My Boss Is Toxic At Work... What Should I Do?
I work at a company. My boss sucks and that is the truth. What should I do?
Most people get stuck in a work with a toxic boss. It's an enviroment that holds you back from growing and gets you in a place of anxiety and demotivation.
So, what should you do in cases like that? How should you approach the fact that your boss is a toxic person and how should you proceed? Should you quit your job? Should you stay in your job and confront your boss?

If the job isn't loyal to me....why do I wanna be loyal to it?
Damn fucking right.
Great way to put it!
When it’s like that, it’s best you find another job
Because they sign your checks
@@definitelynotlebronjames443 but you come to provide you service. If they don't appreciate you go elsewhere
I have a toxic boss. A new job can’t come soon enough. I’m waiting to hear something after interviewing last week. This toxic boss lies & acts so hateful that I refuse to let my health suffer dealing with her!
It sucks too when they believe their own lies
selenalatina17 yeah. Right after I wrote this comment, I received a job offer & left that toxic boss!
@@mariahg4561 that's awesome! I'm really glad you don't have to deal with that toxic person anymore. 😊 Hope your new job is going well!
Problem is. When ppl get these higher positions they think they are untouchable.
same here! Was in the same position as you. My health was definitely declining because of a toxic boss. Quit my job with 2 weeks notice, job searched for about 3-5months and landed a job. Some toxic aspects to the job I have now but I'm definitely more cautious of managers and looking after my health! You'll learn from the bad experiences. All the Best!
So far, EVERY job I've worked at is like this. There's nowhere to go.
Start your own business
YES! i’m starting to think that i’m the problem !
Majesty 1987 it’s not even that some bosses just don’t have good work ethic. I have a boss who’s lazy as fuck and sometimes lie to not have to deal with the problem later.
Majesty 1987 update: i have a new job two managers actually like me ! but there’s one that singles me out every time but aye 2 out of 3 isn’t so bad (/
If you are working for somebody, unfortunately you are bound to rules and regulations and general culture of that place. Still, all staff should be treat with respect. Sadly, a lot of companies don’t give a flying hoot about the star f
bad, narcissistic bosses aren't worth it.
Damn right
my boss is a narcissist
Something should be done in society to help make it so the boss doesn't become crazy. They affect the employees and it affects their families. It's like a domino effect
My narcissistic boss cant even communicate and the stress of me trying everything is killing me! Need to leave but still looking for a back up job.
Tania Wells-Matthews samee
I’m looking for a new job. It can’t come fast enough. My boss is a liar & vengeful.
" There is more to life THAN some stupid job & stupid team.... " . AWESOME :)
Yes i agree im moving to la were the sunshines and try my career what i want fo do

Sometimes if the workplace
is just so awful and too much for one to bear, it is better to give a two week notice!! Better to get out of a toxic work environment, ASAP!!!
After 28 yrs I managed to find a really great job, after yrs of abuse from my malignant narcissistic boss. I'm totally thrilled but terrified at the same time. I've known nothing else.
Dennis LePorte what made you take that leap to leave? My position is currently making me anxious and depressed. I do my base work, other work and managers work. The kicker? I was given a false title with more work and no raise. It was my mistake that when the prior person left I should have taken the new “role” but seen everything in writing from the responsibilities and how much more I would be making. I wake up and dread going to work but my family comes first and I’m trying to suck it up. I asked for a raise half a year ago and it went ignored. I followed up last week and again was ignored. I’m currently actively looking but I feel my mental health is getting abused and I feel like I’m going to break down mentally.
I understand where your at. I was working two positions in one. My manager position was a joke because it was only used if she needed to blame me for something, otherwise it was a joke with no pull at all. My boss never believed anything I ever said plus the day supervisor was such a F-- Up that I was getting into trouble for his mistakes. My boss was a delusional, narcisstic , rageaholic . I missed out on raises put up with racist shit the list was so long..... but the real reason which I embarrassed to say was I started taking a shot or two of whiskey before going into work WHAT!? not good. Especially in the med profession. I start my new job the 29th. My last day was saturday. Am I terrified ? YOu bet. But I already feel sooooo much better it was a abusive relationship. If I can do it after 28 yrs you can too. Cheers!
