It’s also succeeding because of enormous support from the Latino community. Reportedly, 30% of audiences are Latino. It’s got a majority Latino cast, as well as Director and Producer. Perhaps also, that community knows what is going on in their home countries.
No Latinos at the movie theater I went to in Austin Tx. I am part Latino part Italian . The subject crosses all ethnicities, religion and social class . Happening everywhere unfortunately
Just so you know, Angel studios has a page on their website dedicated to information about how to find resources, groups that can be supported by each of us, giving us places for more education, and what we can personally do to stop trafficking. Another reason I think the movie is successful because it personalizes the story. We can talk about numbers, which are horrible, and the un-named victims, but the numbers need faces and a compelling story. I think this movie provides them.
If someone spends a large portion of the movie exhausted and crying is a tiny spectrum of what these children go through. This film was needed regardless of anyone's comfort level. Who cares what others think or say against the movie. Opposition does not matter only the children and those who rescue them.
Isn't the whole point for us to wake up and say, "We don't want our children abused!" and stand up for what is right and pay attention in our own communities? Isn't this a call to action? Thank you Sound of Freedom! You succeeded! People are waking up.
Sure, that'd be ideal, except this has been happening for decades, so why now all of a sudden is this Ballard guy the big hero going to save the day? He's made gazillion of $$ in nonprofit donations from this "mission" and lots of it has come from the actual users of this sick system/ring themselves 😮
@@carynmartin6053because he’s bring it to light. You could use that as an argument to anything but how does that help. Why now are we talking about it? Come on. Because enough is enough!!
Saw it today in a packed theatre I was surprised when I bought my ticket the theatre was booked by 14 people when I walked in it was practically full took me by surprise
When I went to see it the movie was sold out that day so we had to buy tickets for another day. The theatre was packed. It's a really good movie and a horrible movie at the exact same time. Why did this movie succeed? The Streisand Effect.
@@waywardrachel9637 Well said, & for what better reason than this to join hand in hand in bringing a country together to protect our children against this evil!
I think your “complaint” for the end of the movie is merited. However, after seeing the movie I immediately engrossed myself in getting more information about Tim Ballard and his organizations, listening to hours of interviews on UA-cam, getting the behind-the-scenes (back story) on the movie, hearing many more of his stories and learning that organizations that help with the aftercare is key in the healing process.
Love the review, Matt. As a dad, I swear someone started cutting onions next to me when you were describing the first time you met your daughter. What a precious moment.
I saw the movie and it was incredible, some tough moments but definitely a MUST SEE!!! Everyone clapped at the end. It opened my eyes in so many ways. I knew without a doubt that goodness and good people ARE out there and thank God for that! We need to stand up and share this, let it be known we can't look away from this issue. These are our children. When you see it, you can't help but put yourself in the shoes of these kids, parents, Tim Ballard, and his wife’s shoes... My goodness. Get a ticket, they are even giving them out for free with a pay-it-forward system that's so incredible. Thank God for the brave lightworkers! A MUST-SEE! God’s children are not for sale. God bless everyone who helped get this movie out to the masses.
As a father, this is a topic that is painfully difficult to confront, and I appreciate the filmmakers courage in shining a light into the dark corners where this evil thrives. It doesn't surprise me that the ongoing culture war fervor has driven substantial numbers to see this movie, so I pray that this movie doesn't become another polarizing political axis where we all dutifully gather at each end and yell at each other. It's hard for someone on the progressive side like me to tune out the shouty voices wearing QAnon hats, but hopefully we all finally take a serious look at this evil and decide on some effective means to push back against it.
When this movie was being made, QNon wasn’t even created. This movie is about evils that have been going on for centuries. Help bring this to light and stop this evil which is rapidly spreading & destroying the lives of our children.
This is because the father, son, holy spirit, says enough is enough the mighty God of Jacob is in control God bless all the that involves God bless them all my love and prayers are with you all🤗🙏🙏🙏🌻💓🌻🌹🌹🌹💝💝💝
As a conservative I agree we need to put our shouting matches aside and come together and let fighting together for the children and against the evils in this world unite us as one again.
@@patrickbonterre3267 As long as you're following James 2:14-18 "What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works." I'll agree with you. Do the work to stop suffering, and I'll gladly stand by you. Speak of it, but DO nothing, and you shall be worse than those who do nothing, but also say nothing.
I saw the movie this week. The theatre was packed. Although I'd agree that it didn't end with as much catharsis and a sense of revenge and justice like one might want, I still found the movie hopeful and challenging. Out of interest, the theatre I was in broke out into applause at the end of the movie and again after the special message, by Jim, at the end.
