My family thanks you immensely. It’s Christmas Eve and my wife and mother in law tried cooking lasagna only to get the Er08 message. After many searches, we found your video and I swapped out the oven igniter with the broiler, and it worked!! My mother in law literally said “you better write that man and thank him,” so that’s what I’m doing. Merry Christmas thanks to you!!!
Douglas! Thank you so much! That made my night! I'm so glad that worked for you! I wish you and your family the Merriest of Christmas's! Tell your Mother in Law "thank you" for me!
You are an absolute life saver two days before Thanksgiving. I have the exact Samsung over and it was taking 20-25 minutes to heat to 350. I was starting to hear the burner going on and off. I finally did a little online searching and found your video. I swapped out the two ignitors and the oven gets to 350 in 5 minutes and is working like a dream. You are a legend!!
Mike! Thank you so much for letting me know this helped you! This is definitely the week where we all need our ovens working properly! Great job fixing your oven and this comment absolutely made my day. Thanks for the support and I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!! Oh... and get yourself an extra igniter! Dude I friggin loved that show! My dad and I would watch it all of the time growing up. Hope things are going good man. I bet that river beer Adams is cranking right now. The creek next to my place is raging from all of this rain.
Dude, thank you very much for this video. My wife and I just moved into this "newer" house only to find that the oven wasn't working. I youtubed this video, and you guided me through the entire process. Oven is working again, and momma is a happy camper. You are not just putting out good content, but you are saving marriages one click at a time. Thank you!
Isaiah! This is absolutely an awesome comment and it seriously made my day! Thank you thank you so much! I’m glad it helped and you’re welcome for the marriage guidance! Hahahaha. Thanks again for the comment and support. It means a lot to me :)
Video did the trick for my Samsung oven E08 error. Bought the part on Amazon for about $38 and swapped it out. Walking around the house like a hero. Thanks!!!

Hahahaha Mike! That's the spirit! Weekend repair jobs for sure deserve PJ's :) Seriously though, thank you for the comment and letting me know that this worked for you. I'm glad I was able to help you fix your oven! I hope the rest of your weekend goes well :)
This was an absolutely fantastic video - so easy to follow! It was extremely helpful in removing the broiler igniter and and main oven igniter. That was when I discovered that the Samsung model that I own uses different igniters for the broiler and the main oven 😕. So now I have to wait for the part to arrive. But at least I know how to install it!
Laurie! Thank you for the comment! It's a bummer that your igniters are different but I'm glad you found the right ones and are able to install them when they come in. It's always a good thing to buy an extra one because these will inevitably fail when least expected. Thank you again! You're comment made my day :)
@@StoneyCreekSparkchaser Update! I successfully installed the new igniter in my oven. Then when I went to reinstall the broiler igniter (which I had just left out because why move the stove around more than I need to?) I discovered the glow bar had completely shattered in the baggie I'd stored it in 🤦♀. Oh well, back to the parts store for another igniter! I had no idea the glow bars were so fragile! At least I now have an oven LOL!
Awesome! And thanks for the update! What a bummer about the broiler igniter but now you know exactly what to do to get it back to work. Thank you again and great job! You fixed the day!
Thanks Rich! I know it’ll help someone out there :) good seeing you again and I hope things are going well. My apologies for the lack of content lately… new job, other priorities and as usual, life tends to get in the way. I hope you have a very Merry Christmas this year!

Wanted to thank you so much. My fault in the beginning for not realizing that the ovens were slightly different. The igniters were not exactly the same once I took the top one out and reach the bottom one, but, just being able to order the right one and install it myself thanks to your video. Saved me a bunch AND days without an oven. Through Amazon, the igniter was here in one day. If anyone needs to be able to find the correct one all I did was scan the bar code on the oven through the Amazon site and it told me all the parts that I would need.