I agree. You must leave and secure your own happiness, health.
Danielle Tirpkoff nah i just quit LMAOOO
Sound advice. Loyalty can´t be a one way street. Does not work that way.
A-fucking-men. .. That was gay, but you get my drift haha! Well said!
What if every job you get the boss is bi-polar control freak, I keep running, dont know what to do?
Jimmy Winn you can find a new better job
It is rare to find a really good boss. Get their astrology sign right up front, and google it to see if yours meshes with theirs...as in personality compatibility.
Are you in retail?
Work really hard and you can be your own boss. ❤️
@Jimmy Winn, I am bipolar and am calmer than my manager who isn't. I got chewed out for being hard to read, not having enough gestures when my manager talks to me, and they hated how I just sat there quietly the gold time they corrected me. Please don't use my disability flippantly to talk about anyone who fits your stereotype. Bipolar is a spectrum disorder that effects each person that has it differently.
What to do about a nitpicking supervisor always finding little things to pick with me about????
Ikr I‘ve got the same problem... that bitch is a total controlfreak!
Fucking same man we all hate this bitch but it's hard to get rid of her
I've worked with managers that like to be particular about things, but are willing to work with you and don't make you feel stupid and treat you like a human being. I've also worked with true asshats and you can't get away from those people fast enough. It isn't worth an ounce of your time and energy to work with human trash like that
Totally on point! Our toxic boss is awful to people and so is her daughter! I've got a catalog of their nasty emails started!
This is exactly what I'm going through right now. Everyone in my workplace in on eggshells due to the moodiness and critical nature of our boss. My coworker told me I shouldn't move on because if I did the whole place would unhinge. That wouldn't be an issue if my boss was actually competent. ugh.
I left a boss that was toxic two months ago. He was disrespectful toward me, swearing at me for making a mistake, belittling me because I am inexperienced, and something. After my 3rd day, I told him that this is not going to work, and I will be moving on to something that isn’t a fit for what I’m looking for. What made me wanna walk out the door instantly was when he made the comment of “I’m a nice guy, but I won’t mess up my reputation for someone like you.” That same day I left, I got an offer with a guy that treats his employees like family, sets an example for what a true leader is, and doesn’t degrade you or single you out if you make a mistake. I could not be happier and I’m way more successful. No job is worth ruining your mental health and well being. If it is, time to go. Thank you for this video!
My job is killing my mentally. there has been not much work on lately. Iv'e been here for 3 years. He decides to hire some new guy and puts him ahead of me for work. what a joke!
I needed this man , thanks for standing up for the worker.
Show up everyday sharp, not a second later, not a second before. Keep performing at your best. Get your tasks done. smile. LOOK FOR ANOTHER JOB ASAP!!! (don´t tell anyone, you might run the risk of getting fired before you actually get another job). you lack skills I hear you say? EDUCATE YOURSELF. Study on your own every night, every weekend. KEEP SENDING CVs. Talk to people you know, you never know where opportunities come from. You don´t know what you don´t know. KEEP APPLYING IT WILL COME. Record every instance of foul behaviour towards employees or yourself for future reference, everything on paper!
Thank you Andrea! I love your advice, it’s not just your a story that perpetuates anger and helplessness. Thank you for a sense of direction
Literally going into work tomorrow to have a "talk" with my boss. Every time this talk happens, she sees me and the 1 other employee having the attitude problem when she's making the issue arise in the first place. Everything happens based on her mood. Really wanted to learn the grooming trade, but now she's holding me back to say that I'm not good enough. I can beat myself up no problem all on my own.
I went through 28 yrs of this simliar behavior. YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH.
i went through 13 yrs of this similar behavior at work. I have no backup plan and i want to quit so bad but i'm on a single income. I also have no support. i don't know what to do???
I am sorry, that's not right to be treated that way. Sounds like that person just isn't very confident themselves.