I went with my family to see it French subtitles….was blown away and now on a mission to invite people to pay for their theatre tickets for “sound of freedom “. I invite everyone to at least see the movie 🎥 and suggest it to their friends and family
This movie is more for awareness and a call to action than it is for entertainment. It is to shake everyone up and bring all of us together to do something. I feel like I have been picked up and shaken by the scruff of the neck and set back down. This movie is an attention getter.
My thing going into seeing this movie is like you say "how can they possibly make this with child actors".. I was concerned. Yet they were able to do it and protect the child actors as well. Great. I think the kids only were aware about "trafficking" and "abuse" in general and not exposed to the details. So I was happy with that and amazed that they could pull that off and make a compelling movie on this subject. I think the message at the end is perfect. You can only win by having exposure to this evil. Everyone is going to go away in a few years will forget the movie. The choice is a few people contributing money ONCE. Or a MASS of people having exposure to this and though they forget the movie in time, they will change their minds long term or permanently about trafficking. It is the same as give a FISH once or teach many people about the FISH. They will know about the FISH for the rest of their lives and we need people to get the word out. More people mean more will be done. Money is nothing but People are where work is done. We have to understand the difference between MONEY and PEOPLE.
The film and it's struggles has been a miracle, pretty much since day one. From a large portion of investors pulling out just days before filming, to those that actually were supposed to be security for the film been approached by traffickers thinking they were just part of the film crew and the guys taking them down, while they were working on the film in Colombia where they were filming on location. To the issues with distribution. It is the little film that could and those that made it refused to give up on it. Taking nearly 5 years since completion to get it on the big screen.
So, for years ive been aware of the issues this movie brought up. I support a ministry called Kaleb House. They go knock down doors and rescue those in need. But they dont stop there like so many do. They focus on what happens next. Rehabilitating those rescued. In a "train them up in the way they should go" way. TJ Brooks is the founder. Also known as Bear Independent here on YT. I would appreciate if anyone interested in doing some good, at least looking into them. And perhaps supporting their mission of "rescue and rehabilitation of victims of child sex trafficking"
The conversion scene in the movie mirrors the conversion of John Newton, the former captain of slave ships who had a conversion experience and wrote Amazing Grace. He lived out the rest of his life in humility and penance and was instrumental along with William Wilberforce in the abolition of slavery in the British Empire.
Thank you, Matt! Thank you for being so unvarnished and for resisting that worn out 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦-𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘴-𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴-𝘮𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘦-𝘴𝘰-𝘺𝘰𝘶-𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘵-𝘵𝘰𝘰 junior high school mentality. Christians are called to live in unity and not be clones of one another (I Corinthians 12:12-27). You are such a wonderful example of godly behavior and intelligence. I appreciate what you have to say.
That’s a good point, but as a person who likes this movie, I’ll tell you: since everyone loves this movie you should too. I’m just kidding. Have a blessed day lol.
I also felt sad that there wasn’t some sort of solution other than sharing the video. I thought about it and realized we can’t do much about the evils done in secret because they will always find a way to do their fathers work (the devil). What we CAN do is educate parents globally about child safety and maybe even find global solutions for getting technology out to these places where children can maybe have some sort of tracking device on them or something to that degree. Towards the beginning of the video there was actual footage of kids being kidnapped and it seemed like every time they were kids playing on the streets without adult supervision. So that to me seems like the approach to take, educate the parents.
I was really moved by Sound of Freedom. It impacted me and I'm still thinking about it. I 100% recommend. Watch it in theaters too for the big screen and sorround sound
Matt, when you speak, I listen because you are a man of incredible balance. I am used to hearing you speak about faith, scripture and the diverse ecclesiology Christian community. Your balanced approach to religious matters was manifest in your review of Sound of Freedom. If the film had a strong ideological message from either side, it would have lessened its impact. As you say, it needs to take us to a next step of personal involvement and, if telling your friends to see this movie too, is all they gave then they missed the mark. Here is the most powerful moment of your review: when you spoke of the birth of your daughter it was a moment of true anamnesis. Like the Jews celebrating Passover or Catholics celebrating Eucharist, you weren't speaking of a moment in time that happened long ago, in the telling you were in that moment. It is written all over your face; you were present at the birth of your daughter in the recounting of that moment. Go back and look at it again. Sheet beauty. thanks for all you do.
