Thanks Francie for another interesting podcast about your VinFast VF8 Plus. I am glad you bring up these important and relevant concerns for general ev supporters and the public in general. I am a Vietnamese American in California and a VinFast VF8’s very first few owners (leasers). I already drove more than 23k miles in about 14 months. My family and I have done everything a normal American family would have done with an EUV. I commute to work daily on California freeways. I hope you’ll install a level 2 charger at your home. It will make your ev experience 100x better.

My 2023 VinFast Eco now has 3K miles. I did require one trip to the dealership to reset a sensor.
I hope you’re able to take yours to Colorado in the winter. We took mine on a ski trip in Western NC and my GF accidentally offroaded it after dropping us off at the slopes. She said there were cars stuck where she turned but the VF8 just chugged on through.

@@heyfrancie The sensor(s) for lane centering IIRC. Like you, the driver assistance just stopped working. Service Center said something about the sensor(s) losing association/connectivity to one of the computers. They got the sensors and computer re-linked and no problems since.

Excellent, you are my generation. One night in a tent is fine, but never an EV. My idea of camping is downgrading from a Ritz Carlton or Four Seasons to a Radisson hotel.
Do a towing range test with it while you are in Colorado! I know that the Model Y and VF8 have similar towing capacities. 3500 for the Y and 3900 or so for the VF8.

Vietnam has complicated history from Vietnam war. Those Vietnamese fled the country to America after losing the war don't want Vietnam to develop. They made bad comments about Vinfast. That's why you see some bad commenters have Vietnamese names. Don't listen to them, try the car by yourself.

Francie, you didn’t tell us about your endeavors to get home charging, possibly at your apartment or condominium. Isn’t there a level 1 outlet at home you can use? 120V charging is effective if you always plug in when not driving, but it takes strong discipline.
I’d like to learn about the Vinfast user interface. What are its features, quirks, and speed?
Those of us who are your parent’s age, have no interest in car camping.
VF8 have camp mode,using high votl battery to run all. It takes 6-10%/night.
I’ve spoken on this before in other videos but it is simply not an option to charge where I live. Take my word for it! 👍 I’m happy charging at other properties I visit often!

8 kW L2 public charging is actually pretty good. I have used a lot of L2 public chargers in my area and they are mostly 5 or 6 kW. I celebrate if I get 7 kW charging. 😁

If you have an issue with the parking brake then take it in, . You act like the service center in Kentucky is 1000 miles across Country from Tennessee . You should do that on your way to Colorado. The 2024 VinFast has larger battery from CATL , charges faster and new software , multimedia screen very fast ..looks like VinFast actually listening to customers, Mach E screen still laggy, Teslas has recalls for steering all of a sudden stopping , (autosteer recall) , doors flying open during crashes etc..
teslas have all sorts of problems , safety issues..

The FSD Beta system may allow the vehicle to act unsafe around intersections, such as traveling straight through an intersection while in a turn-only lane, entering a stop sign-controlled intersection without coming to a complete stop, or proceeding into an intersection during a steady yellow traffic signal without due caution. In addition, the system may respond insufficiently to changes in posted speed limits or not adequately account for the driver’s adjustment of the vehicle’s speed to exceed posted speed limits. FSD Beta software that allows a vehicle to exceed speed limits or travel through intersections in an unlawful or unpredictable manner increases the risk of a crash.
Well, it charges 3X as fast as the Mazda MX30! Influencers are running up BEV costs by encouraging a specs arms race. Don't need 400mi range or 350kW charging.

Francie. Thanks for the update. Your home charging solution is not ideal. So I hope new rapid chargers become available for you soon so you do not need to rely on friend and family.

The Renault Scenic e-tech SUV has just been named "Car of the Year 2024", with a retail price of €36,000. Meanwhile, the price of the VF8 is USD 50,000. Vinfast is looking for ways to openly rip off consumers, while the VF8's spare parts come from China and the car is assembled in Vietnam for a pittance. The car is not well designed, so it is very heavy (2500kg) and consumes a lot of electricity. Not to mention that it is manufactured and assembled in China and Vietnam, two countries whose electricity comes from coal, which is very harmful to the environment. Currently, Vinfast's share price has fallen below USD 3 and the company has a loss of 2.4 billion plus the previous debt of 8.2 billion, so we don't know how long it will exist. In short, VF8 is a disaster for users and the environment.
So VinFast is still alive😉😄

The vf8 charges faster now with the new update I got 140kw but you need to go to a charger with about 350 amps to get this speed . electrify america and Canada works.

