windu,” Obi-Wan had said, “you, with the power of Vaapad-or Yoda’s mastery of Ataro-” Mace Windu had almost smiled. “I created Vaapad to answer my weakness: it channels my own darkness into a weapon of the light. Master Yoda’s Ataro is also an answer to weakness: the limitations of reach and mobility imposed by his stature” “and his age. But for you? What weakness does Soresu answer?” Blinking, Obi-Wan had been forced to admit he’d never actually thought of it that way. “That is so like you, Master Kenobi,” the Korun Master had said, shaking his head. “I am called a great swordsman because I invented a lethal style; but who is greater, the creator of a killing form-or the master of the classic form?” “I’m very flattered that you would consider me a master, but really-” “Not a master. The master,” Mace had said. “Be who you are, and Grievous will never defeat you.” So now, facing the tornado of annihilating energy that is Grievous’s attack, Obi-Wan simply is who he is.”
I find this film hard to watch cuz of how painful it is... but i still regard it as a masterpiece, albeit a bit rushed with janky dialogue.. Attack of the Clones is still my fav
Are the prequels perfect? No, of course not, no movies are. However they were ahead of their time and tell an amazing story beautifully, all while pioneering CGI and new effects that still look great today
First time I saw it was on Christmas day when I was 10. Had gotten the DVD as a gift. I also got a build your own lightsaber set and had constructed Anakin's lightsaber. After the younglin's scene I immediately disassembled it.😅
I've got to disagree with you on "to suppress his emotions". That is not what the Jedi teach. Anakin may misunderstand the teachings as such, but what the Jedi are saying is that you have to accept your emotions and then let them go instead of holding onto your emotions (which trying to suppress them would be because that's just hiding and burying them instead of dealing with them) and allowing them to rule you. Same with the fear of loss: accept and let go, do not let your attachments rule you.
_They're friends, they're comrades now._ Seems legit. Fighting side-by-side in a war tends to have that effect. 👍 _Anakin cares...not only about Obi-Wan but about each and every clone as well. He won't leave without Obi-Wan, he wants to go back to help the clones, he has clearly matured a lot._ I'd argue that this is just character consistency. Remember, the very first time we _ever_ see Anakin, he's intervening to prevent a local thug from beating up some random stranger, _then_ he invites that stranger and his friends to shelter from the oncoming sandstorm in his home, and _then_ he risks his life in a potentially-lethal race so that this group of people whom he's only just met can fix their starship. Selflessness is actually a core element of Anakin's personality.
I think part of the disagreement on whether Anakin’s fall/turn was “earned” comes from looking at it in two different ways. From a character perspective, I agree that his turn is justified and feels in-character _given all of the events, as they transpired._ Not only the manipulations by Palpatine and the idiotic decisions by the Jedi Council, but also some of the bad decisions Anakin makes. There are several points in Eps II and III where Anakin chooses to just assume he understands what is going on rather than investigate or ask questions or talk to someone. If those behaviors feel in-character to the viewer, then so will the final outcome. If those behaviors feel like the writers handed him the idiot ball to make them happen, then the outcome will feel forced, too. So that’s the first split in analysis on this question. But even if we all agreed that everything Anakin does makes sense given the circumstances, there’s the question of whether the circumstances make sense. And that’s where I think the real split in the analyses comes from. From what I’ve seen, those who say Anakin’s turn isn’t earned aren’t saying that, given those circumstances, it isn’t believable that he’d side with Palpatine and turn to the Dark Side. They’re saying that the circumstances necessary to put Anakin in that psychological place are too contrived. Now, obviously _all_ fiction is contrived, to varying degrees. So there’s no objective or universal measure and people are going to disagree about whether an event or sequence of events or a character’s response to an event is “contrived” or “believable”. See also: truth is stranger than fiction. But if a viewer feels like the events of Eps II-III are too contrived, with too many coincidences or situations where _other_ characters are carrying the idiot ball, then Anakin’s turn will feel unearned at the narrative level, even if it feels earned when looked at purely from his perspective.
I’m so glad I was a child who got to get into Star Wars when it was still the real shit *pre disney* I still hold the prequels to high regard even higher than the original trilogy

So Anikan killed younglings because he feared losing Padme? You're giving that tight little body too much credit. They tried to use great acting to mask bad storytelling. i just use the force to open the automatic doors at the store daily
I always saw her dying from a broken heart was essential a heart attack from shock and stress.
There’s a theory that Palatine reached through the force and killed her… but that’s only a theory.
Besides everything you’ve already stated, in Episode 2 Anakin already expresses to Padme how he doesn’t think the current system works and those who disagree should be “made to agree”, and how he’d be open to a dictatorship “if it works…”
Anakin’s biggest driving force to the Dark Side, IMO, was always his desire for control, whether with noble intentions or not.