Thank you for this! I really appreciate hearing this advice. Nice to know im am not wrong in feeling doubt or guilt about tryin to make a change in a toxic environment.
I so needed this video. Thank you, John.
This man is speaking nothing but facts !!!
+Tylia Hynson Yes!
One time my manager yelled at me for not going on lunch even though she crossed my lunch out. I've been at my job for 4 months and I always think about quitting. All of the new people quit and want to. Even one still in training told me. They are very unclear and get mad at you for not doing something properly even though my training was 15 minutes. It's a mess and I hate retail and customer service not for the customers but for the management.
Savannah what was your job?
Man Completely agreed with you, done it once quite same day, just Fuck It.
Thank you so much for the video...
+Karume Asangama You're welcome!
I started a new job last month. I really like my coworkers but the owner is a complete delusional narcissist who gaslights, accuses, and project all of his bullshit onto me and others. I also have to wake up extremely early and we are absurdly understaffed so everything is on just me in the morning and I honestly can't get it all done on time. I'm so anxious and am only sleeping 2-4 hours per night. I don't want to leave my coworkers, and they've said the only reason people quit are because of him...but this really, really sucks. I just want to be able to use someone there as a reference but damn...i don't even want to be in this line of work!
Great video mate very true too, good for you, keep up the good work.So many people let this shitty behaviour slide, not I....cheers
Great video 👍
I had to sit through a meeting where 2 supervisors and a superintendent explained to me that respect cannot be a 2 way street in a work environment
That's bs......respect works both way. Treat all employees individually and with respect.
I love this video!!!
Great video
If feel for anyone who has a toxic boss. I suffered for 3 years with one, and enough was enough and left
Great advice
9 / 10 of my bosses have been power trippers
I wish I read this 4 weeks ago. I worked for the worse company in my life- the boss was completely mentally unstable. I persisted for almost 2 years and managed to find a role and was wanting to leave asap but agreed to work my 4 week notice period. The feeling afterwards is so weird. I've been numbing myself for so long to his bullying that I find it hard to feel I can relax now.
wen blue i have the same situation currently :-(
Maybe it's time to employ Tony Soprano tactics?
I have a boss and she yelled at me the other day and I bursted into tears.
I'm sorry to hear that 😞🥺 I would have yelled back at him or her 😂 lol
is it worth standing up for a coworker who is being abused by boss.... idk whats his deal with him but he gets so much shite at work just for being there. boss is nicer to the women.
That is up to you but I can tell you someone did this for me and when I finally got the backbone to to to the big boss she had already had my back and it made it so much better and now he’s doing it to her so we can tell and hopefully he’s getting fired soon for being hostile and discriminatory. It does make you a target but I was so grateful to her for standing up for me
My boss was very toxic towards me at work. I finally stood up for myself and spoke up when she was verbal and she backed off. Also if you're in a toxic work environment why do. You even put up with that? Toy need to set boundaries with people.
WOW thanks!
There's a fun book called "30 Days to Stop Being a Shitty Boss" by Corin Devaso.
Go Bob! Working in your industry isn't easy and like simple programmer said you owe you boss nothing. If you do struggle with the guilt then maybe consider chatting to HR and giving them and your team a heads up that your leaving so they can prepare themselves. But yes the boss could do with having to struggle if others get tired of his crap while trying to find your replacement and leave too then that boss deserves to have that happen and your workmates deserve a better work environment too
Yep, good advice.
Thank you Sir ! I lost one job, Brcause of Covid 19. I'm grateful to have one. But my boss is Toxic. They need help at another location. So she were waiting for an answer. She said "either you volunteer or I'll volunteer you". That's a threat. I were feared for getting fired. Plus any schedule changes, her think likes She's asking can you come in , etc. Yes Maam. Most of my Bosses are nuts! I can't take it anymore.
I agree. Fuck the two weeks. Another job can't wait
my god , this is the exact situation i have been through, and my boss is still torturing me even after i left with the wrongs that happened in the team after i left. And she wants me to take the blame and pay for it and has still not given me my experience letter which i require for my further studies :(
I work at a job like this I hate it everyday I get up to go to work. Try to make the best of it but most days it's impossible.