Car camping kit. I use my backpacking cooking kit more than my regular camping cooking kit. It's smaller, lighter, and uses less water to clean up after cooking. The 1970s vintage MSR stove in it is also bulletproof, but I guess in a pinch I can't steel gas from my Model Y battery if needed. 😜 Yeah, only run white gas in them due to the nasty additives in auto gas.
I also own a 1960s vintage Coleman white gas dual burner camp stove, but it needs new generator tubes every so often. It's also 20 times larger than the MSR. So it often gets left home.
I want to setup an induction stove cooking kit, but no big inverter on Model Y. I'd need a separate battery bank.
I have a 2.5" thick self inflating mattress I use in the back of my Model Y. I had it from my pickup bed camping days. I have a cheap sleeping bag that I invert and lay on top of it. I wrap all of that with a large flat sheet. Then I use a sheet and comforter over me. That permanently inhabits the driver's side of the back. It gets rolled up if I need the back seat.
I have a quiet ICECO compressor based refrigerator that I can sleep next to.
Clothing goes into packing cubes and duffel bags.
Don’t know if like in the UK there are Tesla Superchargers that can be used by anyone. See what the Vin Fast like on those. Maybe meet Jordan and Kyle at a Buckeys and show what the food like. Do they do a decent breakfast?! Is there decent hotel chain deal can pre book like can in the UK (cheaper the earlier you book it). Also maybe film chat with your Dad about all the Tesla’s he’s had.

I'm trying to get as much info on all EV's as possible. Thanks in advance for the upcoming Vinfast videos and one more thing..I live in Knoxville TN and the charging situation in the area for non-Tesla's isnt very good..

Hi Francie I may have missed it in the video when you first got this vehicle, but being a lease isn't there some kind of restriction on miles? You seem to be doing a lot of driving in it which is great and plan to be doing even more which is even better but is there some kind of limit on miles per year for that vehicle under that lease?
Yes the leases came with either 10k or 15k miles per year. VinFast only has a little over 1,200 miles on it right now and by the end of summer it might have 3-5k so we’re well within our limits!
VF8 Model 2023 battery used SDI tech from Samsung. VF8 Model 2024 battery used CATL tech. CATL battery charges faster than SDI
One of the safety mission is avoid to catch battery fire from over heat inside. So, monitoring High volt battery condition must be controlled
ONE PEDAL MODE is the biggest reason to get sick and dizzy. I and vinfast owner cars complain and request to modify / adjust to reduce effective. Now, all my passengers are very comfortable even car sick

I'd love to see an implementation of a 16 amp/240 volt charging setup using the Orange Charger NEMA 6-20 outlet for renters/landlord interest. I think it a viable solution but would like to see the hurdles in the process of installing such a system.
I found this in a search. I included 30A circuit too. You will still be limited by wire size for distances...Nice option though.. The wiring might be there already and you would only need the outlet, circuit breaker, and adapter for the car charger. Best to be a dedicated circuit and not shared.

VF8 portable charger is 7.7Kwh ~ 220v 35A. If your house have washing machine and dried machine, it's suitable for Vf8 portable charger. You need to setup up to 26-28A, the system will be worked fine
@@lakefiftyseven yes, I like that 16A can often already use standard wiring, avoiding costly running of thicker gauge wire and then simply change outlet and breaker if dedicated circuit. I'd love to see the collaboration between landlord and tenant with likely a very inexpensive EV charging solution that would work for both parties.

An 8 kW L2 public charger is actually pretty good. There are a lot of 5 or 6 kW L2 chargers in my area (if they are working). I celebrate when ever charge at a L2 that gives me 7+ kW. Glad that you are making public charging work in your area despite its challenges. Keep up the good work.

The major issue about this vinfast car is accu 12v shut down anytime . They should replace it with better quality , I don’t want my car be shut down on highway

Not fake news. 12V battery was a problem and my battery was replaced once. There is also a message on my screen asking to service the 12V battery soon. Already called the dealer and they said that the system needs to be recalibrated. 1h service.
