A custom in Austria is to remove the Christmas decorations on 6th January . Three Holy Kings public holiday in a catholic country . Lovely decorations you've got 😍
I don't know when everything changed. The in thing now is the day after Christmas to take everything down. I remember years ago when I was younger, Christmas to Epiphany was more celebrated. Friends and family would stop in casually during this time, and everything didn't seem so rushed. Miss those days. Now today, Christmas starts the day after Halloween and Valentine's the day after Christmas.
My family is originally from Germany, and we always waited until January 6th to remove the decorations, so I can enjoy them a little longer. Can't wait to see the piano room finished!
Although we keep our decorations up until we celebrate Epiphany on January 6, you made me want to organize all of our decorations as I take them down. Thanks for all that you share with us.

It's an old house. Unfortunately, old houses are being overly modernized or torn down because of lack of knowledge about them. People just want a house so they buy one and paint the wood or tear it out for more modern and clean lines. Many of these old houses are very expensive to heat, cool, insure, and maintain so they end up in really bad condition and people want to tear them down... because the don't realize that these houses were made to last and can be saved and restored in almost all cases. Fortunately, the garden answer family appreciates and respects what they have.

Seeing your mums decor in a recent video was so lovely and it’s was heart warming to see where you get your love of Christmas. We’re in the tropics in Australia so packing away Christmas in the middle of summer is not as much fun! 😊
Hi Laura, great job girl! My little sister had hers all done and put away two days ago also...but she teaches so good for her! I on the other hand leave my decor up until after the New Year. You just never know who will drop in at our place, decor and company during the holidays is always fun! Hagd!
Trying to remember back to being younger, when my kids were 4 or so, and couldn’t imagine, even them, having energy like Laura’s. Accomplished so much in so little time. All good stuff.
Love your storage area! How wonderful when it’s all organized, labeled and easy access. Loved seeing your little helper! It’s so wonderful how both of your children are such pleasers! ❤️
I'll start taking it all down after Jan. 6. It takes me a couple of weeks to get everything packed up. It's amazing how much stuff we've accumulated over the years. I donate boxes every year. I save them until November and donate right before the holidays when people are looking for Christmas items. It seems as much as I try to organize and donate, the Christmas collection just grows and grows, but I love it all!
In Puerto Rico we love Christmas a lot. We start Christmas decorations after Halloween and take down the decoration by January 20 others wait until February 2. When we have the celebration Candlemas, is celebrated on 2 February and marks the return of light, a symbol of protection and prosperity. This Christian festival commemorates the presentation of Jesus at the Temple of Jerusalem, referring to him as the light of the people of Israel. Falling exactly 40 days after Christmas, Candlemas (or the Feast of the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary) was observed as the official end of Christmas in medieval England.
Laura I’d love to be able to grow those pear shaped gourds so if you ever run across a site that sells them could you post it please. Also wanted to mention that those orange slices that you hung on your Hartley tree were literally the topping on the tree cake. They glowed❤ amongst all the other lovely decorations. A real stunner.
I just received the 2023 RH Shumway seed catalog and there are seeds for pear-shaped gourds on the last page of the catalog! I’ve never heard of this company until now.
Great video! It’s so nice to put away the decorations and prepare for the new year. I’m a little concerned about all the comments about when it is appropriate to take down Christmas decor, particularly the comment that suggested that people who take decor down before January 6th are “pretend Christians”. How a person worships Jesus and celebrates his birth is personal and doesn’t require decorations at all.
WOW!!! Your storage attic is the stuff of an organization dream! I imagine Paul and Bethany love their jobs, it shows because they are so enthusiastic and good about getting things done!

Am I the only one who is exhausted watching Laura work?? Where do you get all your energy?? Lol!!
I loved this video Laura! It was awesome to get a little last minute tour of your Christmas decor this year.
Hagd!
I will watch this when Christmas is over, after Jan. 6.
Trying to remember back to being younger, when my kids were 4 or so, and couldn’t imagine, even them, having energy like Laura’s. Accomplished so much in so little time. All good stuff.
I was eyeing Samantha Grace emptying that gum ball machine! She is so cute! ❤❤
I’m also amazed at how independent Benjamin and Samantha Grace are while you are working. They always seem content just playing by themselves! 😊
I hope Aaron knows how lucky he is to have you!💕
In Puerto Rico we love Christmas a lot.
I so loved the oranges too!
I put off taking down my own decorations and sat here and watched you take down yours, lol. Happy New Year!
Love love cleaning and organizing videos in winter . So motivating! 😄
Agree!
Christmas is too pretty to take down so soon. Going to enjoy mine for awhile
Morning Everyone 😀
Love organizing! But my favorite thing was watching little Samantha eating all the candy from the gumball dispenser. LOL
we love all you do, continue to bring us along!
WOW!!! Your storage attic is the stuff of an organization dream! I imagine Paul and Bethany love their jobs, it shows because they are so enthusiastic and good about getting things done!
Laura, You have so much energy! I used to be like you. Lol, Now I am down to a townhome and 1 box of Christmas decor. Decluttering is helpful, and this is the best time of year to do this.
