    Thanks to the sharp eye of one of my viewers, there was a case shown by a patient that wasn't well presented when I was digging for results. There were two sets of photos which I mistakenly described as being before and after, when in fact they were not. My apologies for the discrepancy. I removed that section of the video to keep things fair.
    I think it is also worth mentioning that this video is in response to a consultation question I was given and that it in no way reflects my opinion of Dr. Nadimi, simply because I have no opinion of Dr. Nadimi, which was the whole point of my dissection of her reputation. There simply is not enough information about her work. This also is not a comparison of results between Dr. Nadimi and Dr. Panine, nor has it been presented as such. If anyone watches this and asks why I didn't present results of Dr. Panine, you should seriously consider brushing up on your comprehension skills as the point was clear about what the issue was. I was not saying that Dr. Panine is or is not world class, nor was I saying he is a more competent hair transplant surgeon than Dr. Nadimi, but it is much easier for one to discern whether or not he is worthy of such a title, where in the case of Dr. Nadimi, it is not so clear due to the small amount of online documentation.
    In order to be considered world class, one must not have any barriers that make that distinction difficult to make.

    What do you think? Should a doctor that is referred to as "world class" have a solid library of crystal clear images and/or video that represents their work? Or should they be considered as such because anonymous people on the internet say they are?

    Great video. The results from Konior/Nadime seem well enough from what we can see but it seems that the former has been elevated to an unreasonable tier (especially on the forums, one in particular is very consistent with this). The work we see from them doesn't seem much better than what we see of other top surgeons yet Konior is see as some HT "god" which I've found to be very odd. With that being said, thoughts on Feller and Bloxam? Bloxam is a newer surgeon but seems to be doing solid work from what can be seen so far.

    • @hairtransplantchannel
      @hairtransplantchannel  2 роки тому

      For FUT, Bloxham has some skills and was trained by a really good doc. I can't say anything about the variety of cases he takes on, meaning the variables he runs into based on a number of factors, but from what I've seen he does a solid job.

    As a norwood 6 I cant imagine having this problem. I understand the guy has an opportunity to look 100% and thats a good problem to have. Compared to my hair, no transplant is needed, his hair looks great as it is. I can say if you have a choice between an ISHRS doc and not ISHRS I would go with the ISHRS doc but thats just me

    This is helpful because I am thinking of going to Dr. Panine. I'm OK with my hairline. It's recessed, but I'm 38 and I think it's age-appropriate. I want to get surgery for my diffuse thinning. I have gotten slightly more density from using oral minoxidil and oral dutasteride, but there's still a lot of scalp visibility. I'm able to conceal it by using Toppik, but I'd like my hair to look dense without Toppik. There seems to be some debate in the hair loss community about whether diffuse thinners are good candidates for surgery. I'm not an expert, but I'm guessing that they put transplanted hairs between the native hairs. I'm worried that a transplant would cause shock loss, which make my hair look worse than it does now. Is shock loss permanent? I would like to know whether FUT or FUE would be better for my first surgery. I started losing my hair when I was 19, and I started using finasteride when I was 20. Finasteride worked well for 16 years, and then I started losing hair rapidly. I had trouble finding a dermatologist willing to prescribe dutasteride, and I lost a lot of hair during the last few months of my finasteride treatment. I'm considering a transplant to regain the hair I lost during those few months. I'm concerned that I could eventually run into the same problem with dutasteride that I did with finasteride. Finasteride prevented my hair loss for a long time, but then it stopped working. I'm worried that dutasteride could also stop working someday. That's the reason why I want to find out whether FUE or FUT is better for managing hair loss in the long term. I'll probably need more transplants years later, and I don't know whether FUT or FUE would be better for utilizing my donor area as much as possible over a lifetime.

    • @hairtransplantchannel
      @hairtransplantchannel  2 роки тому

      Diffuse thinners are fine candidates, just like anyone else. It just depends on how the recipient area is prepped and if the hair present is stabilized with surgery. Nothing can completely prevent shock loss of native hair however. Proper prep just reduces the chances of it being permanent. You can learn the difference between the two on my website in the glossary.