Great video! Glad I came across it. Like someone else said, you made it quick and easy to do a diagnostic by switching ignighters, and voila! Proven bad lower ignighter. Now just awaiting a replacement part. Thanks!
Oh, the one thing I might have added is door removal, which is very simple, and makes this go a lot faster (plus easier to clean the oven while you're at it.
Awesome Gregory!!! I’m super glad this helped and got you fixed. As for your door idea… you know, that’s funny you said that. I was going to take my door off and show it. Good job! Should of ordered 2 new igniters while you were at it. Never know when you want to use that broiler. That countertop reminds me of making guacamole...and Yeti...such a good boy!
Good looking out. The replacement for my model was 170 dollars. Forget that. Note for anyone with the NX60 models, the old igniter was glowing, but weakly. Theres a temp sensor that won’t let gas flow if the igniter does not get to temp. Might be the same on other models idk.
Thanks Tater! Good luck and I appreciate the support! Remember, don’t forget to order a new one and slap it in there :) I always have one on hand now just in case. Cheers Mate!

@StoneyCreekSparkchaser just my stupid jokes 🤪 Doing pretty good brother! Understand....was working mad hours at the factory before I couldn't do it no more. My breathing has been good since then. Take care brother 🤙
Thanks for the video. It's helping me troubleshoot. In the begining you show how the igniter glows, but doesn't ignite. My oven doesn't even glow. There is gas to the oven because the broiler and burners work. Is it still the igniter or something else?
Hey there my friend! I hope you are doing well and thanks for the comment. As for an answer, your issue could be. Multitude of problems, but since the igniter is so easy to change, I'd do that just to get it off the list incase it's something else. Having said that. The igniter is completely bad wouldn't even glow, so in your case the igniter can be bad. I hope this helps and good luck. It's really easy to change and I know you can do it my friend :)
I am going to attempt to change the bottom of mine but I'm a bit confused because when I hit bake, the top lights up but in his video broil makes the top ignite. Very helpful video though! Thank you!
Hey Tabby Kat! Thanks for commenting. As for your dilemma… hmm.. I wonder if I missed something? I’m not a Samsung specialist or any oven specialist to say the least. I always thought the broil just made the top igniter come on because a broiler heats the top, maybe I’m wrong. Shoot. I’m pretty sure though (at least for my oven) bake makes my bottom come on and broil makes the top come on. Help me make this make sense 🤣🤣🤣 Super appreciate you :)
Thanks for this video. My only problem is that I’ve got one screw that’s stripped. I started this process yesterday but can’t finish cause I can’t figure out how to get that screw out. On your video it’s the one at 10:25. I tried duck tape, rubber band trick that I’ve found on other videos. So frustrating. If you have any pointers I’d appreciate it
Jennifer! I feel your pain! And I'm so sorry this has happened :(. I've had to deal with stuck screws in the past and understand how crappy it is. There are some other ways to get it out. Let me try and explain. If you have a set of Vice Grips or some pliers, then you can grab the "head" of the screw and try turning it loose a little at a time. The key is to have good pressure on the head and rotate a little each time, then reset. Eventually it will loosen enough where a Philips screwdriver could handle the rest. Another way is to use cold spray. If you have some keyboard cleaner around (basically a can of air). This can be used to spray the screw top. As the screw gets very cold, it will contract, allowing you to loosen it. I know it sounds silly, but this has worked for me in the past. You can also get some oil that's a penetrant, but you most likely won't have this at the house. They make oil in a spray can that helps loosen stuck bolts. You simply spray it on, walk away and then come back a little while later and you can loosen the screw because the oil is so thin that it works its way down the screw. I'm trying to think of some other ways, but honestly, the vice grips or pliers is the best bet. And don't worry about the screw. These are normal screws that any hardware store would have. Anyhow, I hope this helped and let me know if it's still stuck. I'll try and think of some more methods. Thanks again for the comment and support. I really appreciate you reaching out.
@ thank you so much for responding! And quickly! I got a pair of long nose pliers thinking I can try to go from the bottom. but I’ll pick up the other type you recommended. That screw sits pretty flush and my other pliers didn’t work. I do have canned air! I’ll give that a go. Thank you! I’ll let you know how it goes. Glad I came across your channel! You’ve got another subscriber!
