Hi guys- when I was in Turkiye in May this year I thought the fruit & vegetables were very reasonably priced & the quality was excellent- cheaper than here in Australia - I loved the turkish olives ( ate them every day) I now buy imported Turkish olives to enjoy here. Thank you again for your informative videos - ❤🤗🇹🇷🇦🇺

I live down the road in Dalaman. Like many countries, you just have to be careful. I'm always comparing the prices between the supermarkets and the open market. Sometimes the supermarket can be cheaper for particular items, but to be honest, the quality in the open market is so good. Beautiful fruit.veg, cheese, olives, spices. The fruit and veg in Türkiye is amazing.

Wonderful market..... Where I am (Western US) we do not have all these gorgeous veggies and fruits available at the store/supermarket (no outdoor farmers markets either at this time of the year) .... it's mostly delivered from far away states, chemically polished, and can not remember the last time I've eaten a fruit that smelled or tasted like anything !.... so I gave up on fruits! The same with most veggies, no taste/flavor and no real nutrition! And thanks to more recent immigrants, we have Pomegranates this time of year that are sweet. I am someone who grew up eating some of the best, delicious and sweetest produce in the world. A far away Mediterranean land. So I miss all that. Thanks for showing us all that gorgeousness. Stay safe.

Then you need to move to California. I know you might not like our politicians but we have best weather, fruits, vegetables and plenty of Turkish restaurants.

@@jhasemi LOL well I moved out of CA over a decade ago and NOT for political reasons !!! And I don't eat out, Turkish or other, because I cook from scratch! Being a Mediterranean person, I just need the good quality, non processed and tasteful/flavorful ingredients .... that's all ! Thanks for the suggestion :)

I live in Burhaniye, and find the prices a little bit cheaper for most things compared to this video and when I went to the main market in Fethiye last month. Obviously things grown in the south like bananas are cheaper, and over winter a lot of things will disappear here, though there will be heaps of weeds (turp otu, Şevketibostan, ısırgan otu) to tide us over. In any case it's incredible value compared to my former home of Australia. Thanks for the video, I didn't realise there was a market in Çalış Beach, I will definitely check it out next time I am there.

I am in South Eastern US and we do not get markets looking like this! Nor these prices. Our closest market the guy brings in boxed vegetables - same as grocery store - chemical treated and waxed and sells at farmers market as if fresh home grown. Event he eggs for free range are more than market and they use feed too. I miss the markets there in Türkiye - the food is soooo good and fresh and yes the cabbages are HUGE!

In 2011 I was living in New Zealand and went to a supermarket. As I was perusing around and came across the eggplants/aubergines. I looked at the price and saw it was $7.98. That was $7.98 not for a kilo or a pound, but for just one eggplant. It was at that time I realized that New Zealand was no place for a Greek and Turkish boy from Melbourne.

I respectfully disagree on that! I moved from Florida to Alanya. Prices on the bazaar are cheaper than in the US but not really when you are buying in the stores. Bananas are more expensive in Türkiye than in the US grocery store! Toothpaste is the same price as in the US store.

Compared to US prices these are about the same but per pound rather than kilo. Considering our salaries in USA your price are very expensive.
Also the price rise in the fruits and veg is far more than the loss in the lira value. Price gauging by the producers is totally unacceptable. The government should control that.

Excellent prices for fresh produce! Most prices are 1/2 to 1/4 of what I’d pay in a Florida grocery store! Even though we grow a lot local; prices tend to follow national brokerage marketplace. Your market: Lemons were a “steal”, and here eggplant only comes from California, so expensive and rare with shipping. I imagine produce in Türkiye is more expensive in winter when they ship to the rest of Europe. Enjoy!

When we are not there we watch videos!! One in particular is called Wanderlust Feet Vlog. She has two recent videos on market prices. One is from the main bazaar and the other is from the Thursday Organic Market which is supposed to be feom local farmers only. The prices on Thursday are usually a little higher. Anyway I thought you might be interested in comparing Kusadasi with Fethiye. Both kinda touristy! I would like to see someone post prices from a non touristy town!

All our food to eat at home came from Migros in Akyaka and the local market on Wednesdays, over a 6 week period this summer our total cost was significantly more than Tesco,s in the U.K over a similar period of time, the inflation was very noticeable this year,we have been here 18 years now,the restaurants have priced themselves out of the market currently,of course Akyaka is seriously overpriced.Marmaris restaurants were more reasonable.Turkish friends informed me that they often go to Greece now as better prices.
The tourism will revolve around all inclusive holidays which is a great shame as not helping the local communities and not seeing the true Turkey.

From what I heard, the place has become extremely popular among well off trendy Turks in recent years mostly because of kite surfing and all that stuff. Wherever these people go, prices tend to go up.

I just came back from 7 weeks in Turkiye and I'd say most prices are the same as the UK now and half the restaurants are more expensive then the UK. I can't see how the current inflation levels are sustainable. I was in Greece before Turkiye and Greece was both busier and cheaper. If the economy doesn't sort itself out I can see lots of bed spaces being available next year. We won't be returning in the short term for sure, it's just too expensive.

Regardless of prices, most vegetables and fruits exported to other countries from Turkey contain far greater pesticide amounts than most EU countries allow. So even vegetables and fruits are unhealthy. I don't why why it is that way, but that's just the way it is. I know a pear farm in Bursa and those pears are notorious for being dumped with pesticides. Same goes for other things like peaches and etc.

Recently come back from Lara Beach area near to Antalya and everything was expensive. they lose so much business trying to rip the tourist off. I was quoted between 15 and 25 Euros for fake tee shirts, not even good quality with poor stitching and made in Cambodia. I took money with me intending to buy a few but I wasnt paying that much so they lost out as I didnt buy any. I was told by a hotel worker the locals pay around 5 Euros or less for them.
Alcohol was more expensive that UK, Taxi wanted 20 Euros for a 2.5 mile/4km journey.
Airport prices are ridiculous, 3 Euros for a 500ml bottle of water, 6.5 Euros for a 500ml coke/fanta etc, 14.50 for a tube of Pringles.

We just spent 7 weeks in Turkiye and I totally agree with what you say. The quality of the fakes are so bad now too. I was offered fake Adidas trainers for £10 less than I could buy the real ones for. Meals out were also just a rip off. The Government has to get a grip of the economy or the place will be a ghost town next Spring
