Wow.. I noticed that it only had 95k views as of 4-2016.. so its around 3 yrs old. This stuff is insane. It will probably only be understood when these things start impacting peoples lives as products. Kind of like the internet in 1989.. no one even had email on the radar and google would be like science fiction.. "yea that internet thing might come in handy...but I already have a fax machine.." I can't wait to see what comes next. ..thanks Fiorenzo, keep up the good work.
This TED Talk blows my mind... Amazing!
this is amazing! how is this not all over the material science world? medical world?
Amazing staff my namesake Fiorenzo 💪🏼
I work with silk fibroins. Amazing talk.
I do wish that these sorts of things came with ANY links to actual published research. Not saying this doesn't or won't work, but I'd love to know the Actual "state of the art" of these things at present, whether any of them are in production, have reached clinical trials, etc. or not.
This is so freaking amazing
I did a project in this spider silk for school. This video really came in handy.
Man, if all this stuff is really true this is incredible!
Hope that silk cups will become cheap enough to totally replace polystyrene!

Can I be mummified in silk when I die?
+Christian Guevara It's biodegradable, so... Kinda, but it'd serve little point. Maybe you can treat the silk to not biodegrade, though, i don't know.
Wow, this must have been what it was like when plastic was first introduced.
This liquid silk + the micro layers of graphing, new super conductors that work under water?!
Hemp, because silk does not grow on field. And you can build house out of it.

The question now is, is it economical. Solar panels are dead useful but they wont be truly economical for another 5 - 8 years. What is the timescale? that is what we must now ask.
so what happened? This silk material works or not?
still using plastic 👀
So this is a synthetic silk?!
