"Us old guys." LMAO. You can out door most people I know in their 20s!
I have a Nighteyes figure 9 carabiner that works similarly to that “wasp” contraption you have . Using that Biner with the prusik would make a very versatile piece of kit.
PS-My wife is also similarly challenged. Since she can’t tie a knot she ties a lot. She ties knots no sailor ever knew.
At 62 with rhuemtoid arthritis this is a good idea for myself. Handy n simple.. 👍
I use a nite-eze figure 9 instead of that red thing, use amsteel as the ridge line ,and use cord for the prussuk knots, brilliant way to set up for a tarp, I have carpull tunnel syndrome in both hands/wrists (was a carpenter for 25 years) and use this setup alot, saves intense pain in the outdoors, like the retractable reel eliminate as well though, shame we can't get onewind products in the UK, good health and safe travels my friend, cheers craig
Nice, I like it. I’m 59 & was always asked “ Can you open this “ because I could just about ripe a jar in half. Now I’m lucky to open the Ketchup Bottle.
You can do it!
I have one of them. It's so easy to put up a ridge line with it. Plus I put up my three pruset ( think I spelled that wrong) knots at the end.
That's a neat little tool. What I do when the cold get in my arthritic knuckles is use a locking truckers hitch instead of the regular one. You still have to tie off the tag end so things don't come undone. Makes it much easier.
I like that gizmo! Thanks for sharing.
You bet!
Didn't know One Wind had that. A couple of years ago I converted a chalk line box to do the same thing. Definitely gonna have to add the hook though. Great idea sir!
thanks
That's awesome Blackie! thanks!
Any time!
I'm over 50 myself so I understand about cold weather and Arthur Itis paying me a visit. I'll definitely keep this in mind. Thanks for the quick review!
That mockingbird has decided that he wants to be the star of your show. HAHA
I'm glad that you reviewed the "Nite-Ize Figure 9 Rope tightener" of which I am a big fan. They come in several sizes to match different rope diameters & pull strength requirements, & can be configured several ways; terminal, mid-rope & endless loop. I've also been a fan of many other Nite-Ize products for many years. I love knot tying, but I broke both hands 11 years ago & they haven't been the same since. I respect the company for their quality & continuous product development.
Thanks for the info!
Very practical tip. Thanks Blackie
Great piece of kit!
Good word for those that need it, thx for the vid.
I'm pushing 69 yrs old and this perfect! Thanks Blackie. ATB Sam Adler
Pretty slick product - gonna have to try it!!!
Blackie, this item reminds me of the old retractable home clothesline reel. Of course the onewind Tarp Mini Reel has that durable, hollow braid Dyneema cord with a rated breaking strength of over 250 lbs. Seems like a quick deploy, pre rigged ridge line for under $20 on Amazon. Any tip or trick that helps an old guy out is usually a good idea. Thanks for sharing. - Tennessee Smoky
look in the description box and use the code and safe 10%
Thanks ! A very good video !
Amazon is currently out of this item . I hope they get more in.
You know you're getting old when you have bushcraft ideas for arthritis. Lol
lol you got it
My mum used to have something like that for hanging laundry on
Brilliant 👏
I was lol when you said those words. Prussic and carabiner. It's all good. Stay Southern.
Thanks for the info I already have a no knot ridgeline system but I'm gonna definitely look into this 1 since it's and it's on carrying case don't get all tangled up with everything else definitely 54 years old and oh fumble fingers
Glad I could help
Man, isn't it true? 53 here and my hands hurt.
I wish when I was 35 someone would have told me I was middle-aged.
Great Tip Blackie.
GENIUS!
Very good idea brother. Thank you..! Another valuable nugget to succeed with..!
Glad to help
Good tip Blackie
Thanks for the video.
You are welcome!
Good tip. I was checking out how to use the ring system for hammocks
You bet! i may be doing a vide on it in near future
Great idea. I'll be using this one for sure.
I got mine to give to a friend with bad hands..i think its a good piece of kit
@@blackoracle69 Yeah, its starting in my wrists. My Dad told me the main cause of the pain in my joints... is birthdays. And I seem to be accumulating a lot of them.
Great for a knot challenged 60 yr old woman! Definitely checking this out! Thanks Blackie.
Rock on!
Adding that locking gizmo ( quick connect ) to any quick deploy ridgeline would speed things up and simplify the proceedure for anyone. thats a winning idea !
TO BE HONEST I NEVER HAD A USE FOR THEM TILL I DID THIS NOW I SEE THE VALUE
We in the south talk just fine, at least we can understand each other.😂 even be a clothes line. What is a crazy 8? I read specs on the 2.2 mm dyneema chord is rated at 1000 lbs breajing strengh. That so tough chord.
Well you got me lol, had to get it hope it does help. Will give it a try.
good idea
I’ve noticed old arthritis getting worse in my hands thinking going on 53 is too young for it. This is a handy tool to keep in your pack. Thanks for the heads up.
Right on
thank you sir great vidio
Glad you liked it
Those work great I been using them for years. Nightize calls them a figure nine I think. They are the brand I use
Thank you Blackie! Anything that makes life a little easier is always appreciated. Wonder if it would be hard to replace the line for something heaver? Ad says it is 250#. And Thumbs Up, as always, Sir.
You can do it!
You sold them out on Amazon Blackie. I hope they will come back into stock soon.
they will i sent message to company.. they will get more in
Where can you get the wind up Ridgeline where can you get that little Truckee hookup
Currently unavailable on Amazon following that link. Can you tell me the approximate cost?
I bought a couple of those clothesline reels. The cord is real stretchy. Does the replacement cord stretch much ??
it's UHMWPE so it doesn't stretch.. It's hollow braid 1.75mm line.
Blackie, you might want to fix the (ONEWINE RIDGELINE) spelling to ONEWIND in your description.
Nice way to do a ridge line. None of us are getting any younger.
You got that right!
Great suggestion for us ole farts thanks blackie for the tip
Does it come on that spool or did you have to wind it on?
comes on the spool all i did was add the loop for the red connector
its been cold and damp here in the CSRA this winter not that it isn't every winter but it seems more so this winter, So Ive stumbled on an idea that tickled my fancy and has eased my arthritic old hands and knees... Jungle knots Thanks to Neal at GreenCraft..
(ua-cam.com/video/QsJ9VspA7JQ/v-deo.html) 10 feet of line (could be #18 bank line or paracord) run the line threw a toggle stick (I've been using Japanese silk tree limbs about thumb thick and index finger long, hole drilled in the middle) then loop around to the other end tie an over hand knot in the end then loop the cord over your hand tie another overhand knot continue to do this until you work your way back to the toggle, make up several they make good ridge lines and tie out cords... don't have to tie a bunch of fancy knots. run your line around a tree tuck in the first loop go to the next tree wrap around you tree pull tight tuck an over hand knot in a loop. and there you are
I need one, can you get us a discount code please?

Lmas over Prusick pronunciation. I'm thinking ... cat. Hint hint lol
Lmas (sic) over YOU laughing at someone's pronunciation of a word you can't even spell!
Who you callin' old, kid?
They’ve already sold out.
dont worry they get more in
What a joke. Knowing HOW to tie knots, and I'm amazed how many of these YT camping experts don't know the PROPER way to tie a truckers hitch, is ALWAYS easier than these cheap and lame gimmicks, even for a geriatric.