@jennifertorres4757 thanks Jennifer and I'm seriously just here to try and help. I appreciate your sub :) That's the only thing I was tying to remember (without taking my oven apart, hahaha) if that screw was flush or if it had a head to grip on. If it's truly flush, then the vice grip or pliers won't work, but if it is raised, then I'd give it a shot. As for the keyboard cleaner. It's just a can of air, but if you turn it upside down, it turns into a cold spray. You'll be pretty impressed how cold it can make something. Like I said before, there are other methods, but they become more involved and you have to use a drill to get the screw out. This sucks and I've done it before. Basically you can drill the center of the screw and you can get something called a screw extractor that you can put inside the screw and then rotate out. I'm just hoping you can avoid doing that. Good luck and try and not get too frustrated. Patience and thinking wins this race :)
Great video!!! But I unfortunately still have a problem so I hope you can still help. My broiler and stove WORK no problem - Gas lights up. My bake ignitor in the lower part of my oven GLOWS BRIGHT and totally works BUT my gas for the oven does NOT light up. Any ideas? Many thanks!
@@dcsdefense hey there! Sorry it's still not working. Now I have heard that you can get new igniters that are defects, this may be the cause. Now when you hit bake and you see the igniter glow, are you smelling propane by chance? If not, then you may have a regulator issue and if that's the case, I really don't know how to fix that issue. I'm really sorry about that. But let me know if you come up with anything and like I said, let me know if you are smelling gas
Once again, thank you so much for replying, I sincerely appreciate it. So I removed that bottom plate the metal that covers the gas pipe and the igniter in the bottom of the oven. I can’t say I smell any gas. I went as far as also turning on the oven, and tried to light the gas with one of those Aim n Flame lighters while wearing an oven mitt, and it did not light. It’s so weird because I’m getting gas to my stove and my broiler, and the igniter gets screaming hot down in the bottom of the oven, but it will not light.
@damiansiwek8648 shoot :( then something else must be the problem. Your gas valve to the bottom igniter must be acting up or your control for the valve must be acting up. Especially if you are trying to light it manually (which I would do for sure) and nothing is lighting off. Then yea something else is going on. Now I do know, that when the oven is turned on, it may take 20-30 seconds for the gas to ignite. I'm not sure if that's because the igniter has to get to a certain temp or that's when the gas starts flowing (after a bit). That would be my only other thing to check. If that doesn't work, then you may need to try something else. Again, I'm really sorry this didn't fix your issue. Unfortunately with today's electronics and mechanisms, other problems can exist. The igniter replacement is the most common piece to fail and that why I did this video. I'm also not an appliance repairman, so please take my diagnose with a grain of salt. :) Again my sincere apologies and I hope you can get it fixed soon. I know how frustrating this can be. Keep me up to take if you could on the fix. Others I'm sure are having the same issue and this could help them. Best regards, Stoney
You know, I wa thinking today... and I hate putting more work on you, trust me, I understand. But did you try swapping the top igniter with the bottom one? I say this because, if I were you, I know the top one of working and I would swap it and see if the bottom would start to work. This would garentee that something else is wrong if it doesn't work. Anyway... just my two cents and I completely understand if you don't want to do it. This problem would just drive me nuts... lol, which I'm sure it is for you
DUDE!!! Your solution worked!!!!! And now I understand why it worked: The igniter must be able to gather enough electrical current to OPEN the valve that allows gas to flow. It must then generate an electrical spark to light the gas. If the igniter is unable to perform EITHER of these functions, the oven won't heat. My igniter was NOT gathering enough electrical current to open the valve to let the gas in. That is why my bake igniter was not working while my broiler and my stove were still igniting and turning on. Using your solution to simply replace the entire thing with a new igniter solved that problem. So even though it was glowing bright enough to light the gas, there was not enough electrical current to open the gas to light the oven. Stoney, you’re the best! Thank you so much for posting this video because it finally brought me to the solution I needed.
Hey there. I really have no idea. Try and input that model number in Amazon and see if the igniter I provided in the video is a suitable substitute. From doing some of my own Amazon research, it looks like the one I have will not work. But please type in Samsung, then your model number and then oven igniter. It looks like a few of the people selling them on Amazon has a contact us and you can give them your model number and they can look it up for you. Hope this helps and good luck.

