- Hi everyone! It's been a while. So sorry for the lack of video updates! Hope to bring you a lot more soon!
Today we check out a professional baseball game at Koshien stadium which is the home team for the Hanshin Tigers. The Hanshin tigers is a team in the central league and has a very strong, vocal and dedicated fan base. Koshien Stadium is considered sacred by many and is the oldest ballpark in Japan. Some players even take the soil of the infield as they believe it to be sacred.
This is a video of what happens at every home game of the Hanshin Tigers, at the end of the 7th innings. It’s pretty crazy!
There is also a famous folklore in Japanese baseball legend. It’s know as the “Curse of the Colonel.”
After the Hanshin tigers had won the Japan series Championship in 1985 (which is the equivalent of winning a world series in MLB) many of the fans had jumped into the Dotonbori river in Nanba dressed as their favorite players. With their emotions overwhelming them, some of the rowdy fans had grabbed a statue of Colonel Sanders at a nearby KFC and threw him into the river. However Colonel Sanders was never found again…
Since 1985 the Hanshin Tiger had never again one a Japan series Championship and many fans still to this day believe that until Colonel Sanders is retrived from the Dotonbori River, they will be cursed to never win a title ever again…

Japanese "YAKYU" baseball was derived uniquely from American-style baseball and took more than 100 years to achieve.
The fact is that on this same planet, there is another baseball that exists in a different spirit than the US style.
Of course, the roots of baseball are USA(or UK), but baseball that was exported to other countries from USA and took root there developed in a different way. This would be a fact.
2023 WBC was the day that ”Japanese YAKYU” defeated the home of ”American-style baseball”.
Another way to describe this is to say that it was a battle between Japanese-style "ZEN-INｰYAKYU” baseball, which emphasizes "Teamwork among all players", and American-style baseball, which emphasizes "Individual power players", and it was a day when ZEN-INｰYAKYU (Teamwork-oriented organizational baseball) won.

I lived in Japan for 9 months before having to come home because of COVID, and I was looking into going to some baseball games before they got canceled for the same reason. Wish I could’ve gone!!!

@@michaeloffgrid Highly recommended. I got tickets on "Ticket Pia" You can also get them at conbinis like Lawsons or 7-11. Easiest might be to visit the stadium to buy tickets. Some games do get sold out. I learned that one time.
