    I've lived in Kobe for about a year and half some time ago, and I had one of the best experience of my life so far in terms of food.
    Besides the Kobe beef, which was too expensive for me, there was the first Russian restaurant that opened in Japan and has history of something like 100 years. There was a China town. Lots of good Indian restaurant. Some of the best Turkish, Vietnamese, Thai restaurants I've ever been to. One of the best Naples style pizza. You will never get tired of food there.
    And of course lots of cheap and good Japanese restaurants.
    You can also enjoy a weekend by hiking over the Rokko mountain and taking a dip in an onsen on the other side of the mountain, a nice 5 ~ 6 hour hike. Then you can just hop on to a bus or train and be back to the center of Kobe in half an hour or so.
    I really miss Kobe....

According to the receipt we had an A4.5 cut? Either way it cost 13981 yen after tax for the cut so for both of us together and was still freaking delicious. It introduced me to the experience of steak that melts in your mouth, it was fantastic.

He also didn't mention that the incredible softness comes from massaging the cow. The last thing I think pete should have mentioned on it is that if you are going out to eat real kobe, you can ask to see a certificate. All of the A5 cuts (don't know about lower) are given to the dining establishment with a certificate of authenticity. You can make sure your kobe is legit by viewing the certificate.

      I second that question. I'm curious about the answer, because I watched a video of Ryotaro-san giving a TED talk in Japanese, and I couldn't believe it was the same person;. he seemed so subdued. Some of that can definitely be attributed to a TED talk being a formal setting and Abroad in Japan being informal, but that being said I've also watched some very lively TED talks from the US. I wonder how much of the difference in behaviour is a cultural thing.

    • @Kokorisu
      @Kokorisu 6 років тому

      I'm bilingual (Spanish and English), and I have the slight inner feeling of being a "different person" in each language. Not massively, but I feel like I act, express myself and gather my thoughts in different ways depending on the language.
      It's hard to explain or put into words, but I think it's definitely a thing. Different languages have codes of expression that lead to slightly different information processing.