Hi! I got my samsung brand new did convert it to propane stove top are working but the oven only the igniter is lighting up and no fire. Does it have a break in period or I have a bad igniter?
Hey Coolz! I'm not an expert on this, but if you did your propane conversion correctly on your entire appliance, then it looks like you may have a faulty igniter. Having said that, it's a brand new stove and I'd be more concerned about why it's not working right out of the box. For Me personally, even though it can be fixed, I'd be contacting where I got it from and would ask for a complete replacement. That would make me feel better, because if it's already not working, who knows what else could happen in the future. I hope this helps and thanks for the comment and support.
Unfortunately they said that I’m out of the 48hrs threshold for all the appliances. They must have changed the policy because of the past hurricane, who knows.. called samsung cs and just told me to get a professional to install it.. now I’m stuck with this big block in my porch🥹
Hey Coolz, yea that stinks with their return policy being 48 hours. Now if I remember correctly, and don't quite me because I could be wrong. The stove top was fairly easy to convert to propane vs natural gas. As for oven, I can't for the life of me remember what I did with that, meaning did I have to convert those or not. And unfortunately, I'm not at home to take a look. Seeing what your problem is, it's either a faulty igniter or it's not converted properly. So that's where I stand on that and I'm definitely in no position to tell you which way to go from here. Trust me, I know what you're feeling right now and it stinks. I'm sorry I couldn't help you on this, but I do thank you for reaching out. I hope, whatever the problem may be, that you can get it figured out and back to a working state. Stoney
@ Thank you very much! I did convert the oven to propane. I’ll keep working on it maybe change one of the igniter and see what happens. I’ll let you know if I got it working. Thanks!
Mine has been doing this for awhile and I just unplug it and plug it back in now it's not working at all and you can no longer smell gas either. Do you think if I replace the igniter now that it still would work?
Hey Jennifer. That’s a really good question. If I were you, I’d replace the igniter with a new one and see what happens. You already know it’s one of the problems, so fix that first and if it fixes it, then you’re good. If not, then you’ll have to start looking elsewhere, but I’m pretty sure you already know the problem. I hope this helps and thank you for the comment and support :)
@jenniferwoods8395 awesome! Let me know what happens if you remember. You never know, this comment can help someone else out there experiencing the same problem as you. 😎 Thanks again 👍
Trying to replace the baking igniter on my Samsung oven, internals looked just like yours when disassembling but when I pulled out the warming tray to access the igniter quick disconnect, there was nothing there. The two wires that run into the opening seem to run upward, not downward, so I can’t access the quick disconnect.
Hey RB. Yea different models can be different and I bet it's accessible from the back, but to be honest I'm not entirely sure. It should be pretty easy though to access just like on mine. I'm sorry my friend and I hope you can figure it out. I know you can do it 💪
@@StoneyCreekSparkchaser I figured it out. Yes, it was accessible from the back. I had to pull it out while making sure not to mess up the gas line. Thanks for the help.
In my case, the igniter works in a way it starts the fire, gas is strong, bit then out of blue as if I set the gas to minimum, the fire is very low and it takes oven forever to pre heat. Is this still the ingiter problem? Igniter remains on all the time.
@@MrMilanina thanks for the question. I'd say you have a 50/50 chance and if I were you, I'd go with the cheaper option replacing the igniter first. And yes, I had (amongst others that commented) the same thing happen. The igniter just isn't getting hot enough to do its job. So I'd try that, then if it still doesn't work, you know it's something else. Have you tried swapping the top igniter with the bottom igniter or vice versa to see if the problem corrects itself? It's a one way to make sure before you order a new part.
@ I was too lazy to get the one from the top and installed a new one off of Amazon yesterday morning. It fixed the issue. The old one worked, but not even as close strong compared to the new one. Thanks!!!
Awesome my friend! I'm glad it fixed your problem. Great job fixing the issue. Now grab another one for future problems. I have one on standby just incase. :)
been servicing appliances for almost 30 years .... ignitors are like light bulbs . they only have so many hours on them . just like light bulbs , new ones fail sometimes just after installation .....
Hey Mike! Thank you so much for your comment and knowledge in this area. I hope I did this video justice and I completely agree with you. Thanks again and I hope you are having a fantastic weekend my friend!
Hey Merlin! I hope you are well :) so I've heard another person on here say almost the same thing as you. It lights off but it's slow to rise or doesn't rise at all. It ended up being the igniter, even though it lights the gas off. The conclusion that we came to was that the regulator uses the current draw of the igniter to increase the gas amount or decrease it. Now is this your problem? Could be and if I were you, I'd try replacing it or swapping the igniter from the top position, which brings me to another question. Did you try and set the broil and see if your oven heats up to the desired temp? I'd try that and see what happens and my apologies if this doesn't help but I think you're on the right track. I'd almost put money on the igniter being faulty but that's just my thought. Thanks for commenting and keep me in the loop if you can. This video has been valuable to other people and it's allowing them to do some research and correct the problems on their own :)
@BionicMerlin hey there again Merlin. Hmm, I'm not sure. Did you try replacing the igniters? If it's something else that's dealing with the gas valves then I don't know how to adjust them. I apologize if this is of no help. I know for the problem that I had, changing out the igniter is all I did and it fixed my problem and now it works. My apologies again and thanks for keeping me updated. I wish I could help more or knew more about the system.
I don’t know, replacing the igniter does nothing with the gas flow. You did have to take off the nozzle so make sure that’s back on correctly. With the nozzle not back on the tube, I can see that being the source with the gas coming out with it not flowing into the nozzle. Or maybe the house got linked and split in the back? I just know, with the the gas turned back on and the oven off you should absolutely smell nothing at all.
Ok cool. Yea with gas back on, oven off, you want no smell. With bake on, you make get some smell, but nothing like what you were smelling. The igniter will light and then it should light off the gas in the nozzle. I think something just wasn’t hooked up right which happens. You’re doing it right though taking your time. No need to rush this. Let me know how it goes please
I'm telling ya, I will never ever buy a Samsung again! As soon as my Samsung appliances crap out for good, I'm getting something else. I've had nothing but problems, be it the dishwasher, oven, fridge and microwave. What gives my man :) lol

