    Very smart observations by Joe Rogan and Nick Bostrom. You're not going to hear these ideas from Oprah, Dr. Phil, Steven Colbert, Leno, Letterman, Conan, CNN, Fox, aka Mainstream Media. That's why his podcast is so great, his natural curiosity.

    It is truly bizarre how we have this idea of the 9 to 5, kids go to high school and university etc. being normal when there are still people alive who remember when it wasn't.

    • @JB-pb9xv
      @JB-pb9xv 3 роки тому +3

      A 9 to 5 consumes the majority of people lives, the rest is spent sitting around. Partaking in whatever personal interests or hobbies, or building a family..
      The 9 to 5 is to support those hobbies, interests or family. The car you drive and ruff over your head, not to mention the gas and food consumed just to get to and from work.
      You are left with whatever you can save, depending on the position an job you hold..
      If this were not the way societies setup, an people are forced to live. You would basically have a family, friends, an clan or tribe. An would hunt and or garden, grow and gather for yourself an others. An innovate ways to get things done.
      While building shelter and living off the land for free.. money wouldn't be needed, an ALL your time would be spent with your family and building what you have. You would teach your children what they need to know in order to survive, an the skills that after important..
      The way society is designed, is more or less to create a system of class. An to restrict people from acquiring whatever they want, without playing along. It's a control system, an it's rigged at that.
      Either way the dominant, most strong and intellectual have the most. An probably would regardless, but all the pointless crap and cancer causing devices we have. People would be healthier an less stressed, an over all live a better life without the system we have.. People think it would suck without tv, video games, showers, grocery stores. But the food we eat is crap as well, everything about the life style is bad and unhealthy. If anything some people manage to live a little better and healthier then others, but it is what it is.. Until the world "resets," an even then. There will be those who hold onto enough in underground dwellings and reinforced bunkers or safe houses. Who will that far ahead of anyone starting with nothing.
      I think it would be dope living off the land, even just with knives and bows an arrows or crossbows.. Living in the forest or jungle and making a wood an/or mud house.. Long as you lived near a clean "water source." But resources are bound to be dominated and hoarded.

    I think there's a correlation between our increasingly advancing technological capabilities and the influx in human population over the span of the last 2 centuries.
    Prior to the industrial revolution (1800's) our population was roughly at about one billion; fast forward only two hundred years and our population has increased seven fold. Having such a fast growing and large population allows for there to be more human beings who have the potential to contribute lasting technological advancements than we've previously had.
    In other words, the more great minds we have on this earth, the quicker our technology will advance.
    Of course, this is only one element of a much larger story. But, it is an undeniable factor which I've never heard discussed before.

    • @asceticsceptic6192
      @asceticsceptic6192 5 років тому +2

      @treydarling My comment has nothing to do with how I "feel" about overpopulation.
      Of course overpopulation is a problem, but this still does not negate the fact that there is now more capable people on this earth than ever before. What you're saying is a no-brainer. I'm simply looking at the problem from another angle.

      I also feel like this happens all the time in philosophy... you start exploring a certain subject, asking questions, analysing... and, you follow the logical progression and talk round and round a big circle til you kinda end up in a position which then seems obvious and redundant. But even if you conclude something which seems obvious, by the process of exploring how you get there, I think you understand it more deeply and fully.

    He has a point about human progression but a lot of people such as him always seem to skip over the fact that there were a lot of advanced ancient civilizations that they don’t know how they operated or what technology they used. They have hieroglyphics displaying technological advancements yet they’re dismissed as mythology or allegory. We have advanced from what we have documented but a lot of documents have been destroyed or detained by elite organizations such as the Roman Catholic Church.
