I have a Nighteyes figure 9 carabiner that works similarly to that “wasp” contraption you have . Using that Biner with the prusik would make a very versatile piece of kit.
PS-My wife is also similarly challenged. Since she can’t tie a knot she ties a lot. She ties knots no sailor ever knew.

I use a nite-eze figure 9 instead of that red thing, use amsteel as the ridge line ,and use cord for the prussuk knots, brilliant way to set up for a tarp, I have carpull tunnel syndrome in both hands/wrists (was a carpenter for 25 years) and use this setup alot, saves intense pain in the outdoors, like the retractable reel eliminate as well though, shame we can't get onewind products in the UK, good health and safe travels my friend, cheers craig

Nice, I like it. I’m 59 & was always asked “ Can you open this “ because I could just about ripe a jar in half. Now I’m lucky to open the Ketchup Bottle.

I have one of them. It's so easy to put up a ridge line with it. Plus I put up my three pruset ( think I spelled that wrong) knots at the end.

That's a neat little tool. What I do when the cold get in my arthritic knuckles is use a locking truckers hitch instead of the regular one. You still have to tie off the tag end so things don't come undone. Makes it much easier.

Didn't know One Wind had that. A couple of years ago I converted a chalk line box to do the same thing. Definitely gonna have to add the hook though. Great idea sir!

I'm glad that you reviewed the "Nite-Ize Figure 9 Rope tightener" of which I am a big fan. They come in several sizes to match different rope diameters & pull strength requirements, & can be configured several ways; terminal, mid-rope & endless loop. I've also been a fan of many other Nite-Ize products for many years. I love knot tying, but I broke both hands 11 years ago & they haven't been the same since. I respect the company for their quality & continuous product development.

Blackie, this item reminds me of the old retractable home clothesline reel. Of course the onewind Tarp Mini Reel has that durable, hollow braid Dyneema cord with a rated breaking strength of over 250 lbs. Seems like a quick deploy, pre rigged ridge line for under $20 on Amazon. Any tip or trick that helps an old guy out is usually a good idea. Thanks for sharing. - Tennessee Smoky

We in the south talk just fine, at least we can understand each other.😂 even be a clothes line. What is a crazy 8? I read specs on the 2.2 mm dyneema chord is rated at 1000 lbs breajing strengh. That so tough chord.

its been cold and damp here in the CSRA this winter not that it isn't every winter but it seems more so this winter, So Ive stumbled on an idea that tickled my fancy and has eased my arthritic old hands and knees... Jungle knots Thanks to Neal at GreenCraft..
(ua-cam.com/video/QsJ9VspA7JQ/v-deo.html) 10 feet of line (could be #18 bank line or paracord) run the line threw a toggle stick (I've been using Japanese silk tree limbs about thumb thick and index finger long, hole drilled in the middle) then loop around to the other end tie an over hand knot in the end then loop the cord over your hand tie another overhand knot continue to do this until you work your way back to the toggle, make up several they make good ridge lines and tie out cords... don't have to tie a bunch of fancy knots. run your line around a tree tuck in the first loop go to the next tree wrap around you tree pull tight tuck an over hand knot in a loop. and there you are

What a joke. Knowing HOW to tie knots, and I'm amazed how many of these YT camping experts don't know the PROPER way to tie a truckers hitch, is ALWAYS easier than these cheap and lame gimmicks, even for a geriatric.
