"Silky smooth, even in junk waves, and possibly our fastest board yet, The Red Tiger is John John Florence’s new High Performance Shortboard unlike anything we have released in the past. It is the ultimate performance machine for medium sized, slower, weaker waves, based on John’s simple guidance - ”make it Fast and Fun”.
The idea for this board was hatched when John began riding some different “fun” boards during some breaks from competing. By far his favorite in the last year has been our new flat rockered, Funformance board, the White Tiger (5’6’’), and he asked me to turn that design into something he could take back on tour to ride when the surf was less than pumping, or on the weaker side...Ride your Red Tiger around an inch shorter than “normal” HPSB, and a bit wider. Volume should be close, but go up a ½ to1 litre for added zing in weaker waves."-Jon Pyzel

You killed it on your back hand
Lovely surfing mate. I had an RT ready on the board builder and this review made me hit the order button. Cheers, can't wait for mine to be done.
Enjoy! 🤙
Epic video mate! I'm about to review some boards on my channel from a local shaper so I came in search for some inspiration and guidance haha. Loved the quality and structure of this 👏🏽
Yeah I’m a bit different to most of the reviews out there. 😂
Cool board!! Cool surfing!! Cool review!! Thxxxx dude/broski/mate!! HAPPY SURFING FROM VB/VIRGINIA BEACH!!
Thanks!! Glad you like the channel.
Great video and review, definitely surfed really good on it and you can see the board gets loose when you put your foot right back, RIPPING 👍
🙏🤙
"The scent of sheep poo blowing off the desert", didn't know you were so poetic lol.... 3:11 Yewww 😀🤙
Man of many talents 😂
Sick review as always, looked on fire on ya backside, spray for days. I looked at some in store, by eye the tail plan shape seemed dead straight after the slight hip in front of the fins, wonder if that with the cluster changed ya back foot placement, but looks like it definitely works under ya feet. When they going send ya a Dark Arts version for a comparison? Saw some Aus shapers look like they about to get in on carbon too. Getting ya mitts on any carbon boards soon? Be interested to see a carbon tech review. Did ya stay with a neutral fin the whole time or try the JJFs in it for the full JJF experience?
Hi mate
Yeah could be the reason I liked it off the tail.
Just surfed it with the medium Legacy Neutral.
I haven’t had a carbon board as yet.
Dark Arts are definitely on the way into Australia.
I have a JS Carbotune locked in for October.
Thanks for the review Wooly,Yew! Looks like you’re getting some decent waves . 1-2 foot here 😢
Yeah I was lucky to get this one done while I was away on a trip!
Hey mate,
Would you consider this an everyday board? Mostly surfing beach breaks 2-4ft. Got a groveller and a performance shorty, looking for something in between.
Cheers legend
For me it was more of a performance board. I liked it in good quality waves over shoulder high. Maybe check out Noel’s (Surf N Show)review on it as sometimes we have different opinions.
Your backhand looked rly good on this board
Thanks!
thats some spicy percussion set + surf
🙏 yeah the guys did a great job with the beats this episode
@woolytv, as a taller person super appreciate your reviews, any plans to try a pyzel precious?
Thanks mate. It’s not on the radar at this stage but I do have a Pyzel Radius Prime on the way.
Could this replace the pyzalien in someones quiver, seems like it fits kinda the same niche. Any preference?
Yeah I enjoyed the P2 but I prefer the Red Tiger 🐯
Have you ridden the phantom? How do they compare? Cheeeeers 🎉
Sorry never had a Phantom
2:55 woah that turn must've felt good, rails!
Yeah that one felt sick!
Hey wooly how does the red tiger feel compared to the monsta 10? Was under the impression red tiger was more of a smaller wave board and was looking to add one to the quiver to ride under the monsta but maybe there’s too much overlap there. Thank cheers mate!
Hi mate
For me yes there is too much of an overlap. I usually jump on the Monsta in very similar conditions to what I liked the Red Tiger in. Shoulder high and up and good quality waves.
Maybe have a look at a Xero Gravity or if you want more of a sub standard surf the White Tiger.
@@WoolyTV you’re a legend. Your reviews and feedback help tremendously. Thank you!