Mr. Steinz! Now that’s a fantastic last name. My last name is Germanic as well and I love my German heritage! I wasn’t aware Stoney = Steinz but now I do… thanks for that! And you never know, we could have some relation waaaaaay down the line! Thanks for the comment and I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas :)
Kevin. You definitely shouldn’t smell gas, and that’s the problem I had when I first saw that my igniter was lighting but wasn’t getting hot enough to light the gas. So I turned it off and let it air out for 10 minutes. So yea, if your smelling gas, that’s means that your igniter is not lighting the gas which is a problem. You’d think Samsung would engineer a solution to auto shut off after a minute or so with no lighting off. It seems very dangerous to me. I hope you can figure it out and be careful my friend.
@@StoneyCreekSparkchaser Hold on, you’re going too fast. s son as I finished connecting igniter, I plug oven in and turned on gas. That’s when I smelled it?
Oh ok, you might smell a little gas when you turn the gas back on, I think that’s normal. I thought you were saying you were having that gas smell when you tried starting the oven. So now with the gas back on. Are you smelling it with the oven off? If not, then if you installed everything correctly, go ahead and try to start it, make sure the door is closed and give it a shot. Let me know if that works. I just didn’t want you to start it with having gas pouring out for some reason

Dude I friggin loved that show! My dad and I would watch it all of the time growing up. Hope things are going good man. I bet that river beer Adams is cranking right now. The creek next to my place is raging from all of this rain.
aloha that trick saved christmas in maui,,! you are a hero,,,!mahalo, larry in maui and alot of happt christmas diners..!
Larry! This is awesome and I'm so glad this worked for you! I wish you and your family a very Maui Christmas! 🎅
Thanks!!!
@@spanishsig07 let's go Spanishsig07!!! Get it going with your bad self... hahaha! I'd be doing the exact same thing :) Thank you so much for letting me know this worked for you. It's also nice knowing the code, since mine never threw one. Thanks again for the comment and support!
You are the man! Less than an hour to complete.( Had the new igniter ) Did put on my pajamas to have the proper vibe. Thanks for posting.
@@StoneyCreekSparkchaser Thanks to you!
Nice step by step instructions, good job.👍
Thanks Rich! I know it’ll help someone out there :) good seeing you again and I hope things are going well. My apologies for the lack of content lately… new job, other priorities and as usual, life tends to get in the way. I hope you have a very Merry Christmas this year!
Hey partner, first of all thank you so much this was a life saver! Second, there is an access at back of oven where you can unplug bottom igniter
Hey Bray! Thanks for the comment and support! I'm
Glad this helped you. I figured, if it happens to me, then it happening to someone else and they should know how to fix it. Oh and thanks for the advice about the bottom panel. Next time mine goes out, I'll take a looksie! Merry Christmas my friend!

