Yikes, they don't hug their kids? That means most of their physical interactions with their kids is when they're being punished. Imagine the only physical contact you've had with your mother is when she's beating you with a rod.

I think it's okay if it's the kids choice, like for instance if they aren't fond of physical contact. But yeah, if they're getting smacked that's not great....
The sad reality is older siblings are always expected to be free nannies. When I was in elementary school, I had a friend who was always responsible for her younger sister. She had to take her everywhere, even on play dates.
Exactly. Maybe don't have so many damn kids that you can't take care of them all. Kids are not nannies. They should be kids for as long as they can. She's literally making these kids grow up so fast that they don't even realize whats happening.

i don’t agree with anything she says really but i am proud of her since she has come out with the fact that she had a severe ed & suffered heavily from bulimia in her younger years. so i’m happy for her for overcoming that, everything else is...🤢
I disagree. I think saying all girls suffer from body issues just normalizes hating your body. If you have body issues, that is ok, but it shouldn't just be an expectation.
@@rachelk4805 it probably could’ve been worded better. i think what michelle was (hopefully) saying was that too many little girls suffer from body image issues and there’s no reason to feel guilty over eating enjoyable food. but yeah, you’re right. we shouldn’t tell young girls that they’re basically weird if they don’t hate themselves.

I'll take it a step further and say I got the vibe during the bees talk with the son, that the father was molested by his doctor who 'taught him and his wife everythong' and wrote a book. He passed this book to his son.. As if his son is a virgin, the dad should have been aware he is not seeing he's constantly watching porn and flicking with the family. The dad knows, sees he's completed the cycle of abuse by passing on his own issues and giving this illusion of power to his son. Ew.
Michelle being married to Jim Bob in 1984 makes a lot of sense. I imagine since she married him he hasn't let her progress in society in any capacity since. Even her hair is stuck in 1984.
survivorship bias is also huge when people make those statements. "i got hit and i'm fine" so therefore it's ok to abuse others because you're "fine"???
They only hold themselves back on not leaving a mark so it's less of a pain in the ass to cover it for school etc. So I'm sure these homeschooled kids get beat particularly bad.

@Meghan I understand that, a parent shouldn't be expected to do everything for a child. but when your children start raising each other, it becomes a bit too extreme and more neglectful
@Meghan Except they are raising them. Their mother breastfeeds the child and then once they’re a toddler the older siblings have to take care of them until the kids are of age (they call it the buddy system). Having to babysit once in a while is one thing, but having to clothe, feed, discipline, your siblings for your entire childhood is neglect.
@Meghan its even stated in the video, the “buddies” will help brush their teeth, do their hair, get them ready, even teach them!? That’s all things the PARENT is supposed to be doing. Mathematically there’s not enough time in a day for one women to parent all these children, it’s simply just not possible.
@Meghan yeah not really sure why you’re defending them. Older siblings helping younger siblings is normal and good for both parties. This is pretty clearly not what they’re doing
@Paper eater Okay default pfp. I think people can decide for themselves and don't need patronizing internet strangers trying to control them. Bodily autonomy is bodily autonomy. Just to make it clear, I agree with your general sentiment, but please take a fucking look at the person I responded to. Just because someone is fertile doesn't mean they owe anything to infertile people or should feel guilty about it. That's fucking disgusting.
@Paper eater Hell no. The vibes I got from that person is shaming fertile people since there's infertile people who'd love to have their fertility. To an extent, it made me think of other folks who perceive fertility as a "blessing" and how everyone fertile should pop out kids instead of enjoying their childfree life, getting sterilized etc. It's shaming as in "Look how you aren't using your fertility when there's so many people struggling with that!". Obviously might be a reach, just trying to describe the vibes I got there. I'm kinda chronically online debating forced birthers and people who perceive motherhood as the be-all end-all for every single person who can get pregnant. Sick of it.
@@RyosukeTakahashiRX7 yes they can, doesn’t mean it isn’t incredibly dangerous and objectively neglectful to have so many children who are barely a year apart in age from each other. But the kids don’t report it. It’s because the kids go unchecked. That’s not my point though, I was just saying that women should dress modest if they want to protect themselves from men.
They need to stop worrying about transgender women and worry more about their own sons. What the hell? The dad was excusing his sons behavior... "he's just curious" tf?