@@jac8564 no worries 🤙
Great review! I’ve got a 6’2 as well here in CA. Curious what fins your running in the board?
Hi mate
I found the Futures Neutral Legacy mediums to suit 🤙
Great Video, Red Tiger or Ghost for midle age surfer?
I wouldn't ride a Ghost unless the surf was way over head. The Red Tiger would be a much better option in chest to overhead surf.
That water color is so insane
Yeah it was.
Shredding mate! Which did you prefer this or the Xero Gravity? Both look sick under your feet.
Hi mate, I liked both of them! I think the Red Tiger will need a slightly bigger wave to get the most out of it, the Xero Gravity will grovel down better.
@@WoolyTV Epic cheers mate! Keep the reviews coming.
What do you personally like better? The Red Tiger or the JS Zero gravity?
Hi mate
Pretty different boards.
Red Tiger loves a wave with push where the Xero Gravity still performs in waist high and up.
P2 or rt? what board you like more? Payzelian 2 or red tiger?
i cant dicied
Its been along time since I did the P2 review but I think I liked the RT better than the P2 in the chest high stuff. Both work well in overhead surf.
@@WoolyTV thanks
Have you tried the white tiger yet, if so any thoughts?
Sorry havent had one as yet.
Can you review that too ?
@@trotts1885 probably will do closer to summer
Wooly ~ check out a band called "All Them Witches" ,. would sound mean in one of your surf vid clips couple songs "Mountain" , "When God Comes Back" , "Diamond" , "Enemy of My Enemy"
Will do!
Wooly, my australian long haired brother.
I have the exact same height/weight, considering a red tiger in 6´1 x 19 7/8 x 2 11/16 x 34,8l - EPS
For 1-5 ft waves.
Too much volume?
I found those DIM's perfect. Really depends what your used to ridding
I say No. I went over volume on my xtr RT and it will go 1-8’ . Haven’t found the extra volume to be a problem at all
did wooly surf like john john? yes, yes he did!
Ha ha, I wish
how small do you think you could surf this board, and what board would you recommend for 1-4 feet?
For the size I had I would say chest high would be my call and that would have to be a good quality wave.
If you want to surf it smaller then I would go an EPS
what board would you recommend for 1-4 feet?@@WoolyTV
What type of waves? Any particular brand?
I think An everyday board for 1-4 and I'm an intermediate. For the brand, I'm open to any suggestions. And thanks for responding quickly! @@WoolyTV
@@jimmypurchas4140 Red Tiger but I would go EPS.
JS Xero Gravity
JS Xero
Channel Islands Happy Everyday.
🤙
How is it vs the Happy everyday?
Happy Everyday feels like it would have a better smaller wave range. I liked the Red Tiger once it got over chest high. Both excellent boards but if I was surfing smaller waves more regularly I would probably go the Happy Everyday as it’s wider.
Awesome video. Where do you live Wooly?
I float between Mandurah and Perth in WA but this was filmed while I was away on a trip.
Can you please review the pyzel precious
Its not in the list at the moment but it could be down the track.
This or pyzalien 2 for daily driver?
Probably this one over the P2
I found the P2 better in quality overhead surf. The Red Tiger would surf down better but it still needs a good wave to get the most out of it. Maybe go an EPS for a daily driver version 🤙
Which do you prefer the Red Tiger or Happy Every Day?
I liked both of them. Red tiger out surfed the HE in overhead surf. HE beats the RT in under head high waves.
@@WoolyTV thanks for the reply/advice, much appreciated 🤙
how tall are you?
Hi mate
Just over 6’1” - 187cm
Open 🎤 review...Nice
Yeah the guys doing the edit snuck that stuff in there :)
Doesn't every board turn with your back foot right at the back of the board? 😳
Hmmmmm not really. I find that most of my thrusters I stand between the cluster of the fins. This one I liked it when my foot was right back over the rear fin.
I very rarely stand with my foot up against the tail block of the pad.
@@WoolyTV A lot of these boards have no V in the tail. If you make them just a bit too long you face plant every time. Not for my liking!
Thanks for the review. Always entertaining 🤓👍