Exactly!!
i think companies should treat workers just like they treat customers
Fuck the 2 weeks....i feel like that email came from someone that works for an employer just like mine. Just make sure that when you leave you have money to pay bills while transitioning
I am currently dealing with a toxic boss/owner and need desperate help. I have a long and I mean LONG list of problems I experience along with our other hard working employees. Two of her kids work there and are AWFUL at their job...one even goes on meth benders and she coddles them, doesn’t reprimand them but the sober people who take their job personally and work harder than them or even herself she is constantly dogging on. I need help desperately! I am 21 weeks pregnant and can’t really find work elsewhere especially during this pandemic. Advice please!
My boss is a rude and cocky person. I was told by someone to tell him something and explain it. But he tells me I'm overrthinkking. No I was just explaining what I was told lol
I've been struggling with this for a few weeks now. I had to get a job 'cuz yanno, gotta earn your keep and all that, and shit's been hard during covid. Oh, but guess what's easily employable 'cuz of highturnover? Restaurants!
My boss is a massive sociopathic, violent jackoff.
I know I'm not the only one in history who's struggled with something like this, but wow guys, if it's THIS bad (i'm seeing all these comments, and related videos on the side), then I'm disappointed we haven't really tried to overhaulingly change the structures of society. We gotta do that!
#WorkingClassRevolution
What job gives you 2 weeks notice before you get laid off?
What about when you are a student saving for school while in school?
Nathan Nemeth OKAY YES THIS HIT THE SPOT I NEED THE MONEY BUT HOW MUCH MORE CAN I TAKE
I work at a University and as soon as I walked into this position I realized I made a mistake by choosing this research group. I started looking for new jobs after three months into this position and I found what I think it's a step up and better environment. I got my offer last week and I'm walking away in two months since I need to relocate to another country and it takes some time to arrange everything. However, I'm so afraid that my current boss would not provide me with any reference letter in the future so I have to put up with a lot of s**t that she gives me right now. It takes up so much of my energy that I'm not even excited about moving to a new country.... :(
Update,?
Thank you for this video...here is my little experience
I worked at a Toxic workplace in an Office Environment and it was so bad that I was thrown under the Bus and got in trouble for things I didn't even do because gossip is the normal thing to do when people get bored
Most of the women I worked with are the worst offenders since this feminist movement is increasing in popularity and the tone of their voice for simply asking a question they will look at you like you are some sort of idiot and their eyes roll.
I was sabotaged and manipulated by most of my co-workers getting me into a lot of trouble so that they can have this sense of power to frame me at any chance they can get because I have this gut feeling they hated me from the beginning and I don't understand why.
Oh! Just get HR...nope not going to even do that for the fear of everything that's going to backfire on me so it's pretty much a no win situation, so the only thing left is getting out of that nasty Environment and find a job that I really love to do in the end.
These sick fucks don't know me on a personal level and most of the time I keep to myself and do my work because that's what I'm there to do...but since I don't do any hardcore drugs or party as much they saw me as a threat...glad I got out of there as quickly as possible with the courtesy of a two weeks notice just to prove that I can work and on the last day I got shit done...unfortunately my Manager, Supervisors were still not satisfied, but that's ok...at least I got out of there knowing I did my best.
I'm dealing with a similar situation. Except they try to bleed a rock in my circumstance. My problem is that I will never find another job that pays nearly what I make. I want to really speak my mind, but I have the golden handcuffs. I work as a physical therapist, and I like helping people, but management politics suck, and you can only bleed a rock so long before it cracks. I'm not going to scream at management (although they deserve it) because of 3 reasons...My wife and 2 kids. And reimbursement sucks in this field, so I won't start my own company because it is a losing battle in the long run dealing with insurance companies. If you know anyone who wants to be a physical or occupational therapist, tell them to run away from that thought and don't look back. Trust me
You always get a douche in work and it’s worse if it’s a boss!!! I’ve had assholes who are useless and never praise you for your good work but will point out the smallest/dumbest mistakes? stuff that really doesn’t even need a mention!! you can get people make you feel like they are waiting to jump on you any second they can, it’s like a weird pressure.. my advice is to get out or get lucky! and see them move on
You don’t just “get out of a job” unless you re 18-25 and living at home . If you’re in your 40s or 50s you’re likely stuck in a job . Quit and your life goes down the tubes
Quit when you have a new job, not when you don't.