Im always suspicious of large families. I do think there's lovely ones, but one of the best ways to tell is seeing how the oldest member (or oldest girl in all honesty) feels about the family. Theyre usually the ones who take the brunt of it.

Its a completely different thing when older kids are having to watch after multiple younger kids, having to make sure they're fed, having to make sure they've got clothes, etc. and doing all of this stuff to the point that they aren't able to be kids themselves. Tons of people who had to take care of their younger siblings have said that they do not want kids of their own because of how much they had to do it as a kid. EDIT: And what makes it even worse, is that these kids are homeschooled. So, they are like never able to get away from the house and just have fun. Always having to take care of the younger siblings, always having to help around the house, and then the schooling on top of everything else. The only time they can get out of the house is probably when they go to Church. It means those kids are extremely isolated. They never really come into contact with people outside of their family, church, etc. Which is like the whole fucking point of these cults. They want to keep the young people and kids away from people who aren't like them, away from the "sinners" and people who could "tempt" them. And that's why it pisses me off so much when people are like "Oh just let those religious groups do whatever they want." because it makes it extremely easy for these religious groups whether they're fundies, JWs, Amish, etc. to hide all of the emotional, physical, sexual abuse that's happening behind closed doors.
@@CamillaRules892 That’s a lot of pressure to put on a child. They’re not the ones that got pregnant, so their siblings shouldn’t be their responsibility outside of occasional baby sitting. I’d also worry about older kids hitting their younger siblings.

I think having a child that would do that, it’s extremely heartbreaking. After the initial shock, the parents need a way of explaining it to the world without making it sound as horrible as it is. After all, the parents will love the child no matter what. They will never trust him the same though.
Megan Kelley asked the real questions, too. "How could you unfairly in their view compare transgender people to child molesters- suggest they are child molesters- knowing what you know about Josh?"

Homeschooling is very often a tactic to isolate children from professionals who will notice signs of abuse. It's been a factor in several horrific abuse cases in the UK. 'Child C' wrote a book about the worst recent one. The v religous foster mother has never shown any remorse.
I think it's much more often done in order to indoctrinate them fully, rather than to hide neglect or physical abuse. However, the number of fundamentalist Christians homeschooling is dropping, while the number of secular homeschoolers is rapidly rising. My children have been homeschooled since 2018 and are all in high school. We are a Christian family, however I am anti-organized religion, and we do mostly secular homeschooling. Our reasons for homeschooling them has nothing to do with religion, and I find undue indoctrination to be incredibly creepy. Above anything, we've taught our children to take anything that anyone says with a grain of salt, to do their own legitimate research and to come to their own conclusions.

