I've been driving a VF8 Plus for over 6 months, without any problems. The EV has been great and reliable so far. About 5 days ago on 8/11/2024 in Florida, a Tesla Model 3 for some unknown reasons lost control leading to a multi car crash killing 2 people and injuring 3 others. On 8/05/2024, a crash and fire involving a $99K Tesla Cybertruck, killed the driver instantly in Texas. In my opinion, no EVs including Tesla are perfect, but Vinfast VF8 has been a great EV that helps get me safely from point A to point B without breaking my bank.

Jordan, Francie, its incorrect to say that OTA isnt something vinfast does. My latest software update about 7 weeks ago, I was surprised to get an onscreen popup saying new version software automatically downloaded and ready to install. So i did. And it worked great! Maybe its just in Canada so far, and i have the subscription 4g service activated. But its definitely a thing. My first two software updated were at the dealership.....but this one was full OTA. I anticiapate it will be network wide soon.

As an EV and ICE owner, I feel that an EV is more likely to leave you stranded when it fails because it has so many fewer parts there isn't much that can go wrong in the electrical or motor system that won't automatically shut down the whole vehicle, and even software glitches will shut down the vehicle entirely. In an ICE vehicle, quite a bit can go wrong and yet the vehicle still drives, albeit roughly.

@Weezedog As an EV and ICE owner, I feel the exact opposite, the ICE is more likely to leave you stranded when it fails because it has so many critical parts to fail and software glitches will shut down the vehicle entirely in any 2024 model so limping along will not be any more likely. The EV drive quality is much better than an ICE vehicle.

@@kelviskelvis7140 I own 3 pre-2010 vehicles with a combined 780,000+ miles. Two of which we purchased new. Neither has ever been stranded due to a mechanical issue. All with original drivetrains. (2 Toyota, 1 Honda)
The few times either has been stranded has been due to either a 12 volt battery that could no longer be charged, or an alternator that could no longer produce electricity.

I have had starters go out battery problems water pumps, fuel pumps fuel pump filters timing belt breaks timing chain chain issues. It's not even fair to compare the two I've had so many other issues with my ice vehicle than with my EV. I can say that some of those issues I could limp the gas cars but at a cost that might further damage the vehicle. I have yet to have a problem with my EV.

Ironically, I live in Wichita, and I had a similar service situation when I bought a Genesis GV60 in July 2022. Back then, the car was only sold in 4 coastal states. When I bought it in Long Island, they didn't mention anything about how no other Genesis dealers aside from those who sold it would be allowed to perform warranty service on it. I assumed that I could take it to the local Genesis dealer if needed. Turned out that was not true, and by the time I first needed a repair, Genesis trucked it out to Denver on their dime. Denver botched the fix not once, but twice. I took mini vacations out there on the second and third repair trips, so at least there was that. Also, the powertrain on that car was rock solid, never left me stranded. Still. The local dealer can finally work on it as of this spring, but I already traded the car for a BMW i4 in frustration. As for the VF8... I've seen several of them driving around Wichita. We have a large Vietnamese immigrant population here, so I would guess that's why we got a dealer and service center.

Recalibrating the battery is like installing a new battery in a BMW; you have to tell the car’s OS (I did that on a 2014 X1). The car adjusts the rate of charging the battery according to its age; to protect from over stressing (frying) an aging battery.

So on your way from NC to TN the Vinfast, while charging, got hot and told you to pull over immediately and leave the vehicle like you were driving. Then, after charging in CO, the Vinfast got a hot spot started cooling and forgot that it was no longer charging and no longer hot, no longer knew to disconnect high voltage battery. Charging is basically the windows blue screen of death for Vinfast. I have had a couple instances in my '23 Chevrolet Bolt, if you try to shift before the screen boots up, it will not allow you to shift, basically like a misfire of the high voltage battery contacter and the car will not shut back off. The remedy for this is to press and hold the start button, or walk away from the car with the keyfob and wait till the car times out(about 20 minutes) which reboots the Bolt. It is a rare occurrence, but I have seen youtube videos of vloggers having to have the car towed. Sometimes computers don't boot up right. All cars should have a reset button. Even ICE vehicles have sophisticated electrical saftey systems that rely on computers

Roadside assistance helps with that whether through insurance or if the manufacturer includes it but still usually has distance limitations. It’s the first thing I check before buying a brand… where are their service locations and how distributed are they.
Secondly. Is vinfast paying for comment bots or what’s with the strange white knighting I see on vinfast videos that expose real concerns? Strange.

Unfortunately, I have no scientific evidence that another "Carrington Event" did not contribute to the electrical issues. I DO NOT believe that encasing the vehicle in a Faraday Cage would solve any of the problem. (She wants me to build a Faraday Cage around our house). I DO NOT believe the shifting magnetic field has anything to do with the issues. I do think Vinfast will figure it out soon. Hang in there. I hope that, at some point, Vinfast will give you a good report on what they find. In the meantime, have an emergency backup plan. And stay positive.

media channel about cars but doesn't understand anything about cars or read the manufacturer's instructions carefully. Do these people even call themselves car review experts??? so ridiculous!!!!

I do not think they do call themselves "car review experts". I believe there point is to present an experience a typical car buyer might have. Most car buyers do not read their owner's manual.

VinFast không cập nhật phần mềm qua internet để bảo đảm không bị lỗi khi nâng cấp vì 4G ở Mỹ không ổn định tùy khu vực !

I don't accept that. Vinfast could easily perform an integrity check on all downloaded updates before installing them. Any update file that got corrupted on download can be redownloaded and checked again.
What about updating over W-Fi? Why not do it over the owner's home network? What if the owner has a 5G phone? They could use it as a hotspot for the VF8.