I haven't seen the movie yet, so I don't have any thoughts on it to contribute. But I just wanted to say, Matt, that I'm listening to your Matthew series for the second time through and this morning I listened to episode 406 where you describe meeting your oldest daughter for the first time and how you immediately wanted to show her the world. Then not six hours later, I watch this video and hear you tell the same story again! Your squishy dad-heart makes me smile every time! 😊 And thank you for sharing your thoughts on a very hard topic.
im not right wing or christian but i loved this movie (well maybe love is the wrong word but, you know what i mean) and im utterly baffled by the reaction to this film from mainstream media. maybe the actor believes in some conspiracy theory, but so what? tom cruise is a scientologist and we still love mission impossible! the film itself never felt preachy or like it was trying to convert me, the message of the film was plain and simple, and i think everyone agrees with.
I always appreciate hearing you talk about your kids. You have a way with words that describes my own soft dad heart toward my kids, and especially that unlocking of a level of love that I didn't even know was possibly the first time I held my daughter. I'm glad that more dad's seem to be more open to expressing their emotions about their kids and showing love towards them.
The movies gives no emotional break because it telling the story of those children who get no emotional break from their abusers. I think the movie did an excellent job of making the audience feel those emotions
Peace be with you brother! Thank you for your thoughts. You are right, people want know how they can help. This sure lit a fire under me! And, two days ago, I got an email from somebody in my community, inviting people to go with her to be present at a child trafficker trial to send a message that we will no longer accept the light sentences given. God bless!
What youre describing, on an emotional level, is how i have and do feel about the Todd Agnew song "Peace On Earth". Would recommend it as the close to it harkens to this very issue of "how can there be so much evil"
I guess my main problem with the movie is that all the movie does at the end with the special message is to get people to pay for others to see the movie, which in turn just means money for the movie studio. I wish they offered that AND maybe an additional QR code or links to actual sex trafficking NGOs where you could donate to them directly and find out how you can actually support them instead of just “being aware”
Considering that the movie is a true story and that Tim Ballard founded Operation Underground Railroad, it’s pretty darn easy for people to figure out how to support anti-trafficking if they want to.
@@queenofgreen83 Except that Operation Underground Railroad's real-life tactics include: -not screening their employees but merely asking them to quit if an employee realizes they're attracted to children (honor system's really gonna keep creeps out?) -hiring a "psychic" to find children -posing as medical intervention for indigenous peoples -asking pimps for children, thereby increasing the demand for children. -merely calling the cops and walking away, no follow through. As a preschool teacher, I find all that to be disgustingly irresponsible. O.U.R. and the makers of this film are simply cashing in on people's sincere love of children.
@@queenofgreen83you’re giving too much credit to the average viewer that they’ll want to do research outside of just watching the movie, it’s why it should’ve included more info and not just a “buy tickets” QR code
I kinda like how it didn’t do the normal movie tropes but just did it’s own thing. It’s not a perfect film and has some pacing issues but the message is strong.
You point out that there is no major triumphant victory by the hero hero over the larger group of bad guys still operating out in the world, which I believe was a deliberate choice in the sense that seeing that this story is relatively based on true events, the viewer is left with two conclusions when they walk out of the theater: 1. This problem is broad and entrenched all throughout the globe 2. It is still going on to this day all around me By not including a huge cathartic payoff, the view is left desiring a greater payoff, but the greatest payoff is not to be realized on screen, it's to be realized in our own communities all over the world actively in an ongoing manner. By being left in a stating of desiring more closure, more viewers will be prompted to become more involved and aware than just another 'Taken' style movie could ever hope to deliver. And thank you for including links for others to become more involved. The only way this problem can ever really be dealt with is by more involvement from more and more people.
Some facts. 90% of child sexual abuse is from either a family member, or someone close to the family. Near 90% of the perpetrators are male (fathers and brothers). Child trafficking is a problem, but obviously the much larger problem is the abuse that happens within the family.
@@JV7486 The production has some people who are conspiracy adjacent. That gets simplified to Qananon movie because clicks make money. It also allows the studio to go for "anti-mainstream media" marketing. Both the studio and the "main stream" profit from the controversy.
@@collin6691 The film shows truth, child trafficking is real, those people are taking action, so what would you do or are doing that is better about the problem?
@@2411509igwt Im trying to be generous. 1) I don't really know the colour of their hearts just the limited public information, so I'm being generous and 2) if I said they were "total conspiracy nutsos" youd also be complaining, so there is no phrasing that I can use to be fair and make everyone happy. So Ill stick with my understated form and assume the creators arent total lunatics.
The stories of theatres trying to stop people from watching a movie are literally made up. If a theatre didn't want people to see a movie they would not show the movie. The idea that a theatre would have a showing of a movie and then try to stop people from watching it makes zero sense. Theatres want to make money. Popular movies (like Sound of Freedom) make money. Stopping people from seeing a movie means they have an empty theatre which is making them no money.