@@itiswhatitis7266 That theory can be applied to all life. The meat in my breakfast sandwich was an innocent soul. I don’t see fundies protecting them. The carrots in my salad are innocent. Most male chicks are sent to the wood chipper. They’re not needed, but I don’t see right to lifers giving a damn about them. Are they not innocent souls? At least I’m not a hypocrite. As a Finn, the whole idea of revealing clothing being so seductive that it makes men rape women is fucking ridiculous, since I have grown up in a country where even nudity is relatively normal in certain situations. Like in saunas for instance. Every Finn owns a sauna, every family uses it together, and everyone invites all their friends to spend vacation days on a sauna together, all fully naked, and all genders mixed. Same with swimming in lakes, especially on winter. People often just do it naked. Despite all this, nobody ever rapes anybody. Nobody even thinks it's anything even remotely sexual. It's just simply natural. Sexualising everything is such a weirdly foreign concept. I'm pretty sure it's like at least 90% a cultural problem. I actually hadn't even thought about it before I got a foreign friend who suddenly got kinda awkward about the concept of a sauna. Like wtf, do y'all bath fully clothed or smth??? If a guy thinks nudity or the way you dress is automatically inherently sexual, the problem is with the guy (and probably how he was taught), not actually the way you dress.
You're right. Nudity is natural. I don't pretend to know how religious Finns are, but over here Christianity (and arguably all sects of it) have intertwined nudity with sexuality to the point where it is a twisted mess of lies and shame. That is why, in my humble opinion, that they feel this way, albeit more so than non-fundamental Christians. FYI I'm pagan (Wiccan) so nudity is somewhat a part of paganism. (Not required but it's also not discouraged and some rituals and ceremonies are "traditionally" performed nude - if you can say that Wicca has any tradition. The celebration of sex (particularly around Beltane in Spring, which represents "rebirth"), and nudity (non-sexual) is probably one of the reasons they think we're devil worshippers. Because of course we worship something we don't believe actually exists AND have the audacity to view a naked girl as just a person, not a sexual object. Hail Satan. Miroslav Satan, that is. It is certainly a cultural issue. Again, their niche subculture takes it much farther than protestant Christians would, but it's still the same underlying message: Your body is shameful and sexuality is sinful. That is until you get married. Then you should fuck like rabbits and pop babies out like a pez dispenser. Apparently, an erection is all in our perverted minds. It can't possibly be normal to get one randomly and I'm sure that they deter girls from humping their pillows by saying, "It's the devil in your loins..." The only devil down there is in the form of menstrual cycles - that is - they become demons and we have to run and hide for 5 days. lol. To avoid these sinful thoughts, clearly clothing is the answer. From head to toe... but not like that wicked Islam, of course. No, TOTALLY different. (Note: Sarcasm)

@@CamillaRules892 Its one thing if a kid is changing a diaper here and there or feeding a baby every now and then.

As an ex teacher, unless there are disabilities that make homeschooling a last resort, I find it sad that homeschoolers dismiss the emotional & social skills value of mixing with a wide variety of children & learning emotional intelligence, teamwork, negotiation, compromise, group dynamics, social norms etc. Yes, you can 'provide' academically at home, but a few non school clubs & family gatherings aren't going to provide the same opportunities re social, emotional & psychological development.

How do the Duggars explain Josh sexually abusing his sisters when they were always dressed modestly and he wasnt taught about sexuality? I wish Michelle had cared for the safety of her daughters at home as much as she supposedly care for the "safety" of strangers in public bathrooms.

There's a BIG difference between the two. One is an innocent soul being killed who is given no chance at life and the other is a someone who killed an innocent soul and ended their life. BIG DIFFERENCE
Flip your logic and the same is true. Those for abortion are also against the death penalty. Choosing who gets to live and die.
@@itiswhatitis7266 That theory can be applied to all life. The meat in my breakfast sandwich was an innocent soul. I don’t see fundies protecting them. The carrots in my salad are innocent. Where’s the outrage over carrot murder? The eggs in my refrigerator are a result of hens forced into boxes to just lay eggs. Any fertilized eggs are harvested in the hopes for female chicks. Most male chicks are sent to the wood chipper. They’re not needed, but I don’t see right to lifers giving a damn about them. Are they not innocent souls? At least I’m not a hypocrite. Purity culture sexualizes absolutely everything, the obsession with censorship has affected every aspect of my sexuality from my teens well into my 20s and I'm sure will continue as I get older.
I'm going through this too, it's so hard. It's taken me years to understand that sexuality is a positive thing that can be expressed however you want.
It's weird how in the obsession with avoiding the thing, cultures like this become defined by the thing/the amount of (negative) attention they pay to the thing.
How ironic

That’s the thing-they’re saying they are against transgender women going into the girl’s bathroom because they’re “men preying on girls,” but they’re okay with boys (their son) preying on girls? Whether a girl is molested by an adult or child, she still has to deal with the trauma of that for the rest of her life.

Inappropriate behavior bwtwrrn people who know each other doesn't just happen out of nowhere its gradual. but they're not jobs themselves so they probably didn't see anything wrong the whole time.