I can stand and say I’ve never been a prequel hater. This is the greatest film in the whole series. Such a wonderful film.
@@kimmypfeiffer9130 I didn't hate the politics as a kid, but I didn't understand it and therefore didn't care for it. Now that I'm much older and have more of an understanding of politics, I appreciate the politics a lot more. I love the fact that Star Wars has always been a story about two conflicts existing simultaneously, a political conflict between liberty (represented by an idealised version of the Republic) and tyranny (represented by the Empire) and a greater spiritual conflict between the Light Side of the Force (represented by the Jedi) and the Dark Side of the Force (represented by the Sith).
Sending Anakin and the 501st with Obi-Wan to Utapau just makes a lot more sense to me
Thank you for giving the best reviews you got some people on UA-cam saying why the clone wars makes the prequel better
The “NOOOOO!” Part sounds goofy as hell
Very good rundown i loved all those movies. People pick on hayden but man his spots in ahsoka and obiwan were amazing. The twinkle in his eyes and smirks were awesone
as a german wachting the movie with the german dub, i never understood why hayden got so much flag for his acting.
when my understanding of the english language got better, i could see why some lines may have sounded a bit strange for english audiences ( still love the acting btw. )
the thing is that the german voice of Anakin sounds more adult, so the lines sounded a bit more composed and less whiny.
check it out if you can.
The Opera scene - Padmé's ruminations - Obi-Wan visits Padmé. How could anyone not like this movie?
I think that too....
It's confirmed that Sheev put the dreams about Padme into Anakin's head, but I think it was after Anakin told him about the nightmares of his mother dying before she did
The book labyrinth of evil answers the question of what happened on Cato Neimoidia
I was terrified of Palpatine/Sideous watching this one.
The book Brotherhood covers Kaito Nemodia. That is probably spelled wrong lol. It's been a bit since I read it.
ROTS is my crying movie, I play it when I need a good cry 😢 cuz I struggle to cry haha. Yup as soon as obiwan gets shot it's a tearfest
I wish the last half of this movie was just a bit longer and we got to see everything linger and sulk a little more
best lightsaber battle EVER anakin vs. obi wan

I know you’re reuploading the clip from the other full prequel video I have already watched, but your takes are so good I gladly rewatched.
Appreciate it ❤
I always like to theorize what Sidious would do if Anakin defeated Obi-Wan - clearly Anakin is only his apprentice as long as he can get something out of it, and already on Mustafar he's telling Padme that he can overpower him.
Based, thanks for appreciating the prequels. I love the prequels and always will. I didn't hate the politics of the prequels as a kid, but I didn't understand it and therefore didn't care for it.
The way you say Ewan is criminal
My thought! 😳😬
Thank you for debunking all of the rumors and all the nonsense they've been saying about the prequels the lack of bonding between Anakin and Obi-Wan you pretty much proved that everybody's human and everybody's acting according to the situation and how everybody else will react and life circumstances thank you for putting some value in the prequel it's mostly about the consequences what's the decision that we make
Best Star Wars UA-camr idk what anyone says. KEEP IT UP BRO!
Oh wow thank you!!!
Bro can't think of any other star wars UA-camrs 😂
@@SkuYguY_ I can think of dozens, but this one’s my new favorite.
Palpatine transfering Padmes life force into Vader sounds cool. Perhaps that is why Vader still loved Luke deep down in Return of the Jedi.
I’ve always wished anakin killed palpatine after he killed mace
What about killing an unhanded prisoner?
Great video bro! You mentioned stuff that non of the other S.W content creators mentioned, and I can definitely appreciate that.. plus the way you give your review is very similar to the way I'd think about these movies..
Keep em comin bro! Best wishes!
Also.. live the Joker reference! 🃏
Your videos are excellent sir. I’ve been watching them to chill out the past couple nights
Thank you so much!
It's a Greek Tragedy
EXACTLY! the old 'bring about the terrible thing you were told would happen by trying to prevent the terrible thing you were told would happen' trick! /shoe phone rings....and if you get that joke, we're about to be best friends!
Why are you not an eu reader ? They are actually real Star Wars unlike fake Disney crap books
I never had any gripe with Revenge of the Sith. I think it's the best SW movie.
Ewan McGregor is not ‘E-Wan’, rather ‘You-En’.
The Cato Neimoidia business is explored in the book Brotherhood by Mike Chen
2:46 "the master" I see what you did there with JarJar
And that's what George Lucas was trying to do tell a very solid Deep story knowing that we can relate to the decision
@@kimmypfeiffer9130 no such thing as a force dyad . That is fake Disney trash
Saying for reasons they don’t understand is just lazy writing
I think its tragically beautiful
That buisness on Cato Nemoidia is covered in the opening to the novel Labyrinth of Evil. It also released before the movie, letting us EU fans know their reading was not for nothing lol
When pursuing Nute Gunray on Cato Nemoidia, the pair gets seperated.