Matt, I think a follow-up for this, on why it’s been so maligned… might be in order. That’s what has been so confusing to me. Is it just because it’s guilt by association? Is it projection? Is it secondary themes that are being used for outright dismissal? I haven’t seen much of the press, but it doesn’t seem to have the tone of ‘There are some right leaning elements here, but the message of this film needs to be taken to heart. Go see it.’ Curious how and what could have been done different, to not have garnered such a visceral response from the critics.
I'm having similar thoughts. They could have said at least said "...has been associated with [put in your favorite conspiracy theory] ,but the film does address a serious issue that needs to be talked about" - and then they talk to a person from the government who rescues kids or something. None of them are doing this - why not?
I went to watch Sound of Freedom three times. The reason was that I couldn’t understand why these emotions were produced on me, in part, and also with the hope that by the third time I could be in a position of analysis rather than involved with the movie. You’re right Matt, is the fact that O am a parent, I received my little girl directly to my hands from her mother. That changed my world. I accepted the mission to be a father bringing her to school and read a book to her before sleep. Sound of Freedom woke me up to a danger. The girl in the movie could be my daughter, the desperate father that got crazy searching for them, could be me. The movie connected to us as a present reality where we can’t sleep and relax. Every single kid out there living as slave is our children. Why is this movie successful you ask? Is because deals with the most precious and our only real reason to exist, our children. God’s children are not for sale!
There are only a small handful of reactions to this movie. You either feel sick, nervous, or angry. If you don’t feel anything you either deal with terrible situations on a regular basis or you might be on the wrong side of the aisle so to speak.
Just a simple comment I was driving, going on errands, slowly passed a home with two little ones playing in their driveway, I actually was fearful for them. I thought, oh my gosh, an adult needs to be out there with them, someone could kidnap them.....this was in a city. And, I don't think I was overreacting. We have to get real about the world we live in....take precautions, parents. That short reaction was a result of seeing the movie. 💖
This was a true story can you imagine what the children are going through & the adrenaline the men are having, and some of the film was actually footage of what happened. The children they saved are going to come out and tell their stories.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. It is good to see this movie getting attention. An evil that needs to be brought into the light and evil that we need to be able to look in the face. It really would have been good to see some sort of point towards organizations and group to get connected with.
Comment #3 to feed the great algorithm in the sky. I was really impressed with the story telling. This is very much an "older" style of story. Often the movie is an exercise in saying more with less. Some of the most poignant scenes treats the audience as intelligent and capable of coming to the correct conclusion on their own. It leaves the scene hanging where you don't get a big graphic reveal but instead the weight and tension is allowed to just hang for a moment as the audience is allowed to fully realize what is happening on their own.
@@dimesonhiseyes9134 It was on UA-cam. 27 minutes long, and mostly very favorable. His mystery guest (literally a mystery guest!) didn't seem to like it quite as much, but he also said a lot of nice things about it. Of course I can't find it right now, but it was UA-cam. I hope you can find it.
Matt, your point on the conclusion is SPOT ON with my thinking. Sure, it is nice to tell others about the movie. But, it would have been better to offer names of organizations or something that would enable to viewer to actually do something than tell someone else to watch a movie. Thanks for pointing that out and for providing a resource on this page. Cheers!
From what I heard, Harrison Ford is struggling with those action scenes. Whereas Jim Caviezel, who is half his age, is seen jogging without running out of breath! Thank God for this film that is exposing the horrors of child trafficking around the world!
Matt, you are a great movie reviewer. I hope that in the future you'll consider reviewing other faith-based films - there are so many of them available for praise and for critique ... from religious horror like The Exorcist and the recent Nefarious to oldies like The Song of Bernadette, films about Luther and the Reformation, "life of Christ" movies, etc., etc. You are, above all, an objective and sensitive viewer of movies and it would be wonderful to see your critical skills directed to more faith-based movies! :)
Hi Matt. This is my first time to see your UA-cam channel. I just wanted to let you know that after having watched quite a number of interviews with the actor, Tim, Ballard, and the Director, I was made to understand that the children actors were never given any clue as to what the movie was about. I found that interesting, and I hope that is the case.
Proud of Jim Caviezel he is a fellow Catholic and he said God strongly called him to acting. I can see why 🙏🏼🕊️✝️🕯️💕 and I think this film did well is because good conquers evil like Jesus does in the Bible he conquers death and sin. It’s a story as far back as Jesus and it works really well for a reason 🙏🏼💕
In doing my own vetting of The Exodus Road, there's a significant number of complaints (mostly ex-employees) who detail disturbing info about the organization. Have you, Matt, had any personal experience with this organization to where you can vouch for them?
