In my latest video '2017 BMW 4 Series Coupe Review - 420D M Sport - a prehistoric dinosaur waiting to be extinct?' I comment on the recent controversy surrounding the diesel engine and discuss what the 4 Series is like to live with on a daily basis. Whilst, exploring what sort of budget you need to hop into one of these plush motors.
For the automotive video critics - I apologise for the poor audio in places. My bloody phone was interrupting the machine we use for audio. Lessons learnt and will not happen again.

The 420D is a great car! Very well refined with a brilliant combination of performance and economy. I do think the diesels have come a long way, and the torque is really practical. The 435D perfectly exemplifies this. Whether diesels are to exist in the long run is uncertain; but for now, it’s best to appreciate them.

If you buy a BMW always wait 4-5 years, the price drops like rock then levels out.

My issue is the N47 engine prior to 2016. Mine was a 2013 N47 in a mini and threw the timing chain on the motorway when I was doing 70mph. £4,000 later I got the car back.
2015 onwards b47 engine👍
Got mine with 4000 miles Bmw dealer giffnock glasgow 2014 .. love it …… esteril bloo …… use a/c regular just got topped up local garage £50 …brake pads warning didn’t show up …. Got new front discs and 4 pads 30000 miles £400, (too much) .... got replacement diamond cut wheels to local powder coating £50 per wheel …. BRILL … INVERCLYDE POWDER COATING….. get rid of locking nuts seized mcgard…. £16 Bmw for 4 new bolts…. great car. drive in sport mode. Ive got sunroof and HUD on windscreen…no cheap run flats !!!!!

420i has 184 bhp
420d has 190 bhp
3:20 thats not true in 2001 the e46 320d 150 hp did a 51 mpg real world fuel consumption, the 65 mpg on this is BS
