  • Flat foot, or pes planus, is a common condition affecting both children and adults. It often goes unrecognised and can eventually lead to tendon, ligament or even joint problems in the foot. For example, common conditions associated with flat foot include plantar fasciitis, bunions, and arthritis.
This public webinar aims to discuss the problems related to flat foot, preventive measures and treatment options, both surgical and non-surgical.
The webinar is chaired by Asst Prof Tay Kae Sian, Director of Foot and Ankle Surgery in Singapore General Hospital Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, and the panellists include Specialist Foot and Ankle surgeons Dr Toh Rui Xiang and Dr Kizher Buhary, as well as Principal Podiatrist Mr Gordon Williams.

Dear doctors and Gordon, I am born with asymptomatic flat feet but the right side became symptomatic after chronic sprain of the ATFL. I also started arch support insoles too late. I recently started using orthotics but they have caused a great deal of pain and not just with the problematic foot but the good side as well. Despite many adjustments by the podiatrist, the orthotics are impossible to wear. Yet, I need the correction for the collapsed side. I am in more pain and struggle to walk after orthotics. What do I do? Thank you.
