Helene was the first bad Hurricane ive been around for living near Sarasota. Was doing work on a house on siesta Key, was offered to stay there for the Hurricane too. Got 4ft of water inside. All appliances, drywall, Peloton workout equipment trash. Doing a full gut there as well as 4 other homes now.
Hello Y'all, will be back as soon as we get our electricity back on... it's been really rough here where I live, all the water from Ashville came right down my way.....The Nolichucky wiped out years of memories for me, I'm one of the lucky ones, it didn't reach my house and I'm still alive and I don't worry about electricity and water that much, but there was an entire community completely wiped out across the river from me, this is the saddest thing that I have ever seen in my life, I have very spotty service right now since I don't have my fiber internet so I'm kinda on and off of here since I have to sit in the middle of my driveway just to be able to text and the bugs are awful so I guess I'll see Y'all when I can, Y'all take care!!!

They came down on Thursday, and we got up Friday with no power, I lost signal on my cell and I couldn't call my daughter in law to let her know we were okay, I'm a 67 year old woman and when I left to try and get a signal, that's when I saw the devastation and destruction it made me sick cause I've never seen anything like it...years of memories just washed away....and only one road to get out of here, There used to be 4....
I live in Louisiana. People pick on me over how bad my storm anxiety is with severe thunderstorms, tornadoes and hurricanes. These people have never been in a hurricane. I`ve been in way too many. There`s no way to predict how bad it will be in your area and we can`t just leave the state every time one comes. Where do you go with no money? Are we expected to evacuate and let everything rot in the fridge and freezer? And go WHERE?
@@SusanHarrell530 Look up hurricane Betsy. My dad and I got stranded in New Orleans in that one because of his job but we didn`t live there. His truck was destroyed and all the windows blew in on the hotel we were in. 1965. My area was hit twice in 2020. I had to stay outside in the heat and mosquitoes for 20 days because it was 120 degrees inside or more. 100% humidity and upper 90s each day.
May want to consider moving to another state, because the storms are only going to become more frequent. I'm from Florida, but lived in New Mexico for 2 years and met many people from Louisiana and Houston area who left because of storms. I accept them as a fact of life here in Florida, but it was nice not having to deal with them for a while.
Let's just pray for that frontal boundary. We don't even flex for tropical storms. I think I've watched like 4 potential hurricanes/tropical storms come into the gulf since the last hurricane. All of em destroyed by the sheer. I'm praying it stays that way, not for myself but for alk of those still without help North of us. Our government can send billions to other countries. And spend billions on illegals pouring in our country but can't do anything to help our own stuck and stranded in complete devastation after Helene. I'm so ticked off about it. It's pure evil the way they have and are still being done.

I live in Louisiana too and I have the exact same problem people think I'm just a coward but I've lost two homes in storms and almost my wife