I think I'm unsure why this has become a Christian issue versus a worldwide issue, and why this is politicized and what the average citizen is supposed to do about it.
Child-friendly drag shows and Minor Attracted Persons being 2 increasingly accepted secular talking points, as just 2 examples off the top of my head, should give you that answer.
Yes but at the same time human trafficking and women's rights is a big deal on both sides. As well as uncovering what's going on in Hollywood, as well as what's going on in the Catholic church. So I'm not quite sure why it's such a specifically Evangelical narrative. Pedophilia is not something that I've heard either side and courage (I won't use the term "minor - attracted. We need to call that what it is!)
It was put out by the same folks who did the series chosen. It wasn’t made by them, but they bought and put it out. There is a huge swathe of people who oppose Jim Caviezel in Hollywood, probably because of his devotion, and many won’t even work with him because of it. Independent films, shows, and media have a tendency to get either ignored or slandered in the mainstream because they are going against the norm. Add in an Actor who has been blackballed in Hollywood, and you have a perfect combination to demonize it in all forms of media owned by the companies who own the Hollywood. I know how that can sound, and I’m not talking about a group of people, I’m talking about companies such as vanguard and Blackrock, who own stock in just about everything.
@@RubeeRoja If it wasnt produced by the people it was produced by I doubt this meta-narrative would have happened. Like if Ashton Kutchner made it no one would blink an eye. Although I think the studio sort of wants this controversy: the ol "go see the movie the main stream media doesnt want you to see" shtick really moves american conservatives to spend money.
@@andrewrichards312 One of these is not like the other.... Also like what main stream lefties that arent anons on twitter with 12 follows are trying to normalize minor attracted persons?
What an odd response. This isn't entertainment, Matt...and yet it is entertaining. It wasn't depressing drudgery as it could have been, voyeuristic or seedy, but had soul and depth of character. There were lighthearted breaks like the passion where the audience could breathe. It was inspirational...ONE MAN can make a difference! Ballard is a hero. No, the pacing was not perfect. But the men whocoukd have made it so are too cowardly or complicit to make such a movie.
I don't think they made a mistake by delivering "diminishing returns" as you say. I think that was the actual point. I think the purpose was to brow beat us. Sometimes that's the only way you can get the point across. And this is a very serious point. The way it was shot, even though the 2 kids were rescued you witnessed what happen to them, so you walk away from this KNOWING this is what's happening out there and it leaves you with such an unease. I believe that is the film's intent.
Negative press by the drive by media claiming it is dangerous is what intrigued me to watch it. Keep up the opposition and more will see it for themselves.
I think, actually, it did an excellent job telling a real story while conforming to proper storytelling techniques and tropes. This may well be the most important film of our lifetime.
I understand your point about the closing message not providing more ideas for people to take action, but at this stage, we still have people who are in complete denial over this issue. We still have people who don't know the US border is open, that anyone - ANYONE - can go to the border and claim a kid or twelve right now, etc. As you saw from the insane reviews from the mainstream media, this is still a right versus left issue. People have to get educated and have this put it in their faces before they take action. Some will buy movie tickets, some will send money to organizations, some will start keeping their eyes open, others will go to their school boards and get explicitly sexual books taken out of grammar and middle schools. Then you'll have a few that will go adopt children or participate in sting operations. But we have to get out of denial first. That's what this movie does.
My wife and I saw it on the 4th, too. I agree with you! Everyone needs to see it. Then we need to demand action!! Let me ask you this, when the final sting was set up on an island, did Epstein’s Island come to mind? It was talked about in the theater around us.
Jim is a product of Mount Vernon Wa. We are proud of him. He did go to Colunbia to make this movie. They rescued 200 children while making this movie, which made it a success before it ever saw the light of day. This is a chance to fight this with our money. We know what to do. One dollar from everyone who sees this film will make a big difference. We are not stupid. It's a God thing sent to people who are angry. One last thing is that the acting can't carry a movie, nether can the script; but somehow when the two come together, magic happens and the rest will be history.
SOUND transcends country barriers and time : it addresses the same issues as far as Viet-Nam, Thailand and Cambodia . . . It also transcends religions and faiths, just go talk to the Catholic Priests and Buddhist Monks who go rescue these children across Viet-Nam's borders.
Sir the movie was filmed on the US border and in Columbia where it actually happened. And because Jim's wife was apprehensive about Jim going to Columbia 30 former seals went to keep Jim safe, but without the producers knowledge 1/2 of them ended up doing a rescue mission with Tim and 200 children were rescued while the movie was being filmed.
