Thanks for the video. If you seat the oil filter in the plastic oil filter housing first, you can easily screw it back on. And yes, lube the O-Ring with fresh oil before you re-install. You can also put a box or something similar under the oil drain pan to get it closer to the filter, so it doesn't splash. Then drain the engine oil.
I'm thinking about getting a used 2012 Panamera after I hopefully get my first big boy job after I finish school so been looking at a lot of videos on this car model. Thanks for this
@@Coolhand69 If it were me, I'd reuse the old plug with a fresh washer. There's no real good reason you should have to change a drain plug every time. I just know when I went to re-thread, it felt like I was going to ruin the threads on my oil pan and I didnt want to chance it.
@johneldorado I've been using the old Brian plug for 6 years now. Can't find a new one that isn't messed up. I think they are trying to get us to damage the oil pan so we'd have to buy a new one? Thanks for Watching!
Thank you for a great video! Has anyone tried to seat the cap on the oil filter first, and then put both the cap and filter together into the housing to avoid that uneven threading issue you had?
I was just being too gentle with the new oil filter. If I were to push it on a little harder probably wouldn't have had any problems. I just didn't want to damage the element filter since it was my first time
You need a scanner to reset the oil service. I got mine from Ebay. It's called icarsoft. You can order it with Porsche specific software include. I paid $150.
I picked up an OBDll scanner on eBay that reads all manufacturers plus it has special Porsche only functions. It will reset all service notices plus a lot more for $149.
To change the Transmission fluid the car needs to be level. So a lift is necessary. Plus you'll need Porsche's dealer software to fully drain the old fluid from the transmission. After that it's a simple refill. Thanks for Watching!
Your video is really helpful, so thank you! Can you please put the links for the small accessories like oil plug, oil filter and washers? Are they original Porsche parts or did you get them off ebay? Does the manual have any info about that?
I have always used OEM Porsche parts. I spent some time searching the internet for the Porsche factory part numbers for the parts I need, then I search the part number on the internet to find the best price. Sometimes eBay, sometimes Amazon and sometimes dealer website's. The prices very greatly so shop around. Thanks for watching
The OEM Porsche filter is a rebranded Mahle OX254D4. It's exactly the same filter. If you buy it from Porsche it costs $30 and doesn't include the o-ring.
You'll need a scan tool with Porsche software added to reset oil and other service lights. Can get them on Amazon or Ebay for around $150. Thanks for Watching!

Your very welcome. Good luck and Thanks for Watching!
Great job, clear concise and well filmed. Thankyou!!

Good video. I replace the drain plug every two oil changes personally. If the allen head has any play, I replace it. You don’t want to stripe it.
Thanks for watching.
I found the "new" drain plug to have the same problem, almost wouldn't thread in properly, so I reused the old one.
Planning on doing mine this weekend, hopefully the new plug won’t give me this same problem

Great vid, many thanks. Hoping you will do the air filters soon. I would really like to do mine but I'm not sure how to attack it. Peace brother
Will you make a video for transmission fluid change ?
I guess I can when it needs it. Might be awhile. Car only has 40k miles. Thanks for watching.

Thank you for this video. How do I reset the oil change light?
The oil change light has to be reset through the OBII port with a scan tool
@@mikeshorsepowergarage7577 $5 says the dealership will charge me $500 to do that haha.

you forgot to lubricate O ring of filter housing cap
Thanks for bringing it up. I lubed it before I installed it on the filter housing but forgot to mention it. Thanks for watching!

It's better to take it to the shop
Me as a shop owner, i agree, but as a car owner that know how to turn a 🔧 i highly recommend learning basic car maintenance and do it yourself!!!
That's whole lots of work just to get to the oil plug 🤦♂️
Its not, an oil change can take 10 minutes if you have all the tools prepped.