Millennials are not Baby Boomers. We understand the job market is vast.

What a condescending , rude thing to say! 😒👎 shame on you..Grow Up.
There is a place for everyone even if you are 40-50. Believe in yourself. You need to stop tacking the shit and demonstrate that you are your own boss with a lot of great skills. Experience is very valuable. You are an asset.
Which i am heh
damn, I should move to the US, in UK we have 4-12 weeks notice for normal positions :)
2 weeks notice is more than adequate. Any notice is a courtesy. This is not indentured servitude. You are not a slave. Give whatever notice you feel is appropriate. ;)
It's hard to get citizenship here unless you marry an american. I would say stay in your country and look for a better gig.
I saw one H-1b visa holder Indian Programmer (Desperate) did marry an American woman ( who is a drug addict, alcoholic, lunatic & very fat ), just to get U.S. Green card. That woman is kind of social outcast from her own American community. !!! EASY path :) ... I would say , marry a Homeless American , begging on American streets & get a Green card. You will find many homeless women in Midwestern states (USA). The problem is .....you have to swallow your pride & become very low-standard to marry this kind of woman just for Green Card.
TTibus most states in the US are "at will employment" so you can quit with no notice. 😀
Lol..folks from the U.K. still have that "I live for the monarchy mentality".
I love my job , but I hate the boss
Go to work. Go home. Don't gossip with co-workers who are toxic.
What about referrals?
Truth man. I recently got hired at this job last week , but left the next week because the boss talks behind people's backs when he gets new recruits. Had a workplace injury and filed a claim. And said I was bullshitting him, got a call on the same day and the boss yelled and cussed at me and said I was talking out my ass because he didn't believe I got hurt on the job out of his fucking 2 decades of working in the industry, no employee has filed an injury claim before, and I guess I'm the first? Lol. Anyways I don't get any workers compensation even though it's my right in my country and there's laws regarding that. Can't even go pick up my paycheck since the day I'm writing this it's difficult for me to even walk at the moment. So fuck the wages, he can keep the money.
Is that Matthew Macanehay
I need advice. How can I contact you?
Haha you are funny man!!😀😂😂😂😂
+MichelleVa 77 Thanks!
Just quit as soon as you have something else lined up college, volunteering or another job just anything if the job is really shit.
Made to feel like sh*t from boss because I noticed a pay discrepancy, they haven't been paying me for rest breaks (they owe me back pay). Boss told me I need to give him a letter stating what hours etc, no sorry for the fk up, felt like he was blaming me.
Started going downhill after 8 months. My job is now being made redundant because of not enough work but he said he will rehire me as a permanent casual with same benefits as a full-time employee. 🙄 Fml
They cater to the very one's you report who give you the most trouble.
do you shop at target
Walk, like I just did.
I like you. I like your use of "fuck him" too.
Quit, and do it sooner, rather than later.
Wood country tisdale boss threatens violence and swears at employees.
I think the better option is to be your own boss. Most “Bosses” are idiots and sycophants to their own boss. Especially at Sprint Wireless. But honestly it’s a low end job.
My boss is incredible toxic
FUCK THE 2 weeks RIGHT LMAO
❤️
You are very handsome.
Thanks!
When it’s a lower leveled job 2 weeks is normal. When it’s a higher skilled and larger paying job, 1-3 months is normal.
Try working in Hawaii. Alot of the employers here are the exact same way. The business is ran by their emotions and sensitive egos along with illegal hiring and firing procedures.
Great advice. Would been even better with his shirt off.