Would be interesting to have a follow-up video discussing the issues with Ballard and the organization... The message of the movie was necessary but the messenger really hurts our witness!!
Given how much hate the movie has received from certain circles I think it was best not to have resources listed as those organizations would then have targets on their backs by the media. On top of that it would take a tremendous amount of resources to investigate any such organizations to ensure they are worth promoting since they would be under insane amounts of scrutiny. Plus if you miss an organization for one reason or another (especially a small one) you might inadvertently take potential donors from that organization and funnel them into bigger organizations that you did mention. Plus some people will want to support faith based organizations and others will want to support more secular organizations.
@@TGuard00014are you kidding me? I don't think Bill Gates, The Clinton's, Klaus Schwabb, the epsteins and the mexican cartels are too concerned with having a target on their backs!😂😮 do your research on its biggest backers and ask yourself why they'd do that? Smokescreen, maybe? It's been finished for 5 years. Whyd it get sold to Disney in the first place when we all know what that company stands for now?? Seriously, don't be so easily fooled by what's on the surface. The ole "the hand is quicker than the eye" trick...😮
I kinda agree with the false summit premise. I think they should have set up the girl not getting rescued a little earlier. Something to build "frustration" instead of an emotional let down. I get what they were going for and it kinda worked but I think that one aspect fell a little short.
In Isaiah the Lord asks, ““Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” Isaiah’s response was to volunteer for service: “Here am I; send me” . In this case Tim Ballard is Isaiah and that is why the movie succeeded.
I think it’s successful because people want to support the message. My theatre was packed I was kinda surprised people really will support something they feel needs the support. And how could you not with something like this. Angel studios wanted to raise 2 million dollars for 2 million trafficked kids and now they raised 100 million. That’s the power of the people this film is not perfect not even close but the message is strong. Gods Children Are Not For Sale.
I haven't seen the movie yet just because of how things lined up with other commitments I had. I'm finally going to see it this week. I have been following Tim Ballard and O.U.R. for years. They are doing God's work. I hope that people will remember what they learn and feel from watching this movie.
Jim Caviezel did say more about what we can do I believe he mentioned Tim Ballard’s organizations and he talked about being a light in the darkness I thought his speech was not to bad at all 😊🙏🏼🕯️
Matt, thank you for your honest opinions on the film. I was not all that interested in seeing it before, but between what I have heard from my own dad and you thoughts, I am now going to plan to see it. I’m curious, what did you think about Nefarious? I did not realize it was a faith-based film when i was invited to it, but found it quite intriguing. I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on it.

for people who watched this Film. .& CAN'T FEEL PAIN,etc ..you have to talk to a psychiatrist & ask why you can't feel anything....... the beginning of the film is terrifying & sad😢😢😢😢
I think the next step is for those who see it to donate to Tim Ballard's non profit Underground Railroad. A lot of us don't know the ones that are doing this. But we can donate to the people who are reducing these kids.
Wrong it's actually because people are encouraged to donate to buy free tickets for others many of which will never be used it's doing well because people like you want it to and it will quickly lose stream because it's growth isnt organic
I think it's worth noting that a huge section of Sound of Freedom's box office numbers are probably skewed; Angel Studios' release strategy was to urge people to buy up entire theaters so that they could give tickets away for free. This has led to some conspiracy theorists who have seen "sold out" theaters on their AMC app and then gone to the theater to find that it's nearly empty. I've got no doubt that some people are seeing it, but the huge numbers may not be quite what they seem.
That may be true but at the same time it did not have a quarter of the budget to make than Indiana Jones did, only half the number of theatres that Indiana Jones was seen in and not even a quarter of the budget for Advertising that Indiana Jones had. So I disagree with your reasoning.
@@SxypenguinI didn't see anything about Disney doing that. This movie has a QR code at the end of it so that you can buy tickets for other people. It also has a website get free tickets. It's cool that people are being supportive but if I don't know about getting the free tickets I go to the movie and it's sold out I'm not going to be able to watch it because the tickets are sold to empty seats
Other film companies have done similar things, including Disney. The difference is when other companies do it, THEY buy the tickets as some kind of nonprofit thing for some special recipient group. But in this movie, real people in the audience are buying those tickets for other audience members.
It’s also succeeding because of enormous support from the Latino community. Reportedly, 30% of audiences are Latino. It’s got a majority Latino cast, as well as Director and Producer. Perhaps also, that community knows what is going on in their home countries.