I'd love to see tou make something similar for the OT, just to complete the set.
i'd rule the galaxy with you
Great video man!! True star wars content I salute you good sir
the whole broken heart thing was probably just to satisfied the Love Story not the actual plot . Palpatine killing her makes a better argument due to the fact that if you actually watch the footage very carefully you can see Padme dies at the same time as Anakin is reborn as the dark lord . so in reality what actually happened Palpatine took padme's life force and gave it to Vader healling his burns that could kill him but that life force was from Padme that killed her
Watched the jumbo video rewatching this one for the ALG Rhythm
It makes sense that Sidious would transfer Padme’s life force into Vader but not that he’d purposely lose to Windu? Ok
Very good video, Curt. This was recommended to me, and you earned a sub. I am an unapologetic prequel lover for the story alone. Don’t get me wrong, there’s so much to love; the music, the fights, etc. But the story is truly what makes these films masterpieces in my mind.
my favorite passage from Revenge of the Sith Novel
“
There is an understated elegance in Obi-Wan Kenobi’s lightsaber technique, one that is quite unlike the feel one might get from the other great swordsbeings of the Jedi Order.
Mace had told him how the computers slaved to Grievous’s brain had apparently analyzed even Mace’s unconventionally lethal Vaapad and had been able to respond in kind after a single exchange.”
“He must have been trained by Count Dooku,” Mace had said, “so you can expect Makashi as well; given the number of Jedi he has fought and slain, you must expect that he can attack in any style, or all of them. In fact, Obi-Wan, I believe that of all living Jedi, you have the best chance to defeat him.”
This pronouncement had startled Obi-Wan, and he had protested.
“But surely, Master Windu,” Obi-Wan had said, “you, with the power of Vaapad-or Yoda’s mastery of Ataro-”
Mace Windu had almost smiled. “I created Vaapad to answer my weakness: it channels my own darkness into a weapon of the light. Master Yoda’s Ataro is also an answer to weakness: the limitations of reach and mobility imposed by his stature”
“and his age. But for you? What weakness does Soresu answer?”
Blinking, Obi-Wan had been forced to admit he’d never actually thought of it that way.
“That is so like you, Master Kenobi,” the Korun Master had said, shaking his head. “I am called a great swordsman because I invented a lethal style; but who is greater, the creator of a killing form-or the master of the classic form?”
“I’m very flattered that you would consider me a master, but really-”
“Not a master. The master,” Mace had said. “Be who you are, and Grievous will never defeat you.”
So now, facing the tornado of annihilating energy that is Grievous’s attack, Obi-Wan simply is who he is.”
"Be who you are and Grievous will never defeat you" Great advice! Be yourself and everything will be okay💖💖
I find this film hard to watch cuz of how painful it is... but i still regard it as a masterpiece, albeit a bit rushed with janky dialogue.. Attack of the Clones is still my fav
The book “brotherhood” is about what happens on Cato Nemodia
Good video.
Are the prequels perfect? No, of course not, no movies are. However they were ahead of their time and tell an amazing story beautifully, all while pioneering CGI and new effects that still look great today
I honestly think this is best written / executed movie of them all. Rogue one probably being second.
💀
Feel like jedi code allows for killing of sith. Also papa palps is evil manifested
_They're friends, they're comrades now._
Seems legit. Fighting side-by-side in a war tends to have that effect. 👍
_Anakin cares...not only about Obi-Wan but about each and every clone as well. He won't leave without Obi-Wan, he wants to go back to help the clones, he has clearly matured a lot._
I'd argue that this is just character consistency.
In the book Padme is the one who tells Bail that he needs to act like he’s board with the empire in public and resist on the DL
R.O.T.S is the best Star Wars movie imo! Also dying from a broken heart happens in real life brother…it wouldn’t happen so suddenly but it’s a movie!
Cato Nemoidia: Obi-Wan got high on mushrooms that amplified his strength in the force but also sent him into a frenzy that threatened to kill him.
TCW is just a waterdown version listen to this guy review this movie highly recommend
Yes, that business on Cato Neimoidia was depicted in the Legends Labirinth of Evil novel.
He didn’t beat palatine it was all by design as per the book which states windu knew he was playing with him then anakin arrived and it all started falling into place. Let’s stop the debate lol
It's still baffles me that you all say Anakin and Obi-Wan do they have like a good bonding relationship throughout the three films light the three floors is self-explanatory Anakin turn to the dark side waa not earned this is a deeper darker in depth story telling
Revenge of the Sith it the best Star Wars movie followed by return of the Jedi.
My fav Star Wars movie. Its poetic. Btw everything is Obiwans fault. Screw him :)
REAL💯💯💯.🙏🏽🩸
there is a lot in the script that they should have left in...
