    I like seeing you learn on the fly - it’s the best way! When wood filler’s too light (even if it’s ‘stainable’), you can use an artists brush and ‘pre’-apply the stain (or even a slightly darker color) to the wood-fill spots, let it dry, and then stain the rest. Great job though!!! Veneering ain’t for the faint of heart and you just went for it… I watch your videos for your delivery, humanity, talent and drive to learn. You also have the best grammar on UA-cam!! (Hope that doesn’t make me weird…😂🤣😂🤣). Look forward to next time!

    • @eboneescreativity
      @eboneescreativity  2 роки тому

      Normally, I'd never try to stain any wood filler but I wasn't sure what else to use. I've heard sawdust and wood glue make a stainable filler but 🤷🏾‍♀️ ...maybe next time I'll try your tip or the colored filler. You are correct! Veneering is NOT for the faint of heart. I DEF have a new level of respect for restorers! Thank you (about my grammar🤣)! I can barely watch some folks because of how they speak...so if it's weird; I'm weird, too!🤣
      Thanks for watching!

    First of all, I LOVE how brave you are to show a first restoration project. I am completing my first restoration project, and I am having some issues with leveling, because I sanded the veneer off of the furniture. I wish I had seen your video before I started. Also, I learned the hard way that wood filler, even it it says it can be stained, doesn't. I had to sand the areas down. I am restoring my grandmother's empire style buffet, and I plan to replace all the veneer. I loved how you showed the easiness of using the stick-on veneer--I saw a much more complicated way, so I don't feel quite as intimidated now. I live in a rural area of WY, so I do not have access to woodworking stores except to travel 2-1/2 to 3 hours to Salt Lake City, so I will be looking for my supplies online. What brand of veneer did you use?

    • @eboneescreativity
      @eboneescreativity  Рік тому

      Thank you!
      I wish there was a wood filler that could stain evenly!
      The brand is Sauers and Company Veneers.
      Good luck on your project!

    Ebonee I learned soooo so much from you. I didn't know about peel and stick veneer or that clever way you did the template, smart! I love seeing your apprentice learning and working along side you too. I think you were smart to snatch this piece off the curb for sure. Or did it snatch you? Lol. It's front legs are irresistible. Your project turned out very well. Even though you say the veneer looks a little patchy, I think it just looks like an authentic old piece. You might want to invest in a brayer. It is a small roller that can be used for the veneer as well as decoupage and a variety of things. I think I gave about $5 or $6 for mine on Amazon. I believe your mother will be very pleased. Most moms love getting something made with their child's own hands...no matter how old the child is.