The theater was full of Latinos when we watched it 👍
This movie touch every demographic thaf We're all god children and we're no longer for sale
No Latinos at the movie theater I went to in Austin Tx. I am part Latino part Italian . The subject crosses all ethnicities, religion and social class . Happening everywhere unfortunately
Yes we know how it is
I seen none my time at the movies maybe it's ur community more Latinos? 🤣🤣
Saw the movie, and having investigated crimes against children, Jim Caviezel nailed the emotions those agents and detectives go through.
YES! WELL SAID!

Yep. They are now woke.
I saw "Sound of Freedom" with my wife and it was SO powerful!!!! I am spreading the word about this movie!!!

How were they able to sneak onions, a cutting board, and a knife into the theatre past the guards? Your story is dubious 😂
Ninjas?
Same in my theater everyone clapped at the end. It was so powerful 🙏🏼🕊️🕯️
This film is succeeding because it’s waking people up, and people deep down WANT to wake up.
Those who have been asleep should now be woke.

I saw the movie this week. The theatre was packed. Although I'd agree that it didn't end with as much catharsis and a sense of revenge and justice like one might want, I still found the movie hopeful and challenging. Out of interest, the theatre I was in broke out into applause at the end of the movie and again after the special message, by Jim, at the end.
I liked the actors message at the end of the film.
I saw it on July 4th and our theatre was almost full and applauded, also😊
Yes my theater too 👏🏼✝️🕯️🕊️🥰
I went with my family to see it French subtitles….was blown away and now on a mission to invite people to pay for their theatre tickets for “sound of freedom “.
We ALL Feel how Tim Ballard felt during his rescue operation, it’s Powerful and you really will remain in your mind for sometime
That real terrifying/unbelievable part is when they showed the live body and security cams from the actual events that took place.
Yeah I figured they took some creative license for that part. Nope.
This is what Matt meant when he said giving people resources to work with.
@gaelonhays1712 Yes. I wanted to leave a link, but YT is weird with those and deletes them.

The conversion scene in the movie mirrors the conversion of John Newton, the former captain of slave ships who had a conversion experience and wrote Amazing Grace. That’s a good point, but as a person who likes this movie, I’ll tell you: since everyone loves this movie you should too. I’m just kidding. Have a blessed day lol.
Thank you for covering this very important film. It’s message needs to be seen and heard by everyone.
I saw it in the theatre to support the message. By the way the theatre I went to was sold out I was kinda surprised.
And thank you for sharing your thoughts on a very hard topic.
im not right wing or christian but i loved this movie (well maybe love is the wrong word but, you know what i mean) and im utterly baffled by the reaction to this film from mainstream media. maybe the actor believes in some conspiracy theory, but so what? tom cruise is a scientologist and we still love mission impossible! the film itself never felt preachy or like it was trying to convert me, the message of the film was plain and simple, and i think everyone agrees with.
Same here! Men have a wide range of emotions, just like women, and I'm so glad that that is becoming normalized.
God bless!
EVERYONE SHOULD SEE THIS MOVIE!
IF YOUR NOT ON THE RIGHT SIDE TO SAVE CHILDREN THEN I KNOW WHERE YOU STAND.
So?
If that's telling what their motives are, it's not speaking well about their research abilities.
Considering that the movie is a true story and that Tim Ballard founded Operation Underground Railroad, it’s pretty darn easy for people to figure out how to support anti-trafficking if they want to.
@@queenofgreen83 Except that Operation Underground Railroad's real-life tactics include:
-not screening their employees but merely asking them to quit if an employee realizes they're attracted to children (honor system's really gonna keep creeps out?)
-hiring a "psychic" to find children
-posing as medical intervention for indigenous peoples
-asking pimps for children, thereby increasing the demand for children.
Its a fantastic movie and should be seen by everyone, except young children. It's such a powerful movie !
I kinda like how it didn’t do the normal movie tropes but just did it’s own thing. It’s not a perfect film and has some pacing issues but the message is strong.
You point out that there is no major triumphant victory by the hero hero over the larger group of bad guys still operating out in the world, which I believe was a deliberate choice in the sense that seeing that this story is relatively based on true events, the viewer is left with two conclusions when they walk out of the theater:
1. This problem is broad and entrenched all throughout the globe
2. It is still going on to this day all around me
By not including a huge cathartic payoff, the view is left desiring a greater payoff, but the greatest payoff is not to be realized on screen, it's to be realized in our own communities all over the world actively in an ongoing manner.
Really? You don't mention the whole "the movie they don't want you to see" marketing scheme?
Marketing scheme? I've seen alot of media calling this a Qanon movie.