If you loved Revenge of the Sith, I highly recommend you watch the Clone Wars animated series. It layering things from what we have see in the final installment of the Prequel trilogy. From the hypocrisy and arrogance of the Jedi Order to how Palpatine obtain absolute control as the Republic had become an Empire before it was ever called the First Galactic Empire. George Lucas is an absolute genius in crafting the story he is telling us.
Pls stop saying "one of my favorite scenes" if u keep it up you'll end up having 5 mil favorite scenes
i'm 54. i saw star wars in the theater when i was 7. i was 14 when return of the jedi came out...got to ditch school to see it opening day...my complaint is, was, and always will be that george lucas got tired of doing star wars, wrote himself into a corner, and said fuck it, luke and leia are brother and sister because i want the story all tied up and never ever have to do it again...for decades, people have argued 'he always intended luke and leia to be twins'...he did not..and four decades later, i've been vindicated...you see, i was such a huge fan, that i read every magazine article, watched every star wars documentary there was and some autralian guy FINALLY posted the article from preview magazine that validated every point i've made! caravan of garbage 'what happened to george lucas'...star wars sucked the second luke said 'leia is my sister'...yes, he was intended to have a twin sister...and yes! that's a totally cool twist to the story...but the twin sister was never meant to be leia...and all the crappiest parts of star wars have stemmed from having to perpetuate that piece of lazy writing from a burnt out director who thought he had more to offer us than star wars...
i hate the costume designer...i love this movie, but not gonna lie...i have to tune out padme's ridiculous outfits...
E-wan?
Ill disagree with mace being in the right to kill palp right then and there.
It was kiind of damned if you do damned if you don't moment.
For him being the master of the order he should've followed the Force -you know bring the person the Force literally created to end the sith not leave him in the temple.
Its not "i cant trust him" its "i dont believe in the Force"
Also he should've had a better plan
Afterall this was legally an assassination/take over attempt on the chancellor
it always bothered me that mace windu's response when he was leaving to confront palpatine was 'we must move swiftly if the JEDI order are to survive.' not about the republic, not about ending tyranny, not saving people in the galaxy..nope..mace cared about power just as palpatine had told anakin at the squid ballet...
@@kimmypfeiffer9130 all honesty by the RoS the Jedi's fate were pretty much sealed.
Maybe not all the order but 4/5th of it easily just do to order 66 but let's face it palps probably had a plan in case he died just to fuck over the Jedi
Yes I am a prequel hater
Yes I hate every prequel glazer
Do I love the duel on musta far Yes, Yes I do
So Anikan killed younglings because he feared losing Padme? You're giving that tight little body too much credit. They tried to use great acting to mask bad storytelling. "No, it's cause I'm so in love with you."..."What have I done?"..."I hate you!" Fear doesn't turn you into a sith, that's just step one, anger is the turn, hate is the prestige. Let's face it, they should've never had Anikan slaughtering younglings with a lightsaber. It's should've been an accident caused by Plaps, and made to look like Anikan did it, with only Palps believing in his innocence. Anni should've been on the run after that, hiding out at Ppalpatine's crib. Then Obi-One starts getting too friendly with a pregnant Padme. More ammo for Palps. Anikan tries to reach her, she tries to kill him..yada..yada..yada baby! U gotta admit I'm on to something 🤷
Not gonna lie that is an interesting idea…
No he killed them because there couldn't be any witnesses to thre Emperor's betrayal of initiating order 66. The whole reason of hunting down any remaing Jedi was to silence the truth.
they were not 'children'...they were child soldiers...they had no families as they were taken from their families as infants to be made into jedi knights...anakin did them a favor....'ooo..it's just a 'armless li'ul bunny!' that one jedi kid took out a bunch of stormtroopers in the bail organa speeder scene 'time for you to leave.' 'and so it is.' anakin slaughtered JEDI....calling them 'younglings' is a psyop..propaganda to mess with your head and engage empathy...yes they were adorable with their liittle lightsabers/deadly weapons! ...'master skywalker, what are we going to do?' and yes, i would rule the galaxy with anakin..poor dude...never saw what he saw in that bitch, padme, who humiliated him in front of the naboo council...'he's not a jedi...he's just a padawan!' ugh...
@@curthagens thank you!
mr. sunday movies validating luke and leia were not meant to be brother and sister aka the star wars i grew up with ~ ua-cam.com/video/l0dY0gPB_oU/v-deo.html
Great video bro. Reminds me of how much I love Star Wars. 🤌🏻
I didn't hate the politics of the prequels as a kid, but I didn't understand it and therefore didn't care for it.
Anakin turned because he was controlled by Darth tenebrous who escaped from his body by going into the body of a hawkbat then invading the life essence of Anakin
