Prices went up, it's $23 now on Amazon... still a pretty good deal. I have warranty on my oven, but decided to do this fix myself rather than deal with contacting Costco, explaining the problem, troubleshooting it, then scheduling a tech to come out and waiting around for them all day.
ours glows and will light the burner tube after 30 seconds or less but after 60 seconds or so the amount of gas flow through the burner goes down significantly and it will flutter, turn on and off with a minimal flame. Can the igniter cause that problem as well? thanks.
Great video! With this failure, would you expect to smell gas? My oven isn't doing anything when I set it to bake or clean, there is no glow, but there is also no gas smell either. I thought the control board wasn't opening the gas valve, so I swapped it out (unfortunately) and that didn't change a thing. I imagine that somehow there is feedback to the control board to see if the igniter is hot before the valve opens, perhaps?
I found that the assumption was correct. The gas valve does not open unless the igniter glows for about 20-30 seconds. I assume it is raising a temperature that is measured or used, similar to a hot water tank, to induce voltage that opens the gas valve. So, you don't smell gas when the igniter doesn't work because the gas valve will never open. Simply replacing the ignitor fixes all.
I have had this problem twice now. Over time, the ignitor starts to break down and does not get hot enough. The ignitor is in series with the gas safety valve. As the ignitor heats up, it pulls more current. Once the current reaches 3.3 amps, the safety valve opens. Over time, the amount of current that your ignitor uses will go down to the point where it will not pull 3.3 amps and will not open the gas safety valve. This is what is happening to you. When this happens, you will not smell any gas. Replace the ignitor. You can find them on Amazon for about $25. The ignitor I needed was part # DG94-00520A.
I don't understand why when I want to use a part of my Samsung range and I turn the knob,it is all the ingniters that comes to life instead of just one that I turned the knob.
If you search for the part number you may find a vendor at substantially reduced price. It's the same in the U.S. There are several appliance parts places advertising $189 usd, reduced on sale for $144 usd, but they offer "free shipping." It's still only a $24 usd part. I don't know how these people stay in business, let alone sleep at night. If you can't find a comparably priced part for sale anywhere in Canada, you are hopefully near enough to rent a USPS post office box. Many of my Canadian friends do. The Fineview/Wellesley Island or Ogdensburg NY Post Offices are very accommodating to our northern neighbors. Hopefully you will find a less costly alternative near your home.

Thank you for the video sir. While it isn't for the model my family use, it has given us answers to some of the questions we've had.

Well just checked mine it glows but it ohms out at 360 and no beep from my meter. Well over the 90 threshold mentioned.
Mine glows but it took 55 minutes to pre heat to 400F
Then you are not putting out enough heat. Not an igniter problem.
It's a hole in the range bake burner
Does the gas have to be turned off or just the power?
Both for your safety.
Many thanks sir!
What about REPLACEMENT? The video says in the title 'replacement.' But you do not cover ANY of the disassembly or other steps to make the replacement.
Its not carbon, it's Silicon carbide..
$18.00! In Canada it's $170.00!!

These igniters don't even last a month junk