It's a trip how many theaters are trying to disrupt people from watching it. It's very telling why.
Q-Insane going, a few outsiders went, and tons of empty seats bought by Republicon Party.
Go see it.’
Curious how and what could have been done different, to not have garnered such a visceral response from the critics.
Jim cavezal is probably the most underrated great actor in Hollywood
There are only a small handful of reactions to this movie. You either feel sick, nervous, or angry. If you don’t feel anything you either deal with terrible situations on a regular basis or you might be on the wrong side of the aisle so to speak.
I felt sad and surprised I did not know this was a big problem around the world
Just a simple comment I was driving, going on errands, slowly passed a home with two little ones playing in their driveway, I actually was fearful for them.
Was that excerpted from the Adam Savage review?
@@markcornelius8802 I was not aware that Adam Savage did a review. Interesting was it on his UA-cam channel or some sort of podcast or what?

Matt, your point on the conclusion is SPOT ON with my thinking. Sure, it is nice to tell others about the movie. But, it would have been better to offer names of organizations or something that would enable to viewer to actually do something than tell someone else to watch a movie. Thanks for pointing that out and for providing a resource on this page. Cheers!

It's succeeding because it portrays the reality. The days of the "fantasy" are gone. People are more cautious in choosing fantasy to reality.
I think I was saying the same thing. If that didn't come through clearly, I apologize, and I agree with you.
@@MattWhitmanTMBH Oh no need to apologize. Same conclusion, just different ways of getting there. I love your channel and this video.

The Lord is building it: nothing can stop it.
I really hope Sound Of Freedom comes to the UK, I would love to see it.
Thank you, Matt! Always appreciate your balanced perspective on things :)
I think, actually, it did an excellent job telling a real story while conforming to proper storytelling techniques and tropes. This may well be the most important film of our lifetime.
Elizabeth Smart is one of the most credible resources you will find about Tim . She and her father once were working with Tim in the OUR.

Saw this on the 4th of July. It’s an incredible film that everyone needs to see.
My wife and I saw it on the 4th, too. I agree with you! Everyone needs to see it. Then we need to demand action!! Let me ask you this, when the final sting was set up on an island, did Epstein’s Island come to mind? It was talked about in the theater around us.
I saw it yesterday. The weeping in the theater was moving.
I'm not sure I know which issues you're referring to...?
What’s so bad about Tim Ballard?
Very good, articulate presentation. Thanks!
Yes! Bingo!!! List of resources! That is what I was looking for and left me puzzled wondering how telling the story is going to change anything.
If people are moved in their heart they are going to start doing research & taking action.
I saw this movie 3 times is was very powerful everyone should go and see this movie wake up America
I kinda agree with the false summit premise. I think they should have set up the girl not getting rescued a little earlier. Something to build "frustration" instead of an emotional let down. I get what they were going for and it kinda worked but I think that one aspect fell a little short.
If you have trouble SAYING it, imagine how the victims feel LIVING it!
In Isaiah the Lord asks, ““Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” Isaiah’s response was to volunteer for service: “Here am I; send me” . In this case Tim Ballard is Isaiah and that is why the movie succeeded.
Honest film with a honest story. No used as a vehicle for woke BS.
This movie is a wake up call! It scares parents into watching thier children closely.
Thanks for your comments!!
Your point on the ending message is dead on. I felt the same way.
I think you summed up my thoughts well. Well done.

Well,,, thank you so much for your discouraging message. I guess I will ignore my surroundings..
They actually filmed on the locations where it happened.
for people who watched this
Film. .& CAN'T FEEL PAIN,etc
..you have to talk to a
psychiatrist & ask why
you can't feel anything.......
the beginning of the film
is terrifying & sad😢😢😢😢
I think the next step is for those who see it to donate to Tim Ballard's non profit Underground Railroad. A lot of us don't know the ones that are doing this. But we can donate to the people who are reducing these kids.
It's succeeding because God willed for it to be filmed. Enormous prayer, sacrifice, and discernment is driving this. God wills an end to the darkness.
Wrong it's actually because people are encouraged to donate to buy free tickets for others many of which will never be used it's doing well because people like you want it to and it will quickly lose stream because it's growth isnt organic
Matt, your reaction was good enough. I will be back for more.
Good review. I'd love to hear your thoughts on "Nefarious." Lots of stuff to talk about in that one. JAT
But it DOES show support for the movie.
Disney did the same thing with the new Little Mermaid and had people buy tickets for the movie.
I was inspired to do what I can to make a difference in this huge issue. God's children are not for sale.
