Another vote for Ashes 2063 & Afterglow for the next episode of this series. It's an _absolutely _*_magnificent_* mod and totally deserves to be a game in its own right eventually.
9:07 The full name for this WAD is called Action Doom 2: Urban Brawl, as it's the sequel to Scuba Steve's equally amazing TC Action Doom, which is heavily inspired by NES sidescrollers like Contra. Also if you play the zombie level in Urban Brawl, I did the music for that! :D
Nice Vid Mate but I wish GZDoom wouldn't default to texture filtering on, I think a lot of people new to it don't realize the graphics don't have to look blurry and smudged. If you don't know how to turn it off go to options, turn simple menu options to off then go to display options-->textures options and set the texture filter mode to none (trust me it looks a million times better). Also I personally like to go in in the OpenGl settings in Display options then postprocessing and set bloom to on and ambient occlusion to low (helps to stop levels looking flat light wise) and checking that dynamic lights are on in dynamic light options can help a lot too.
@@thereviewsbrothers3854 Glad to be helpful fella, GZDoom has a shed full of options and can be a rabbit hole on their own, but I think the ones I mentioned are the best to help it look better (I like setting sector lighting to Doom in Hardware Rendering as well) Trust me your eyes and viewers eyes will thank me. A few great mods to look out for are Bloom (a great mash up of Doom and Blood), Aliens Eradication (best Aliens Mod) and Beautiful Doom a calmer and less edgy boy answer to Brutal Doom (I like Brutal Doom but it can be a bit much at times) which feels closer to the original Doom. PSX Doom CE and Doom 64 CE are great ports of the Console versions (worth playing for the lighting, level design and Music giving it all a darker and moodier atmosphere). In fact Doom modding is an endless, glorious mess of genius and madness.
Thanks for this! I plan on getting into Doom mods with GZDoom myself and I can't help but scoff at the texture filtering in games like Doom, Quake, and even Half-Life due to how ugly it looks in comparison to the unfiltered textures.

It's clear that they have had a lot of love, care and talent being put into them, so giving them for free seems outrageous for me! And Hideous Destructor is definitely *a* mod. I personally might beat the game one day with it, just so I can say I did it, lol. As for the portrayal of firearms, I agree. It's very on point. Demonsteele is insanely fun with sythe 2. I first played it with the difficulty that caps health to 4. I found it to be an incredible experience, but because the mod is somewhat unbalanced, i changed some things. There's a lot to this weapon mod, your guns lvl up and change with each lvl up. 40ish weapons. Your progress carries between levels, so longer mappacks are recommended, Auger Zenith works well. Golden Souls 2 - Super Mario World (Snes with a little N64) mixed with doom. Has a world hub, NPCs, shops, and so much more. @@STREAMERZEE The first link is a RAR file, which has all the PK3/ipk3 files in it. You can use those the same way you would a wad, just open the Decadence.ipk3 file with GZDoom and you should be good to go. Thats how I run it.
Ashes is not just my favorite doom wad, but one of my favorite shooters ive ever played. Insane how great that game feels, how perfect the art direction is, and how many memorable setpieces it manages to weave together that feels like an epic adventure. Reminded me of playing half life 2 for the first time.
You must be the first person to use "amazingly smoothly" and GZDoom in one sentence. GZDoom is notorious for occasional lags (when playing with mods) and handling lags horribly on top of it by skipping a lot of frames. Pirate Doom in particular can't possibly run smoothly in one or two levels, because the visual effects in them are too much for GZDoom to handle.
Realistically given he’s playing brutal doom you aren’t gonna be convincing him to use a different source port anytime soon since gzdoom is the only source port that works with these big conversions
My house has one thing you could've pointed out. The fact that it should be impossible to have a second floor above a first, normally. The original Doom games, despite how they look are actually 2d not 3d, which means collision with monsters on upper floors. Just to highlight how truly intuitive "my house.wad" is.
Even though it won't be free to download when it finally releases, Selaco is still a stunning Doom mod. I've played the demo on Steam for several hours already, and I still find it hard to believe that it has anything to do with the OG Doom. So looking forward to it...
Everyone is talking about Ashes 2073, which is ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL, but no one is talking about Hedon which is another PHENOMENAL total conversion mod. Different enemies different guns, just a completely different game made with the same level of care in detail that Ashes was!
I too as well!! I’m a brand new subscriber and love gaming channels like these gotta try the urban brawl mod!!! Getting Comix Zone vibes.... now I need to go play it again shooot.... haven’t played that in nearly 30 years ago on Sega Channel yeah I’m old lol (turning 39 in October of 2023) lol
Same. Did you also like the original? It had an amazing vibe. The mod captures it for sure. I could do without the ghosts though, my only complaint. Now if you want an insane atmospheric horror that has a movie soundtrack and feels like a movie in a nightmare/fever dream, try Grezzo 2. Id go into it blind, make sure to add the English patch it comes with. I've never had more fun in any doom mod. I thought it was just an overly edgy mod, but I was wrong.

@@thereviewsbrothers3854 when i went to that link it didnt have a wad file
where do i find the file?
@@STREAMERZEE The first link is a RAR file, which has all the PK3/ipk3 files in it. You can use those the same way you would a wad, just open the Decadence.ipk3 file with GZDoom and you should be good to go. Thats how I run it.
@@thereviewsbrothers3854 i use doom explorer tho
Star Wars mod is brilliant!
Trenchfoot reminds me of Warhammer 40K with the Imperial Guard against Chaos
John Romero did a playthrough of My House on his stream and his YT channel... That was my introduction to the mod! John is one chill dude
Not a single mention to Ashes Dead Man Walking? Or afterglow? Really? Alright man.
Urban Brawl also has a winter-themed sequel\ spin-off. Also, wasn't Trenchfoot an adaptation of one of the 40k stories?
I recommend Doom Infinite

No Sonic Robo Blast 2?
Arthurian Legends is a hidden gem.
Oh great. I haven’t heard of that one. I’ll add it to the list for part 3 😎
Damn you forgot Moon Man
💀21:29 you're main attack is knife and you're other attack is a knife lol 💀
No, Ashes 2063 or High Noon Drifter.....come on
I humbly suggest: Voxel Doom II. You'll see why...
1:18 how about no
Trench Foot looks fucking awesome.
Nice to see how creative people use the GZdoom engine. None of this is actually possible with the actual Doom engine though 😊
Someone else that also seen too much of “man I can’t believe this is a doom mod !!!” While using zdoom
What's essential is to turn off billinear filtering
DOOM: LITHIUM is best mod.
Trench Foot is my favorite of al time.
Really cool video. I’ve been getting back into Doom after playing a lot of the Splatterhouse Doom TC. It’s such an atmospheric piece of art
👍👍
You forgot the moon man mod
No Golden Souls?
Legend of Doom 🎉
You forgot the most important. H DOOM.
Promo-SM 😎
What is Bruel doom?
It's like doom, but bruel m8
No Moon Man or H mod?
What kind of essentials list is this?!?!?!
here is my recommendation: HDoom
This is not a top 10 without probably the best mod Ever. Ashes
Well you better subscribe coz you’ll never guess what is in tomorrows video… 😉
Nothing beats the Ashes. Best mod I've ever seen.
Yeah. Could easily be released as its own game and still do well.
Waste of Time
9:07 oh yeah because we should definitely promote the DOOM mod that has the protagonist call a clearly gay guy an f-slur...
Indeed we should.

That third one looks like absolute garbage.

Grezzo 2 you mean.