Thanks for this video. My son is in Marshall NC and dealing with the aftermath from Helene. His house was saved but business not so much. And then the oven igniter went out. (Microwave blew right after the storm too..)
This video is going to save him big time. Thank you so much.
Jenn! Thank you so much for this comment and I'm glad this will help your son. I'm grateful his house was saved and that he's doing well.
Vanissa! Thank you so much for the comment and support! I'm glad you figured it out and were able to fix your oven on your own. I love being able to show people that they have the power within themselves to do it by themselves and save some money in the process.

Good looking out. The replacement for my model was 170 dollars. Forget that.
Note for anyone with the NX60 models, the old igniter was glowing, but weakly. Theres a temp sensor that won’t let gas flow if the igniter does not get to temp. Might be the same on other models idk.
Dang Cody! That's crazy expensive. Almost worth buying a new appliance when it's that much. Much respect brother.
Thank you man now i can switch them out and my wife can cook again

@@StoneyCreekSparkchaser Thanks! I'll start there.
Thank you so much
You got it Justin! Thanks for the support my friend!
I appreciate your sub :)
That's the only thing I was tying to remember (without taking my oven apart, hahaha) if that screw was flush or if it had a head to grip on.
Any luck Jennifer?
Again my sincere apologies and I hope you can get it fixed soon.
Hi do you know if this works with a samsung model nx58h9500ws please let me know thanks

Thanks VM! Appreciate ya!
I don’t smell gas though just the igniter lighting up.
@StoneyCreekSparkchaser Thanks I'm going to try it. I already have a new range on the way but this would be an easy fix if it works.
Awesome RB! Nice work!
Yup, changed mine twice as well. I no longer have a Samsung
Yep John, that sounds about right. I won’t be far behind you in the future! Thanks for the comment and support John. Much appreciated!
This worked on a slightly different model. Like saver
Hey thanks Robert! I’m glad it worked out for you! I really appreciate the comment and support my friend :)
Mine comes on OK, but doesn't come up to the right temperature. I tried calibrating it like the manual says, but I can't get the numbers up.
@@StoneyCreekSparkchaser I can't get the control to adjust the numbers.
Why am I smelling gas when I turn the gas back on after replacing oven igniter, I turn the value and immediately smells gas?
I don’t know, replacing the igniter does nothing with the gas flow. You did have to take off the nozzle so make sure that’s back on correctly. With the nozzle not back on the tube, I can see that being the source with the gas coming out with it not flowing into the nozzle. Or maybe the house got linked and split in the back? I just know, with the the gas turned back on and the oven off you should absolutely smell nothing at all.
I’m ready to have you call me so I can really sense what’s going on.
How’s it going Kevin? Any luck? It’s been a few minutes since an update.
@@StoneyCreekSparkchaser I just reconnected everything so here we go
Let me know how it goes please
my damn panel lights wont even light up 😂while yours not getting hot ENOUGH!
I'm telling ya, I will never ever buy a Samsung again! As soon as my Samsung appliances crap out for good, I'm getting something else. I've had nothing but problems, be it the dishwasher, oven, fridge and microwave. What gives my man :) lol
Love your tat, but it's hard to read on the video!
Alan! Thanks buddy! If your talking about the tattoo on my upper left arm, it says TMNT, for the teenage mutant ninja turtles. A childhood favorite of mine :)
Light a fire outside and put your food on it.
This is a stress-free solution.
Just Kidding, pal.
By the way, my last name is Steinz = Stoney.
We could be related 😆🍻☃😋🎄
Mr.
I wish that for them too. Time to reflect. @@StoneyCreekSparkchaser
I smell gas, am I suppose to?
It seems
very dangerous to me. I hope you can figure it out and be careful my friend.
@@StoneyCreekSparkchaser Hold on, you’re going too fast. s son as I finished connecting igniter, I plug oven in and turned on gas. That’s when I smelled it?
I didn’t get to try to see if igniter worked because I smelled gas as soon as turned the gas back on?
Oh ok, you might smell a little gas when you turn the gas back on, I think that’s normal. I thought you were saying you were having that gas smell when you tried starting the oven. So now with the gas back on. Are you smelling it with the oven off? If not, then if you installed everything correctly, go ahead and try to start it, make sure the door is closed and give it a shot. Let me know if that works. I just didn’t want you to start it with having gas pouring out for some reason
Just trying to help my friend