    Mistake in Nadimi photos. In your last example of Nadimi's work, with the green background, both photos are "before" photos. One is without the goal hairline drawn on, and one is with the goal hairline drawn on. The hairline looks exactly the same because it is. I found the thread this came from in the Hair Restoration Network called "Yesterday I had FUE with Dr. Nadimi". There is an actual 6 month progress photo which looks good (again, taken by the patient), except it is from an above view and impossible to compare the the pre-surgery photos.
    I agree with you on her website, it's not good. Difficult to navigate and impossible to tell who did what. I did find some good photos on her profile on Real Self. Not sure why these wouldn't be on the actual clinic website with her name on them.
    One thing I think is important in choosing a transplant surgeon is how involved they are with the procedure. My understanding is that Nadimi does both the extractions and the implantations, while many other clinics rely on technicians to do much of the work (the implantation part I believe). I'm not saying Panine does this, I have no idea. I would be afraid to go to a technician heavy practice because no matter how experienced the surgeon is, you could still end up with a brand new tech doing much of the work.

      Thanks for the correction, but it still shows my point in that you can't really tell what's going on with her results. I understand your position regarding doctors that do everything. I think that's great when they do, but it doesn't mean they're good at it. There are a lot of variables that go into this for sure, and it is a dizzying process for even experienced patients when doing their research. Personally, after 20 years, I'm still bewildered at the number of points patients today have to consider, most of which they're not even aware of. It's nothing like the old days (mid-2000's).

    • @hairtransplantchannel
      @hairtransplantchannel  2 роки тому

      Furthermore, it doesn't help one's research when she has a small army of anonymous cheerleaders pushing her on anyone and everyone that asks about her as if she's the greatest thing since sliced bread. It's really shady considering the lack of actual evidence to support these so called opinions.

    • @jasonboolander3348
      @jasonboolander3348 2 роки тому +2

      @@hairtransplantchannel I agree with you that she is lacking in before and after photos. However, the last case is presented as if it is a failed transplant and evidence that she is a bad surgeon. I can understand why it was presented this way (you did not realize that these were both before photos). That being said, now that you know the truth, I believe you should edit the video in some way to correct this mistake (like overlying text stating how you later found out these were both before photos). It seems dishonest to keep it the way that it currently is.

      @@jasonboolander3348 I agree. I've cut the section entirely as once a video is uploaded to YT it can't be modified in such a manner. There are ways subtitles can be added that are customized but it it's a real stretch to call it a true edit. Cutting the section out is best.

    Excellent video Joe. If patients want to research a doctor’s work then they need to be comparing apples with apples. As you have already stated pre and post surgery (results) require identical angles and lighting of patients on their websites and UA-cam presentations (look at Eugenix for a great example of this). Forums can dilute this down further for the same reason. Thanks for sharing!

    • @hairtransplantchannel
      @hairtransplantchannel  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks. Eugenix has done a good job, at my urging, to really invest time and energy into documenting their results. I don't think their level of effort is necessary in order for patients to make an informed decision. I do think that there should be a sizeable body of work in order for a clinic to be considered. Put that clinic into the "world class" category and I'm frankly shocked that anyone can be considered as such simply because a few anonymous forum people push the narrative.

      @@hairtransplantchannel You’re a smart guy Joe! But I have to disagree with you your last point. Patient testimonials and dynamically recording their progress, for me is the best possible method of research. @@j8cross Patient generated testimonials, backed up by GOOD photographs that show actual detail to their result, is a fantastic resource. I didn't say anything remotely to the contrary. My point was anonymous persons that only repeat comments said by other anonymous persons; that's the problem. For instance, Dr. Nadimi. The patient that asked me about her called her a "world class" hair restoration surgeon. I questioned that designation because anyone that is world class should have more results out in the wild, shared by her clinic or by the patient, and there are very few. Like I said in the video, she may have hundreds of cases where she's done an excellent job that would justify such praise, but I don't see such numbers and only see what I shared. She is obviously not a hack, but I don't know if she's world class or just average. That is the point.

      That's great if you are happy with your results after only four months. You're probably looking forward to seeing your hair continue to improve. I emailed pictures of my hair to Dr. Panine's clinic to show them that I have diffuse thinning and that I'd like improved density. I was concerned that FUE transplanted hairs might have a lower survival rate compared to FUT, but they told me that there's an equal survival rate from both procedures. The other thing they told me is that FUT can transplant a higher number of grafts than FUE, so I'm leaning more toward FUT in case I end up getting a transplant.
