    What would you do when you think no one is watching? What Would You Do? (WWYD?) explores the varying answers with the help of hidden cameras capturing individuals who have been placed within seemingly everyday situation that quickly go ary. The individuals on this hidden camera show are forced to make tough calls when directly faced with situations of racism, violence, hate crimes, and other hot button cultural issues. Catch John Quinones reporting on these individuals as they make split-second decisions to intervene or mind their own business. WWYD? airs Friday nights at 9|8c on ABC.
    What Would You Do? (WWYD) is a hidden camera show, hosted by ABC News correspondent John Quinones, in which unknowing bystanders are placed in uncomfortable, and often compromising real world scenarios in public. WWYD’s hidden cameras focus on the average person’s responses and reactions to these issues of social responsibility. Topics such as gay couples being affectionate in public, date rape, racism and racial profiling, interracial couples, abusive parents, drunk driving, and harassment of the homeless are touched upon in this series. What will you do? Would you choose to intervene in these situations? Watch and join the discussion.

      Maricor Brandares they aren't condoning the abuse. What they are getting at is that in general, you shouldn't discuss personal issues in a public place. They can only do so much to help, but nobody is condoning the abuse I promise you that.

    To all parents out there,
    As a child I have a right to say what I am about to say. Do not ever compare your children to another person's child because it will lower their self-esteem and make them become depressed. It will make them feel hurt to a point where I do not want to speak of. So please all parents do not compare you children to others. They will feel less like your actual child.

      I get what you are saying but it should be obvious not to have private conversation in a public place. Just imagine you go out to chill and have a good time and you get pulled into someones drama and it ruins your mood. This show would never work in Germany, people would just stare at you and think (Look at these loud and rude Americans) lmao It is easy to spot the USA Tourists

    • @ellahanna6675
      @ellahanna6675 4 роки тому +22

      Exactly!! I get they’re trying to make a point by saying “take this somewhere else” or “do this in private”, but that’s honestly not okay in my eyes because why not say “don’t do this AT ALL” or “you should not be saying that to her!” Him doing that to her in private is no better than him doing it to her in public. He shouldn’t be doing it at all. The same goes for any situations like this.

But I learned to realize his dementia is not getting better and ignore his comments. I also took care of my mother in law with dementia for ten years and she was mean too. This stuff is real, believe me. Caregivers are constantly abused by their family members, every thing you do for them is wrong. It's a thankless job.

    • @Star3marie304
      @Star3marie304 6 років тому +51

      Olivia Mae that is so true. I'm sure their are exceptions but still. I have experienced the abuse myself. It was a nanny job. The mother would be working from home while I was caring for her two toddlers. She actually acted rude and mean towards me a few times, while I was trying hard to do a good job. And I knew I was because the kids loved me and I have a lot of experience teaching children and caring for them as well. Then the mother acted jealous of me which I thought was very weird. Short story is...she let me go, without giving me any concrete explanation. I was crying and so upset because I loved the kids and was happy with my job and also went above and beyond. The mother then gave me an envelope for me to pick up the next day. I opened it and i was scared to read it....it turned out to be a letter of recommendation for me so I could use it to try to get a new nanny job. It was a Glowing recommendation only saying super positive things about me and saying that I was nothing but patient, kind, and engaging, and telling the new family I would be an excellent addition. After she was rude, mean and jealous of me, I now think that the harsh realization is that even though she was the mom, she was in awe of how good I was with the children...how natural. There were many times I saw her with the kids bevause we were together all of us in the house and she lacked a certain maternal warmth and lacked giving affection to her kids. She was very "business like" and always wrapped up in her work. Which I totally get. I think she wished sometimes she could have been me? I don't know...I caught her looking at me in an odd way a couple times while I comforted her crying two year old son so quickly just by talking soft to him and gently rubbing his back...he stopped crying immediately. She was never able to stop her children from crying. They actually cried whenever she was with him. A lot of the times. I just knew how to soothe them. Idk, in her letter she said I had a natural gift with children. Maybe she was possibly jealous or something else? This was 4 years ago, but I still think about it now. I never got a new nanny job because I was so heartbroken about being let go.

      Well being a parent can be a thankless job as well. It's a cycle where parents become like spoiled children due to their aging brain. I'd much rather focus on all the years they took care of me than the way they are then and there. But what runs me the wrong way is relatives and even brothers and sisters who are not constantly there and taking care of the parent will always jump to tell the caregivers how wrong they are at everything. My mother and father had to deal with it taking care of my mother's father and mother. Not her sisters but other relatives who did nothing to help would share their unneeded rude opinions anyway. It's annoying as all hell. A sick person doing it is one thing but healthy people who are lazy and useless in the situation doing it grinds my gears

      @CountryBeautiful most of the times its rly the medication that's making them like that. Actually its breaking my heart to see so many comments attacking the old guy most likely because they never experienced having to take care elderly ppl with dementia. I experienced that with my grandmother and my grandma is really the sweetest and hardly complains ever. But as it got worse, it was taking a toll on her and she changed, got irritated for no reason even in public, and it broke my heart immensely because i know its not her, its the disease and i would never ever want people to call her out like that.

    • @Toyon95
      @Toyon95 5 років тому +1

      @CountryBeautiful As I understand they sometimes can give medication to keep them calm but there is no medication that will eradicate the symptoms fully (I've heard of medication that might slow the progression of the illness somewhat) It is an uncurable illness. They can become different people but the changes can vary. I guess it depends what parts of the brain the illness deteriorate first.

    This video really surprised me. I'm fourteen years old, and I have been taking care of my father all of my young life. He has mild anger issues, BPD, and his spine is almost entirely made up of herniated discs. My mom was always the money maker, so she was at work or cheating on my dad most of the day. I am emotionally distant just like her, and my father is very emotional and needs attention and support. I cannot provide that, and he is constantly telling me that I shouldn't change myself, but he wants me to start being 'nicer'. Now, I don't blame him or myself, I blame his disorders. He tries the best he can, but with us being homeless and traveling around and staying with people that I'm not comfortable with, it's very hard for me. I was always told that my life was good and that I could have it much, much worse. Seeing people step in like this with a situation similar to mine has just really made me rethink my life.

      You don’t have to take anything negative from anybody if they don’t appreciate you then forget them and leave them to learn a life lesson on their own!

    I was my 91-year old grandmothers caregiver, and she drove me insane. All she did was fuss and complain. My best was never good enough. I developed high blood pressure, and thinning, grey hair. Finally, after 2 years, I put her in a senior home. She passed away the following year. 😢
